  • The advance of wireless telecommunication and observation technologies leads developing sensor and sensor network for serving the context information continuously. Besides, in order to understand and cope with the context awareness based on the sensor network, it is becoming important issue to deal with plentiful data transmitted from various sensors. Therefore, we propose a context awareness system to deal with the plentiful sensor data in a vast area such as the prevention of a forest fire, the warning system for detecting environmental pollution, and the analysis of the traffic information, etc. The proposed system consists of the context acquisition to collect and store various sensor data, the knowledge base to keep context information and context log, the rule manager to process context information depending on user defined rules, and the situation information manager to analysis and recognize the context, etc. The proposed system is implemented for managing renewable energy data management transmitted from a large scale area.

  • We present a multi-sensor fusion method in positioning control of a robot by using fuzzy logic. In general, the vision sensor is used in the gross motion control and the force/torque sensor is used in the fine motion control. We construct a fuzzy logic controller to combine the vision sensor data and the force/torque sensor data. Also, we apply the fuzzy logic controller to the peg-in-hole process. Simulation results uphold the theoretical results.

  • Sensor networks consist of sensor nodes with small-size, low-cost, low-power, and multi-functions to sense, to process and to communicate. Minimizing power consumption of sensors is an important issue in sensor networks due to limited power in sensor networks. Clustering is an efficient way to reduce data flow in sensor networks and to maintain less routing information. In this paper, we propose a multi-hop clustering mechanism using global and local ID to reduce transmission power consumption and an efficient routing method for improved data fusion and transmission.

  • Process Control Systems (PCSs) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems have recently been added to the already wide collection of wireless sensor networks applications. The PCS/SCADA environment is somewhat more amenable to the use of heavy cryptographic mechanisms such as public key cryptography than other sensor application environments. The sensor nodes in the environment, however, are still open to devastating attacks such as node capture, which makes designing a secure key management challenging. Recently, Nilsson et al. proposed a key management scheme for PCS/SCADA, which was claimed to provide forward and backward secrecies. In this paper, we define four different types of adversaries or attackers in wireless sensor network environments in order to facilitate the evaluation of protocol strength. We then analyze Nilsson et al. 's protocol and show that it does not provide forward and backward secrecies against any type of adversary model.

  • It is very important for the combat system to process extensive data exactly at short time for the better situation awareness compared with the threats in these days. This paper suggests to add radial velocity on the decision factor of sensor data fusion in the existing algorithm for the accuracy enhancement of the sensor data fusion in the combat system.

  • 센서 네트워크에서는 데이터의 실시간 처리가 중요한 요소 중의 하나이다. 각 노드들이 감지한 데이터를 정해진 시간 내에 전달해야 필요한 시기에 적합한 처리가 가능하다. 따라서 노드들이 데이터를 정해진 시간 내에 제대로 전달하고 있는가를 점검하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 데이터 전송시간에 대한 모니터링을 통하여 센서 네트워크에 존재하는 노드들이 허용시간 범위 내에서 서버로 데이터를 전송하고 있는가를 확인하기 위한 데이터 전송시간 분석 시스템의 구현 사례를 제안한다. 이를 위하여 데이터 전송시간 분석을 위한 절차를 제시하고, 제시한 절차에 따라 전송시간을 분석하기 위해 필요한 시간차 분석 방법, 데이터 송수신 시간 수집 방법 및 데이터 전송시간 계산 방법을 제시한다. 또한 제시한 방법을 바탕으로 데이터 전송시간을 모니터링하고 분석하기 위한 시스템을 구현하고, 사례 연구를 수행한 결과를 보인다.

GMA 용접로봇용 용접선 시각 추적 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on a Visual Sensor System for Weld Seam Tracking in Robotic GMA Welding)

  • In this study, we constructed a preview-sensing visual sensor system for weld seam tracking in real time in GMA welding. A sensor part consists of a CCD camera, a band-pass filter, a diode laser system with a cylindrical lens, and a vision board for inter frame process. We used a commercialized robot system which includes a GMA welding machine. To extract the weld seam we used a inter frame process in vision board from that we could remove the noise due to the spatters and fume in the image. Since the image was very reasonable by using the inter frame process, we could use the simplest way to extract the weld seam from the image, such as first differential and central difference method. Also we used a moving average method to the successive position data of weld seam for reducing the data fluctuation. In experiment the developed robot system with visual sensor could be able to track a most popular weld seam, such as a fillet-joint, a V-groove, and a lap-joint of which weld seam include planar and height directional variation.

Multi-Attribute Data Fusion for Energy Equilibrium Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Data fusion is an attractive technology because it allows various trade-offs related to performance metrics, e.g., energy, latency, accuracy, fault-tolerance and security in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Under a complicated environment, each sensor node must be equipped with more than one type of sensor module to monitor multi-targets, so that the complexity for the fusion process is increased due to the existence of various physical attributes. In this paper, we first investigate the process and performance of multi-attribute fusion in data gathering of WSNs, and then propose a self-adaptive threshold method to balance the different change rates of each attributive data. Furthermore, we present a method to measure the energy-conservation efficiency of multi-attribute fusion. Based on our proposed methods, we design a novel energy equilibrium routing method for WSNs, viz., multi-attribute fusion tree (MAFT). Simulation results demonstrate that MAFT achieves very good performance in terms of the network lifetime.

Optimal SMDP-Based Connection Admission Control Mechanism in Cognitive Radio Sensor Networks

  • Traffic management is a highly beneficial mechanism for satisfying quality-of-service requirements and overcoming the resource scarcity problems in networks. This paper introduces an optimal connection admission control mechanism to decrease the packet loss ratio and end-to-end delay in cognitive radio sensor networks (CRSNs). This mechanism admits data flows based on the value of information sent by the sensor nodes, the network state, and the estimated required resources of the data flows. The number of required channels of each data flow is estimated using a proposed formula that is inspired by a graph coloring approach. The proposed admission control mechanism is formulated as a semi-Markov decision process and a linear programming problem is derived to obtain the optimal admission control policy for obtaining the maximum reward. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed mechanism outperforms a recently proposed admission control mechanism in CRSNs.

  • 센서 네트워크를 위한 데이터 중심 저장구조는 다차원의 범위 질의는 물론 정합질의를 효과적으로 처리하기 위해서 제안되었다. 하나의 센서 네트워크는 범위질의 하나만 처리하거나 스카이라인 질의 하나만을 처리하기 위해서 설치될 수도 있지만 일반적으로 다양한 질의를 같이 처리하기 위해서 사용된다. 따라서, 데이터 중심 저장구조에서 다차원의 범위질의 뿐만 아니라 스카이라인 질의도 효과적으로 처리될 필요가 있다. 기존에 제안된 스카이라인 질의 처리 알고리즘들은 데이터 중심 저장구조의 존재를 고려하지 않고 있다. 일부 대표적인 데이터 중심 저장구조는 유사한 데이터를 지리적으로 인접한 센서노드에 저장하는 특징을 갖는다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 특징을 고려하여 데이터 중심 저장구조에서 보다 효과적으로 동작할 수 있는 스카이라인 질의 처리기법을 제안한다.
