The vulcanizate structure of silica-filled compounds is affected by the filler-rubber interaction (FRI) due to the silica-rubber coupling reaction and the chemical crosslink density (CCD) of the matrix rubber. In this study, the vulcanizate structure changes of silica-filled compounds according to the silane and sulfur variation were quantitatively analyzed using the Flory-Rehner and Kraus equations. In efficiency vulcanization (EV) conditions with low sulfur content, FRI increased when the bis-[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl]tetrasulfide (TESPT) content increased, and the CCD clearly decreased. By contrast, in semi-EV conditions with high sulfur content, as TESPT content increased, the FRI increased the same way EV conditions, but the CCD was unchanged. Based on these results, it was confirmed that FRI of the silica-filled compounds increased as TESPT content increased, but CCD decreased or retained similar values according to the vulcanization system, indicating that the formation reaction of FRI was preferred over CCD.

When assessing the radiological consequences of postulated accident scenarios, it is of primary interest to determine the amount of radioactive fission gas accumulated in the fuel rod free volume. The state-of-the-art semi-empirical approach (ANS 5.4-2010) is reviewed and compared with a mechanistic approach to evaluate the release of radioactive fission gases. At the intra-granular level, the diffusion-decay equation is handled by a spectral diffusion algorithm. At the inter-granular level, a mechanistic description of the grain boundary is considered: bubble growth and coalescence are treated as interrelated phenomena, resulting in the grain-boundary venting as the onset for the release from the fuel pellets. The outcome is a kinetic description of the release of radioactive fission gases, of interest when assessing normal and off-normal conditions. We implement the model in SCIANTIX and reproduce the release of short-lived fission gases, during the CONTACT 1 experiments. The results show a satisfactory agreement with the measurement and with the state-of-the-art methodology, demonstrating the model soundness. A second work will follow, providing integral fuel rod analysis by coupling the code SCIANTIX with the thermo-mechanical code TRANSURANUS.

The underground structure, which has infinite or semi-infinite boundary conditions, is subjected by body forces and in-situ stresses. It also has stress concentration, which causes material nonlinear behavior, in the vicinity of the excavated surface. In this paper, some methods which can be used to transform domain integrals into boundary integrals are reviewed in order to analyze the effect of the body forces and the in-situ stresses. First, the domain integral of the body force is transformed into boundary integral by using the Galerkin tensor and divergence theorem. Second, it is transformed by writing the domain integral in cylindrical coordinates and using direct integration. The domain integral of the in-situ stress is transformed into boundary integral applying the direct integral method in cylindrical coordinates. The methodology is verified by comparing the results from the boundary element analysis with those of the finite element analysis. Coupling the above boundary elements with finite elements, the nonlinear behavior that occurs locally in the vicinity of the excavation is analyzed and the results are verified. Thus, it is concluded that the domain integrals of body forces and in-situ stresses could be performed effectively by transforming them into the boundary integrals, and the nonlinear behavior can be reasonably analyzed by coupled nonlinear finite element and boundary element method. The result of this research is expected to he used for the analysis of the underground structures in the effective manner.
The transmission of vibration energy through beam-plate junctions in vibration intensity analysis called power new analysis (PFA) has been studied. PFA is an analytic tool for the prediction of frequency averaged vibration response of built-up structures at medium to high frequency ranges. The power transmission and reflection coefficients between the semi-infinite beam and plate are estimated using the wave transmission approach. For the application of the power coefficients to practical complex structures, the numerical methods, such as finite element method are needed to be adapted to the power flow governing equation. To solve the discontinuity of energy density at the joint, joint matrix is developed using energy flow coupling relationships at the beam-plate joint. Using the joint matrix developed in this paper, an idealized ship stem part is modeled with finite element program, and vibration energy density and intensity are calculated.

Offshore wind turbines are considered as a fundamental part to develop substantial, alternative energy sources. In this highly flexible structures, monopiles are usually used as support foundations. Since the monopiles are large diameter (3.5 to 7 m) deep foundations, they result in extremely stiff short monopiles where the slenderness (length to diameter) may range between 5 and 10. Consequently, their elastic deformation patterns under lateral loading differ from those of small diameter monopiles usually employed for supporting structures in offshore oil and gas industry. For this reason, design recommendations (API and DNV) are not appropriate for designing foundations for offshore wind turbine structures as they have been established on the basis of full-scale load tests on long, slender and flexible piles. Furthermore, as these facilities are very sensitive to rotations and dynamic changes in the soil-pile system, the accurate prediction of monopile head displacement and rotation constitutes a design criterion of paramount importance. In this paper, the Fourier Series Aided Finite Element Method (FSAFEM) is employed for the determination of static impedance functions of monopiles for OWT subjected to horizontal force and/or to an overturning moment, where a non-homogeneous soil profile has been considered. On the basis of an extensive parametric study, and in order to address the problem of head stiffness of short monopiles, approximate analytical formulae are obtained for lateral stiffness $K_L$, rotational stiffness $K_R$ and cross coupling stiffness $K_{LR}$ for both rough and smooth interfaces. Theses expressions which depend only on the values of the monopile slenderness $L/D_p$ rather than the relative soil/monopile rigidity $E_p/E_s$ usually found in the offshore platforms designing codes (DNV code for example) have been incorporated in the expressions of the OWT natural frequency of four wind farm sites. Excellent agreement has been found between the computed and the measured natural frequencies.

The stochiometric mix of evaporating materials for the CuGaTe$_2$ single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal furnance. For extrapolation method of X-ray diffraction patterns for the CuGaTe$_2$ polycrystal, it was found tetragonal structure whose lattice constant a$\_$0/ and c$\_$0/ were 6.025 ${\AA}$ and 11.931 ${\AA}$, respectively. To obtain the single crystal thin films, CuGaTe$_2$ mixed crystal was deposited on throughly etched semi-insulator GaAs(100) substrate by the Hot Wall Epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperature were 670 $^{\circ}C$ and 410 $^{\circ}C$ respective1y, and the thickness of the single crystal thin films is 2.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$. The crystalline structure of single crystalthin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). Hall effect on this sample was measured by the method of van der Pauw and studied on carrier density and mobility dependence on temperature. The carrier density and mobility of CuGaTe$_2$ single crystal thin films deduced from Hall data are 8.72${\times}$10$\^$23/㎥, 3.42${\times}$10$\^$-2/㎡/V$.$s at 293K, respectively. From the photocurrent spectrum by illumination of perpendicular light on the c - axis of the CuGaTe$_2$ single crystal thin film, we have found that the values of spin orbit coupling Δs.o and the crystal field splitting Δcr were 0.0791 eV and 0/2463eV at 10K, respectively. From the PL spectra at 10K, the peaks corresponding to free bound excitons and D-A pair and a broad emission band due to SA is identified. The binding energy of the free excitons are determined to be 0.0470eV and the dissipation energy of the donor -bound exciton and acceptor-bound exciton to be 0.0490eV, 0.00558eV, respectively.

Using extrapolation method of X-ray diffraction patterns for the $CuInS_2$ polycrystal, it was found tetragonal structure whose lattice constant $a_0$ and $c_0$ were $5.524\;{\AA}$ and $11.142\;{\AA}$, respectively. To obtain the single crystal thin films, $CuInS_2$ mixed crystal was deposited on throughly etched semi-insulator GaAs(100) substrate by the hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperature were 640 t and 430 t, respectively and the thickness of the single crystal thin films was $2{\mu}m$. Hall effect on this sample was measured by the method of van dot Pauw and studied on carrier density and temperature dependence of mobility. The carrier density and mobility deduced from Hall data are $9.64{\times}10^{22}/m^3,\;2.95{\times}10^{-2}\;m^2/V{\cdot}s$ at 293 K, respectively The optical energy gaps were found to be 1.53 eV at room temperature. From the photocurrent spectrum by illumination of perpendicular light on the c - axis of the thin film, we have found that the values of spin orbit coupling splitting ${\Delta}So$ and the crystal field splitting ${\Delta}Cr$ were 0.0211 eV and 0.0045 eV at 10 K, respectively. From PL peaks measured at 10K, 807.7nm (1.5350ev) mean Ex peak of the free exciton emission, also 810.3nm (1.5301eV) expresses $I_2$ peak of donor-bound exciton emission and 815.6nm (1.5201eV) emerges $I_1$ peak of acceptor-bound exciton emission. In addition, the peak observed at 862.0nm (1.4383eV) was analyzed to be PL peak due to donor-acceptor pair(DAP).

A two-dimensional linear method has been developed for the motion and the second-order steady force arising from the hydrodynamic coupling between waves and currents in the presence of a body of arbitrary shape. Interaction between the incident wave and current in the absence of the body lies in the realm beyond our interest. A Fredholm integral equation of the second kind is employed in association with the Haskind's potential for a steadily moving source of pulsating strength located in or below the free surface. The numerical calculations at the preliminary stage showed a significant fluctuation of the hydrodynamic forces on the surface-piercing body. The problem is approximately solved by using the asymptotic Green function for $U^2{\rightarrow}0$. The original Green function, however, is applied for the fully submerged body. Numerical calculations are made for a submerged and for a half-immersed circular cylinder and extensively for the mid-ship section of a Lewis-form. Some of the results are compared with other analytical results without any available experimental data. The current has strong influence on roll motion near resonance. When the current opposes the waves, the roll response are generally negligible in the low frequency region. The current has strong influence on roll motion near resonance. When the current opposes the wave, the roll response decreases. When the current and wave come from the same direction, the roll response increases significantly, as the current speed increases. The mean drift forces and moment on the submerged body are more affected by current than those on the semi-immersed circular cylinder or on the ship-like section in the encounter frequency domain.

Design lifetime of a wind turbine is required to be at least 20 years. The most important step to ensure the deign is to evaluate the loads on the wind turbine as accurately as possible. In this study, extreme design load of a offshore wind turbine using Garrad Hassan (GH) Bladed and National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) FAST codes are calculated considering structural dynamic loads. These wind turbine aeroelastic analysis codes are high efficiency for the rapid numerical analysis scheme. But, these codes are mainly based on the mathematical and semi-empirical theories such as unsteady blade element momentum (UBEM) theory, generalized dynamic wake (GDW), dynamic inflow model, dynamic stall model, and tower influence model. Thus, advanced CFD-dynamic coupling method is also applied to conduct cross verification with FAST and GH Bladed codes. If the unsteady characteristics of wind condition are strong, such as extreme design wind condition, it is possible to occur the error in analysis results. The NREL 5 MW offshore wind turbine model as a benchmark case is practically considered for the comparison of calculated designed loads. Computational analyses for typical design load conditions such as normal turbulence model (NTM), normal wind profile (NWP), extreme operation gust (EOG), and extreme direction change (EDC) have been conducted and those results are quantitatively compared with each other. It is importantly shown that there are somewhat differences as maximum amount of 18% among numerical tools depending on the design load cases.
