  • In WSN(Wireless Sensor Network) environment, a large amount of sensors, which are small and heterogeneous, generates data stream successively in physical space. These sensors are composed of measured data and metadata. Metadata includes various features such as location, sampling time, measurement unit, and their types. Until now, wireless sensors have been managed with individual specification, not the explicit standardization of metadata, so it is difficult to collect and communicate between heterogeneous sensors. To solve this problem, OGC(Open Geospatial Consortium) has proposed a SensorML(Sensor Model Language) which can manage metadata of heterogeneous sensors with unique format. In this paper, we introduce a metadata model using SensorML specification to manage various sensors, which are distributed in a wide scope. In addition, we implement the metadata management module applied to the sensor data stream management system. We provide many functions, namely generating metadata file, registering and storing them according to definition of SensorML.

  • Context-awareness techniques in ubiquitous computing environment provide various services to users who need to get information via the analysis of collected information from sensors in a spatial area. Context-awareness has been increased in ubiquitous computing and is applied to many different applications such as disaster management system, intelligent robot system, transportation management system, shopping management system, and digital home service. Many researches have recently focused on services that provide the appropriate information, which are collected from Internet by different kinds of sensors, to users according to context of their surrounding environment. In this paper, we propose an abstraction model to manage the large-scale contextual information and their metadata which are collected from different kinds of in-situ sensors in a spatial area and are presented them on the web. This model is composed of the modules expressing functional elements of sensors using sensorML(Sensor Model Language) based on XML language and the modules managing contextual information, which is transmitted from the sensors.

  • The goal of Ubiquitous Sensor Network(USN) environments is to provide users high quality services based on a variety of sensors. In this environment, sensor devices, sensor nodes and sensor networks are heterogeneous and have various characteristics. Therefore it is important for interoperability to define a metadata for describing USN resources. The OGC(Open Geospatial Consortium) proposes SensorML(Sensor Model Language) as a standard language for modeling sensors. However, SensorML provides a framework for describing a processing model among sensors rather than describing information of sensors. Therefore, to describe a USN metadata is not main purposes of SensorML. This paper defines a USN metadata which describes information about sensor device, sensor node, and sensor network. Also the paper proposes a method for efficiently storing and searching the USN metadata and implements a USN metadata management system based on our method. We show that our metadata management system is reasonable for managing the USN metadata through performance evaluation. Our USN metadata keeps the interoperability in USN environments because the metadata is designed on SensorML. The USN metadata management system can be used directly for a USN middleware or USN application.

  • In this study, the creation of emotional dialogue was investigated within the process of developing a robot's natural language understanding and emotional dialogue processing. Unlike an English-based dataset, which is the mainstay of natural language processing, the Korean-based dataset has several shortcomings. Therefore, in a situation where the Korean language base is insufficient, the Korean dataset should be dealt with in detail, and in particular, the unique characteristics of the language should be considered. Hence, the first step is to base this study on a specific Korean dataset consisting of conversations on emotional topics. Subsequently, a model was built that learns to extract the continuous dialogue features from a pre-trained language model to generate sentences while maintaining the context of the dialogue. To validate the model, a chatbot system was implemented and meaningful results were obtained by collecting the external subjects and conducting experiments. As a result, the proposed model was influenced by the dataset in which the conversation topic was consultation, to facilitate free and emotional communication with users as if they were consulting with a chatbot. The results were analyzed to identify and explain the advantages and disadvantages of the current model. Finally, as a necessary element to reach the aforementioned ultimate research goal, a discussion is presented on the areas for future studies.

  • This paper presents a design experience of a control language for coordination of a multi-robot system. To effectively program job commands, a Petrinet-type Graphical Robot Language(PGRL) is proposed, where some functions, such as concurrency and synchronization, for coordination among tasks can be easily programmed. In our system, the proposed task commands of PGRL are implemented by employing formal model languages, which are composed of three modules, sensory, data handling, and action module. It is expected that by using our proposed PGRL and formal languages, one can easily describe a job or task, and hence can effectively operate a complex real-time and concurrent system. The control system is being implemented by using VME-based 32-bit microprocessor boards for supervisory, each module controller(arm, hand, leg, sensor data processing module) and a real time multi-tasking operating system(VxWorks). • As ubiquitous environment rapidly emerges due to the development of network and information communication technology, ubiquitous computing is being noticed as a technology that will take the lead in information technology industry of the future. To the end, the data recognized from each sensors, collected and processed need be transferred to applied service so that they may be used as data for providing sum to users. However, in reality as the definitions of metadata and platform for each sensor are not clear, approach from applied service for data use is difficult and there are limitations in transferring sensor measurement data of the applied service because of the difference of platform and protocol. In this paper, we designed sensor service technology language that expresses sensor and measurement data and describes the service though sensor data service. Also the researcher implemented a sensor data processing system that transfers sensor data to the applied service by using web service. The thesis will apply a reference model for standardization to guarantee mutual compatibility in exchanging sensor data through the system.

  • According to the recent development of the ubiquitous computing environment, the use of spatio-temporal data from sensors with GPS is increasing, and studies on the Semantic Sensor Web using spatio-temporal data for providing different kinds of services are being actively conducted. Especially, the W3C developed the SSNO(Semantic Sensor Network Ontology) which uses sensor-related standards such as the SWE(Sensor Web Enablement) of OGC and defines classes and properties for expressing sensor data. Since these studies are available for the query processing about non-spatio-temporal sensor data, it is hard to apply them to spatio-temporal sensor data processing which uses spatio-temporal data types and operators. Therefore, in this paper, we developed the SWE based on SSNO which supports the spatio-temporal sensor data types and operators expanding spatial data types and operators in "OpenGIS Simple Feature Specification for SQL" by OGC. The system receives SensorML(Sensor Model Language) and O&M (Observations and Measurements) Schema and converts the data into SSNO. It also performs the efficient query processing which supports spatio-temporal operators and reasoning rules. In addition, we have proved that this system can be utilized for the web service by applying it to a virtual scenario.

  • Recently, as the dissemination of the Internet and development of computer network technology, Research is actively underway for realization of the next-generation computing paradigm called Ubiquitous Computing. For realization of Ubiquitous computing, The data recognized from each sensors must be collected on real-time and transferred to applied service so that they may be used as data for providing service to users. However, there are several problem for realization. First, there is no standardization of sensor metadata, interface and event definition. Second, applied service has weak point that difficult of approaching to the data. Third, none interoperability with each platform and protocol. In this paper, we designed Sensor Service Description Language based on XML to resolve problem above. This Language expresses the measurement of the sensor and Service Metadata in the form to be standardized. In addition, we have proposed and development a reference model for USN application service.
