  • In this study, integration control of air-cell seat and semi-active suspension is proposed to minimize the road-tyre force which can cause uncomfortable feeling to rider. The proposed integration control with sliding perturbation observer is consisted of air-cell seat control which uses the force generated by air-cell and the sky-hook control. The air-cell seat itself has been modeled as a 1 degree of freedom spring-damper system. The actual characteristics of the air-cell have been analyzed through experiments. In this paper, we introduces a new robust motion control algorithm using partial state feedback for a nonlinear system with modelling uncertainties and external disturbances. The major contribution of this work is the development and design of robust observer for the state and the perturbation. The combination skyhook controller and air-cell controller using the observer improves control performance, because of the robust routine called Sliding Observer Design for Integration Control of Air-Cell Seat and Semi-active Suspension. The simulation results show a high accuracy and a good performance.

  • The suspension systems currently in use can be classified as passive, semi-active and active. The passive suspension systems are the most commonly used due their low price and high reliability. However, this system cannot assure the desired performance form a modern suspension system. An important improvement of suspension performance is achieved by the active systems. This paper treats active damper system and applying DC-Motor. In this system, all the energy for active control is supplied from the damper, which regenerates energy. And simulations by sky-hook control.

  • In this paper a self-tuning gain-scheduled skyhook control for semi-active suspension systems is investigated. The dynamic characteristics of a continuously variable damper including electro-hydraulic pressure control valves is analyzed. A 2-d.o.f. time-varying quarter-car model that permits variations in sprung mass and suspension spring coefficient is considered. The self-tuning skyhook control algorithm proposed in this paper requires only the measurement of body acceleration. The absolute velocity of the sprung mass and the relative velocity of the suspension deflection are estimated by using integral filters.   • Continuously variable damper can yield diverse damping forces for a single damping velocity. It is widely used in the semi-active suspension system since, with right control logics, it can enhance ride comfort compared to the passive damper while not degrading driving safety. A key to the successful design of the continuously variable damper is the knowledge of its complex and nonlinear characteristics. In this paper, research has been done for analyzing characteristics of the continuously variable damper. Various damper components have been investigated and their effects upon the force-velocity characteristics of the damper have been examined. The effects of the damper characteristics change upon ride comfort and driving safety have also been investigated by numerical simulations.

  • As the railway becomes higher, the reliable stability and riding comfort of higher railway are required. To improve the riding comfort of high-speed trains, it is very helpful to use active suspension system for railway. In Japan, the high-speed train, Shinkansen has adopted semi-active suspension system and now it is running in the main trunk. In this paper, the authors introduce several technical trends of vibration control methods of Japanese Shinkansen. And the installation of semi-active suspension to HSR 350x and the test result of test run on the Kyoung-Bu high speed ling are also explained. After development of HSR 350x, new R&D national project of high speed train is progressed by Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs. This project is the development of Electric Multiple Unit of high speed train with 400km/h of maximum test speed. These result would be helpful to progress next generation high speed project.

  • ER 유체(Electrorheological fluid)는 인가 전계에 따라 유체의 점도(Viscosity)와 댐핑력(Damping force)이 변화하는 혼합물질이며 반능동 현가장치, 고속 클러치, 진동 흡수장치 등에 적용되고 있다. ER 유체의 응용을 위해서는 강한 전계를 인가해 줄 수 있는 고전압 가변 전원장치가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 반능동 현가장치에 적용하기 위한 전원장치의 개발에 대하여 기술하였다. ER 유체의 전기적 특성, 고전압 전원장치의 요구조건, 전원장치의 설계 및 제작에 대하여 설명하였으며 최종적으로 실험을 통하여 개발된 고전압 전원장치가 ER 유체 응용에 적합함을 검증하였다.

  • Semi-active suspension systems are greatly expected to be in the mainstream of future controlled suspensions fur passenger cars. In this study, a continuous variable damper for a passenger car suspension is developed. It is controlled actively and exhibits high performance with light weight, low cost, and low energy consumption. To get fast response of the damper, reverse damping mechanism is adapted, and to get small pressure change rate after blow-off, a pilot controlled proportional valve is designed and analyzed. The reverse continuous variable damper is designed as a HS-SH damper which offers good body control with reduced transferred input force from tire, compared with any other type of suspension system. The damper structure is designed, so that rebound and compression damping force can be tuned independently, of which variable valve is placed externally. The rate of pressure change with respect to the flow rate after blow-offbecomes smooth when the fixed orifice size increases. Damping forces are measured with the change of the solenoid current at the different piston velocities to confirm the maximum hysteresis of 20N, linearity, and variance of damping farce. The damping farce variance is wide and continuous, and is controlled by the spoof opening, of which scheme is usually adapted in proportional valves. The reverse continuous variable damper developed in this study is expected to be utilized in the semi-active suspension systems in passenger cars after its performance and simplicity of the design is confirmed through real car test.

  • This paper presents a robust and superior control performance of a quarter-vehicle electrorheological (ER) suspension system. In order to achieve this goal, a moving sliding mode control algorithm is adopted, and its moving strategy is tuned by fuzzy logic. As a first step, ER damper is designed and manufactured for a passenger vehicle suspension system, and its field-dependent damping force is experimentally evaluated. After formulating the governing equation of motion for the quarter-vehicle ER suspension system, a stable sliding surface and moving algorithm based on fuzzy logic are formulated. The fuzzy moving sliding mode controller is then constructed and experimentally implemented. Control performances of the ER suspension system are evaluated in both time and frequency domains.
