  • The purpose of this research was to examine variables contributing to the father's role performance. The study has been designed to measure the quantitative(i.e. amount of involvement) and the qualitative(i.e. depth of affection/care) values in their modes of child-rearing practices by taking a clouter look at the father's views on their careers and on offspring. Subjects were 516 fathers of school-age children. Analyzing the factors that determine the quantitative and qualitative aspects of child-rearing practices by the fathers, the sense of fulfillment/value in life is the decisive factor behind the affection(i.e. qualitative) in the child-rearing practices. The resets indicated that the father's perceptions on their careers and on their children constitute the critical factors behind the qualitative and quantitative aspects of child-rearing practices, albeit holding such factors as the parents'working hour or as mothers with outside jobs under control.

  • This study examined one room(studio apartment) residential deweller's housing behavior and housing need, and the relationship between the sense of housing values and housing satisfaction of one-room residence, The study surveyed 302 one-room residents in Busan city. The researcher modified, complimented, and used the previous researches on housing values and housing satisfaction. The analysis of the data used SPSS Win 10.0 program. The results of the research can be summarized as follows: 1. The motive of choosing one-room residence was mainly the closeness to the school or work, Jeonse(Rent with a one-room deposit) was more common than ownership, and the size is one-room residence was 10 to 15 Pyeong. 2. Among the five housing values of one-room residence dwellers, that is, amenity, indoor and outdoor environment, economy/convenience, convenience in transportation, and the interior functionality, the convenience in transportation was ranked highest, and the indoor and out door environment and economy/convenience followed. 3. The housing satisfaction of one-room residents was highest in location, and also high in the safety and the security or privacy, and the convenience of inside facility.

  • A fuzzy controller designed by mini-max-gravity(MMG) method is essentially nonlinear with respect to the controller's input and output relationship, and stability analysis is thus needed to construct a stable control system. This paper deals with a design method of a position-type MMG fuzzy controller stable in a sense of Lyapunov when considered is a single-input-single-output linear, stable plant. We first introduce a method to construct a Laypunov function by using an eigen-value of A matrix of the linear, stable plant dynamics and then we derive an asymtotic stability condition in terms of scale factors for fuzzy state variables and controller gain. The stability condition is found reasonably practical through comparing the theoretical stability region with that obtained from simulations.

  • n-writhes denoted by Jn(K) are virtual knot invariants for n ≠ 0 and are closely associated with coefficients of some polynomial invariants of virtual knots. In this work, we investigate the variations of Jn(K) under arc shift move and conclude that n-writhes Jn(K) vary randomly in the sense that it may change by any random integer value under one arc shift move. Also, for each n ≠ 0 we provide an infinite family of virtual knots which can be distinguished by n-writhes Jn(K), whereas odd writhe J(K) fails to do so.

  • Hamilton's principle is used to derive Euler-Lagrange equations for free surface flow problems of incompressible ideal fluid. The velocity field is chosen to satisfy the continuity equation a priori. This approach results in a hierarchial set of governing equations consist of two evolution equations with respect to two canonical variables and corresponding boundary value problems. The free surface elevation and the Lagrange's multiplier are the canonical variables in Hamilton's sense. This Lagrange's multiplier is a velocity potential defined on the free surface. Energy is conserved as a consequence of the Hamiltonian structure. These equations can be applied to waves in water of finite depth including generalization of Hamilton's equations given by Miles and Salmon.

  • In this paper, the robust design and tolerancing of the stabilized mirror is performed to increase its stabilization performance under vehicle vibration. Based on the sensitivity analysis, the seven important control factors are first identified, and then the optimal as well as robust values in the sense of Taguchi method are obtained. Finally, the tolerances associated with each design variables are determined based on a successive sensitivity analysis of the simulated system response so that the deviation in the response from the target value meets the specification requirements. The proposed tolerancing method features that it is a robust but conservative design method and that the computational effort is much less than the Monte Carlo simulation method.

  • It is an orthodox in epistemology that only those things that affect the truth conduciveness of a belief are relevant to the epistemic rationality of the belief. I criticize this orthodox. In this paper, 1 claim that the epistemic worth of a subject affects the epistemic rationality of inquiries and resulting beliefs. More specifically, I argue that it is epistemically irrational to conduct an inquiry when it is about something unworthy of knowing, and that the epistemic irrationality of an inquiry in this sense makes the resulting beliefs epistemically irrational. After presenting my argument, I defend it from various possible criticisms. Then I explicate the implications of my argument that opposes the core assumptions of contemporary epistemology.

  • The purpose of this study was to survey the needs of elderly housing of the elderly who lives in Seoul in order to offer the information helpful to elderly housing designers and elderly policy makers. Documentary research and interview survey methods were used in this research. The sample was taken from 30 the elderly living in Seoul. Data were analyzed with the SPSS PC+ window version. The results were as follows: 1) there is little difference between age groups. The older groups had traditional sense of value that count on their children to serve. 2) the demands for elderly housing are not so much but those who have want to live in elderly housing want to live with their family and relatives in the suburbs of Seoul.

  • This qualitative case study examined what type of clothing image middle aged housewives strive for, and how to classify the preferred clothing style. Secondly, we examined how their clothing image corresponded to age and observed the meaning of such changes over time. The participants of this study were eight middle aged housewives. This study was conducted through in-depth interviews that were based on an unstructured questionnaire, and the data were collected from January to October 2010. The results were as follows: First, result related to preferred clothing image implicated fashion, esthetic sense, and clothing concerns. Preferred clothing image fell into 'intelligent-colorful' and 'urban-neat' categories. The preferred clothing style types of the participants were labeled as 'trendy', 'classic', 'conservative', and 'unique'. Second, the clothing image that participants thought to be of greater value in middle age included 'graceful' and 'elegant' allowing for the expression of age-appropriate style, high quality, and mind of plenty.

  • Aerodynamic pressures and forces were measured on a model of a solar panel containing six slender, parallel modules. Of particular importance to system design is the aerodynamically induced torque. The peak system torque was generally observed to occur at approach wind angles near the diagonals of the panel ($45^{\circ}$, $135^{\circ}$, $225^{\circ}$ and $315^{\circ}$) although large loads also occurred at $270^{\circ}$, where wind is in the plane of the panel, perpendicular to the individual modules. In this case, there was strong vortex shedding from the in-line modules, due to the observation that the module spacing was near the critical value for wake buffeting. The largest loads, however, occurred at a wind angle where there was limited vortex shedding ($330^{\circ}$). In this case, the bulk of the fluctuating torque came from turbulent velocity fluctuations, which acted in a quasi-steady sense, in the oncoming flow. A simple, quasi-steady, model for determining the peak system torque coefficient was developed.
