Traditional agriculture mostly focused on activity in the field, but current agriculture faces problems such as reduction of agricultural inputs, labor shortage and so on. Accordingly, traditional agricultural experiments generally considered the simple treatment effects, but current agricultural experiments need to consider the several and complicate treatment effects. To analyze such several and complicate treatment effects, data collection has the first priority. Remote sensing is a quite effective tool to collect information in agriculture, and recent easier availability of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) enhances the effectiveness. LAI (Leaf Area Index) is one of the most important information for evaluating the condition of crop growth. In this study, we utilized UAV with multispectral camera to evaluate plant-based LAI of sweetcorn in a small-scale field experiment and discussed the feasibility of a new experimental design to analyze the several and complicate treatment effects. The plant-based SR measured by UAV showed the highest correlation coefficient with LAI measured by a canopy analyzer in 2018 and 2019. Application of linear mix model showed that plant-based SR data had higher detection power due to its huge number of data although SR was inferior to evaluate LAI than the canopy analyzer. The distribution of plant-based data also statistically revealed the border effect in treatment plots in the traditional experimental design. These results suggest that remote sensing with UAVs has the advantage even in a small-scale experimental plot and has a possibility to provide a new experimental design if combined with various analytical applications such as plant size, shape, and color.

This paper describes the fabrication and characteristics of CrN thin-film type pressure sensors, in which the sensing elements were deposited on SuS. 630 diaphragm by DC reactive magnetron sputtering in an argon-nitride atmosphere(Ar-(10%)N$_2$). The optimized condition of CrN thin-film sensing elements was thickness range of 3500$\AA$ and annealing condition(300$\^{C}$, 3 hr) in Ar-10%N$_2$ deposition atmosphere. Under optimum conditions, the CrN thin-films for strain gauges is obtained a high resistivity, ρ=1147.65 $\mu$Ωcm, a low temperature coefficient of resistance, TCR=186ppm/$\^{C}$ and a high temporal stability with a good longitudinal, 11.17. The output sensitivity of fabricated CrN thin-film type pressure sensors is 2.36 mV/V, 4∼20nA and the maximum non-linearity is 0.4%FS and hysteresis is less than 0.2%FS.
Telematics is a leading IT service where wireless internet service represented by information and mobility is extended to the area of transportations to provide Telematics service. One of the killer-application about Telematics is navigation system. Recently, due to the mass storage conversion, the performance of the terminal and mobile communications technology development, navigation system is also changed. It more and more develops into 3D in a pre-existence 2D map. In the future, it is expected to include the remote sensing map or video map. There is also the characteristic of all the information expressed in frequently a change partially happening. That is, POI(Point Of Interest) which is freshly registered or is deleted is many. In a pre-existence, Map Contents Providers offer the new version map by off-line monthly or quarterly. And a user wastes time and is inconvenient because of updating the total map by the off-line. Thus, in this paper, in order to resolve this, we describe MAUS(Map Air Update Server) for updating only the partial map that was changed
Dramatic price increases of fossil fuels and the economic development of emerging nations accelerates the transformation of forest lands into monocultures, e.g. for biofuel production. On this account, cost efficient methods to enable the monitoring of land resources has become a vital ambition. The application of remote sensing techniques has become an integral part of forest attribute estimation and mapping. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potentials of the kNN method by combining terrestrial with remotely sensed data for the development of a pixel-based monitoring system for the small scaled mosaic of different land use types of the off-reserve forests of the Goaso forest district in Ghana, West Africa. For this reason, occurrence and distribution of land use types like cocoa and non-timber forest resources, such as bamboo and raphia palms, were estimated, applying the kNN method to ASTER satellite data. Averaged overall accuracies, ranging from 79% for plantain, to 83% for oil palms, were found for single-attribute classifications, whereas a multi-attribute approach showed overall accuracies of up to 70%. Values of k between 3 and 6 seem appropriate for mapping bamboo. Optimisation of spectral bands improves results considerably.
We describe the fabrication and characterization of a doubly clamped multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT). The device was assembled by an application of electric field in solution. The MWNT was clamped on end of metal trench electrodes in solution and deposited with additional platinum (Pt) on edge of electrode for firmly suspending the MWNT by focused ion beam (FIB). The MWNTs range of diameter and length were 100 to 150 nm and 1.5 to $2{\mu}m$, respectively. Electrical characteristics of fabricated devices were measured by I-V curve and impedance analysis. The mechanical deformation was observed by resistivity in high air pressure. Resonant frequency around 6.8 MHz was detected and resistivity was linearly varied according to the magnitude of air pressure. This device could have potential applications in nanoelectronics and various sensors.

The research on Harmful Algal Blooms is generally in progress through field work, such as the naked eye and sampling. It was difficult to forecast exactly the course, from appearance of red tide to disappearance, with the established ways of investigation and analysis. Accordingly it is need to analyze environmental factors in time and space, the appearance of red tide and the path of its migration by more objective and scientific methods. In this study the remote sensing was used to diminish damage from the occurrence of red tide. Such as a temperature change of sea water and a change of tidal currents, the major cause for red tide. The probed data were utilized. The technique for forecast of red tide phenomenon on the south coast was researched by analyzing the cause of red tide, pollutant flowed from landand the possibility of application of the technique was showed.
A simple array of metal-insulator-metal capacitive elements was proposed for a potential application in humidity sensing platforms. We fabricated meso-scale sensors with different sizes(large-size: $2.7{\times}2.7mm^2$ ; mid-size: $1.5{\times}1.5mm^2$ ; small-size: $0.7{\times}0.7mm^2$) and characterized the performance of each design. Polyimide films were utilized as a humidity-sensitive layer. Capacitance changes of the polyimide layer were measured with respect to water absorption. The device showed sensitivity in the full range of relative humidity (RH) with excellent linearity(correlation coefficient > 0.994). This array structure exhibits unique advantages including easy fabrication process, high batch productivity, and high structural compatibility with various substrate materials. It is anticipated that this device structure will be potentially useful in unique applications including mapping spatial humidity variations over a meso-scale area and implementing flexible humidity sensing element arrays.
The ISODATA method, which is one of the most famous of the square-error clustering methos, has been applied to two Chungju multivariate data sets in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the regional lithological mapping. One is an airborne radiometric data set and the other is a mixed data set of the airborne radiometric and Landsat TM data. In both cases, the classification of the Bulguksa granite and the Kyemyongsan biotite-quartz gneiss are the most successful. Hyangsanni dolomitic limestone and neighboring Daehyangsan quartzite are also classified by their typical lowness of the radioactive intensities, though it is still confused with some others such as water-covered areas and nearby alluvials, and unaltered limestone areas. Topographically rugged valleys are also classified as the same cluster as above. This could be due to unavoidable variations of flight height and the attitude of the airborne system in such rugged terrains. The regional geological mapping of sedimentary rock units of the Ockchun System is in general confused. This might be due to similarities between different sediments. Considarable discrepancies occurred in mapping some lithological boundaries might also be due to secondary effects such as contamination or smoothing in digitizing process. Further study should be continued in the variable selection scheme as no absolutely superior method claims to exist yet since it seems somewhat to be rather data dependent. Study could also be made on the data preprocessing in order to reduce the erratic effects as mentioned above, and thus hoprfully draw much better result in regional geological mapping.
This study is aiming at improving the Environmental Conservation Value Assessment Map(ECVAM) of National Land in Korea. The ECVAM items are composed of legal and environmental/ecological assessments. A popular method applied to ECVAM is an overlay environmental/ecological assessment items. The purpose of this study is to offer complementary items of the ECVAM by examining assessment items. In this study we assessed the ECVAM by five methods. Method 1 is Grade 1 areas of each administrative district; Method 2 is comparing overlapped areas of each assessment items Grade 1, 2 and permission of each assessment items duplication; Method 3 is Grade 1, 2 areas by only singular assessment items; Method 4 is Grade 1 areas only of Method 2; and Method 5 is Grade 2 areas only of Method 2. Method 1 showed Seoul and other metropolitan cities revealed a large proportion of Grade I regions by the legal assessment items. Gang won-Do, showed a large proportion of Grade I regions by the environmental/ecological assessment item. Method 2 showed 93.4% of diameter Grade II(standard for stability); forest diameter item accounted for 99.9% by Method 3, Method 4 showed 95.7% of forest diameter, and forest density accounted for 66.4% by Method 5. This study contributes to reduce the complexity in the process of manufacturing ECVAM of National Land, and to raise the flexibility in the process of managing and updating this map.
Many hospitals have been considering new technology such as wireless sensor network(WSN). The technology can be used to track the location of medical devices needed for inspections or repairs, and it can also be used to detect of a theft of an asset. In an asset-tracking system using WSN, acquiring the location of moving sensor nodes inherently introduces uncertainty in location determination. In fact, the sensor nodes attached to an asset are prone to failure from lack of energy or from physical destruction. Therefore, even if the asset is located within the predetermined area, the asset-tracking application could "misunderstand" that an asset has escaped from the area. This paper classifies the causes of such unexpected situations into the following five cases: 1) an asset has actually escaped from a predetermined area; 2) a sensor node was broken; 3) the battery for the sensor node was totally discharged; 4) an asset went into a shadow area; 5) a sensor node was stolen. We implemented and installed our asset-tracking system in a hospital and continuously monitored the status of assets such as ventilators, syringe pumps, wheel chairs and IV poles. Based on this real experience, we suggest how to differentiate each case of location uncertainty and propose possible solutions to prevent them.
