  • In this paper, We propose a transaction signing-based authentication scheme for protecting sinkhole attacks in wireless sensor networks. Sinkhole attack makes packets that flow network pass through attacker. So, Sinkhole attack can be extended to various kind of attacks such as denial of service attacks, selective delivery or data tamper etc. We analyze sinkhole attack methods in directed diffusion based wireless sensor networks. For the purpose of response to attack method, Transaction signing-based authentication scheme is proposed. This scheme can work for those sensor networks which use directed diffusion based wireless sensor networks. The validity of proposed scheme is provided by BAN logic.

  • In this study we propose a method for 3D landform reconstruction and object modeling method by generating contour lines on the map using a depth sensor which abstracts characteristics of geological layers from the depth map. Unlike the common visual camera, the depth-sensor is not affected by the intensity of illumination, and therefore a more robust contour and object can be extracted. The algorithm suggested in this paper first abstracts the characteristics of each geological layer from the depth map image and rearranges it into the proper order, then creates contour lines using the Bezier curve. Using the created contour lines, 3D images are reconstructed through rendering by mapping RGB images of the visual camera. Experimental results show that the proposed method using depth sensor can reconstruct contour map and 3D modeling in real-time. The generation of the contours with depth data is more efficient and economical in terms of the quality and accuracy.

  • An outlier detection method using mixed prediction model has been described in this paper. The mixed prediction model consists of time-series model and regression model. The parameter estimation of the prediction model was performed using supervised learning and a genetic algorithm is adopted for a learning method. The experiments were performed in artificial and real data set. The prediction performance is compared with the existing prediction methods using artificial data. Outlier detection is conducted using the real sensor measurements in a dam. The validity of the proposed method was shown in the experiments.

  • EPCglobal has proposed the EPC Sensor Network to efficiently integrate and interoperate the RFID and WSN technologies based on the international standard EPCglobal Network. However, it can not deal with the sensor data without EPS. Also, it does not provide enough management function for the sensor data only. This study proposes USN management system that can deal with these weaknesses of EPC Sensor Network. Not only that, it is suitable for the medical environment properly. In the medical environment, it is important for the medical information to be integrated and interconnected via the standard for medical data. This proposed USN management system is based on SIP-HL 7 and can send RFID and WSN data based on SIP(Session Initiation Protocol). It can be interconnected with the existing hospital information system and exchange the information. Also it can design and materialize SIP Interface based on HL7 that allows the medical information to be exchanged and sent.

  • The emergences of GeoSensor and researches about GIS have promoted many researches of u-GIS. The disaster application coupled in the u-GIS can apply to monitor accident area and to prevent spread of accident. The application needs the u-GIS DSMS technique to acquire, to process GeoSensor data and to integrate them with GIS data. The u-GIS DSMS must process big and large-volume data stream such as spatial data and multimedia data. Due to the feature of the data stream, in u-GIS DSMS, query processing can be delayed. Moreover, as increasing the input rate of data in the area generating events, the network traffic is increased. To solve this problem, in this paper we describe TRIGGER ACTION clause in CQ on the u-GIS DSMS environment and proposes data source management. Data source weight table controls GES information and incoming data rate. It controls incoming data rate as increasing weight at GES of disaster area. Consequently, it can contribute query processing rate and accuracy

  • In this paper, a ubiquitous parking management system(UPMS) using sensor network is proposed. Ubiquitous parking management system provides information on free space in the parking lot through PDA or cellular phone connected to wireless LAN. For the implementation of UPMS, we have developed sensor node, sensor application and web server application. The proposed system periodically updates parking space data and monitors in real-time according to the user's request from the personal internet device. Collected parking data are stored onto the database for further analysis. The implemented UPMS system was installed on campus parking lot using 10 sensor nodes and we successfully demonstrated its feasibility by accessing the web server from out of the campus.

  • In recent years, wireless sensor networks(WSNs) have emerged as a new fast-growing application domain for wireless distributed computing and embedded systems. Recent Progress in computer and communication technology has made it possible to organize wireless sensor networks composed tiny sensor nodes. Furthermore, ad-hoc network protocols do not consider the characteristics of wireless sensor nodes, making existing ad-hoc network protocols unsuitable for the wireless sensor networks. First, we propose power-aware routing protocols based on energy-centered routing metrics. Second, we describe power management techniques for wireless sensor nodes using the spatial locality of sensed data. Many nodes can go into a power-down mode without sacrificing the accuracy of sensed data. Finally, combining the proposed techniques, we describe an overall energy-efficient protocol for data collection. Experimental results show that the proposed routing protocol can extend the routing path lifetime more than twice. The average energy consumption per sensing period is reduced by up to 30%.

  • For Web-based applications in IoT environment, IETF CoRE WG has standardizing the CoAP. One of limitations of CoAP is that CoAP standard does not consider the mobility management of the CoAP sensor node. In this paper, we propose the mobility management protocol of CoAP sensor node by considering the characteristics of the constrained network. The proposed mobility management protocol supports for Web client to be transmitted the sensing data from CoAP node reliably while the CoAP sensor moves into different wireless networks. To do this, we designed the architecture with the separate IP address management of CoAP sensor node and presented the mobility management protocol, which includes the holding and binding mode, in order to provide the reliable transmission. Finally, the numerical analysis and simulation with NS2 tool have been done for the performance evaluation in terms of the handover latency and packet loss with comparing the proposed mobility management protocol with other the existing mobility management protocols. The performance result shows that the proposed mobility management can provide the transmission of sensing data without the packet loss comparing with the existing mobility management protocol reliably.

  • To increase the lifetime of the network in wireless sensor networks, energy harvesting from the surrounding environment or wireless power transfer is being used. In addition, to reduce the energy imbalance and increase the amount of data gathered, a method using mobile sink nodes that visit sensor nodes to gather data has been used. In this paper, we propose a technique to reduce the load on the relay node and collect a lot of data evenly in this environment. In the proposed scheme, sensor nodes construct Minimum Depth Trees (MDTs) considering the network environment and energy, and allocate the data collection amount. Simulation results show that the proposed technique effectively suppresses energy depletion and collects more data compared to existing techniques.

  • With the promotion of the u-City project in recent years, the need for the systematic and efficient management of ground and underground facilities comprising the urban infrastructure has been increased. Considering that the diverse services provided in the u-City are closely related to the physical environment of the city itself, including its location and condition, the core of such management must be to continuously maintain these facilities in a normal state, based on accurate data collection from the facilities. This paper discusses a method of collecting the sensor and the object data that are needed to accurately understand the state of the underground facilities, and presents a plan to build an Underground Facility Management System on this basis. This plan is then verified using a scenario test performed by a prototype system.
