Although vision has been considered as a top sensory organ in the Western culture until modern times, the significance of space experience that communicates with a body via complex perceptions has recently garnered attention. This study criticizes the limitations of a vision-centered space and has the goal of empirically examining the sensibility characteristics in a haptic space through post-structuralism views leading up to Gilles Deleuze's philosophical ideas. This study will explore the flow of senses from the philosophical and artistic standpoint and the sensibility characteristics in a haptic space by examining the theories on haptic perceptions in connection with a space. In order to test the existing theories and identify the differences in sensibilities depending on perceptual method, the sensibilities of participants were compared using SD method (Semantic Differential scale method) and a validity test was conducted using a statistical program SPSS. The research has revealed that the average sensitivity scale of complex haptic perception was higher than single perception that only relies on vision. In addition, there was a correlation between perceptual method based on various sensory organs and human sensitivities. This study is meaningful in that it can serve a foundation for empirical research on sensibility, since it has reexamined the relationship between space and participants and demonstrated and analyzed their sensitivities through an experiment.
Categorization in a vital means for dealing with the multitudes of entities in the world surrounding people. Among others, the perceptual and the evaluative similarities factors strongly affect categorization. The conventional SD-type procedure are insufficient in this regard, since it requires an individual subject to make isolated judgments about each stimulus to identify categorization in terms of a group tendency. It disregards the individual categorization in which the similarities are of great importance. Thus in this study the phased emotional evaluation method is suggested based on the intuitive categorization of stimuli and on the similarity judgement of representative/ non-representative case in each category. To verify the effectiveness of the suggested evaluation method the scanned jewelry images are selected as test stimuli for emotional evaluation experiment. As a result of the evaluation experiment, the conventional SD-type procedure is complemented by the emotional evaluation method in phases of the task of intuitive categorization, the selection of the representative images and the setup of the evaluation score of the representative images to internally supplied anchors of evaluating non-representative images.
Modern people come to have high standard and variety need for the oneself expression these days. This phenomenon also, appears in the house space clearly. There are design characteristics in an element expressing a lifestyle and personality in the house space and a living room is the space that is important at time to do a design characteristics plan. Therefore, this study is going to analyze the design characteristics of the apartment house which is a representative house type these days. Concretely, there are design characteristics that a color, an Image, a style. This study used questionary survey from June 10, 2008 to July 9. The color analyzed a color and tone through a color palette of PCIS and the living room image used SD(semantic differential method) method by a concrete analysis method. The result of the analysis were as follows; 1) Various colors and tone were prefer in a house future than the house where lived in. 2) It was done prefer to 'comfort' image for the future living room image in the future but 'provocative' image and 'splendid' were not done a choice 3) A 'modern style' was done prefer to of with a house living room style in the future.

The scientific verification of the physiological and psychological effects that result from interaction with green plants would not only provide objective knowledge on the psychological effect of green but would also establish useful grounds for the creation of green spaces that consider human emotions. The present study measured the cerebral activity(cerebral blood flow) and the autonomic nervous system activity (blood pressure, pulse rate, amylase) of fifteen Korean male subjects as they inhaled the natural scent diffused by pine needles. Impression and mood state evaluations of the reactions to the pine scent were carried out using the SD method and POMS. Cerebral activity was observed to be significantly activated in the feeling, judgment, and motor areas of the frontal lobe, as well as the memory area in the temporal lobe. Verbal evaluations by the SD method and POMS indicated a pine scent left natural but stimulated and active impressions, provided vigor, and also reduced confusion. The autonomic nervous system activities, however, showed no significant differences. These findings verified scientifically that a pine scent vitalizes humans both physiologically and psychologically. These results could be useful as fundamental data for the design of green spaces that consider human emotional aspects.
This study reviews studies that used skin temperature in order to establish an emotion evaluation protocol based on skin temperature for home appliances. A survey of skin temperature evaluation papers was conducted by the following five stages: (1) keyword search, (2) title screening, (3) abstract screening, (4) full paper screening, and (5) relevance evaluation. Selected papers were reviewed for: purpose, recruitment criteria of participants, the number of participants, apparatus, procedure, measures, analysis methods, and major findings. Thermistor sensors and thermography are used for the measurement of skin temperature. Skin temperature sensors are attached to 4 - 10 locations on the body and their mean of skin temperature is calculated by Ramanatan's 4-point or Hardy & Dubois's 7-point method. Semantic differential (SD) method and thermography measuring facial surface temperature have been used for emotion evaluation. The SD method provides a set of adjective pairs related to a product and evaluates changes in emotion from the use of the product. The range of facial surface analyzed is defined in the thermal image and temperature changes before and after the evaluation are analyzed. The evaluation items of home appliances include form, color, material, aesthetics, satisfaction, novelty, convenience, pleasantness, and excellence. Many existing emotion studies using skin temperature do not apply physiological and psychological methods. This study provides basic data to establish a skin temperature and emotion evaluation protocol by examining literature for skin temperature and evaluation of sensitivity.

In recently, Is inhabiting more than 70% indoors during a day in case of company employee and ordinary people which is looking at usual business. Therefore Thermal comfort of human body about indoor temperature and air flow acting very heftily. When intestine temperature is fallen for external low temperature and air flow in winter in case enter into heated room feel comfort by effect of temperature and feel comfort or discomfort by room heating condition gradually. Therefore it is important that grasp thermal comfort about temperature and air flow in heating to keep continuous comfort in indoor dwelling. Temperature and thermal comfort factor of emotion & sensitivity image exert fair effect since heating middle although thermal comfort change greatly effect on sensation about temperature at actuality heating early. Need much study yet in vantage point of emotion & sensitivity although much study were held about thermal and comfort sensibility and when heat in existing research until now. Therefore this study is targeting that evaluate thermal comfort through introduction of estimation method by emotion & sensibility image real and synthetic sensibility about thermal environment that is becoming winter heating.

It is a Known fact that driving through long tunnel increases possibility of traffic accident because of psychological feeling of insecurity and dispersion of drivers' concentration since driving in narrow and limited space for a longtime. It, therefore, results in raising transportation and environment problems, such as traffic accident difficult to be properly dealt with and ventilation. This study aims at proposing a method of augmenting driving amenity by improving the internal lighting facilities in the tunnel. The study is conducted by investigating internal landscapes of tunnels by lighting colors, which are currently being operated. The Color Planning System (CPS), developed by SHARP Co. Ltd, is exploited for selecting adjective that express the sensitivity image on lighting colors. The CPS is an example that applies to sensitivity of human body for products design development. The CPS takes the following process to define the color : 1) expressing "Pvoduct's Image" as "A Word (adjective)" and 2) referring "A Word" to "Image Scale", and 3) determining the color through this "Image Panel". The study is processed by making a questionnaire using the semantic differential (SD) scale, grasping the consciousness structure of experimental persons through the Factor Analysis, and building a model in which dependent variable is "Degree of Preference" about internal landscape in tunnel using LISREL(LInear Structural RELations).
In this paper, we propose a novel method to analyze and quantitatively evaluate the impression of landscapes and soundscapes about traditional area of Chungnam Asan city in Korea. For this, we collated data about impression evaluation of Korean and Japanese students and, based on these result, we proved the validity and usefulness of the evaluation system that we proposed through this study. The research process conducted in this study as follows: first of all, we had selected five traditional places of interest in Asan City, and investigated various conditional elements of the area including soundscapes which is forming the landscape using video camera. And we made both Korean and Japanese students evaluate the impression for these videotaped landscape data through using the SD(semantic differential) method. And then, we quantified these qualitative data through applying the quantification theory and cluster analysis method to them. Though this process, we could obtain both data as a result derived by classifying each sample and categorizing levels of those impression evaluation. Because of totally difference between those two analyzing processes, which one is for sample classification and the other is for determining impression level, we could validate the usefulness of our evaluation system through conducting comparative analysis of results from both methods. Analysis showed that our novel evaluation system for landscape is effective and, in most part of the traditional landscape, Japanese students' responses are different far from the Korean students' responses.
Background : This study was attempted to provide us with basic data on how to environmental improvement with patients for examination, and to offer them better treatment. This study was performed to compare the patients, perception between before and after improvement in the diagnostic radiography room. Methods : The data was collected by interviewing 75 patients who underwent the radiography under the diagnostic radiology at Seoul National University Hospital in Korea. In this study, a mock powder room was installed with variable LED lighting environments in order to conduct the experiments. The experimental conditions include luminaire type, illuminance ratio, vertical illuminance and color temperatures. The evaluation methods used were the Semantic Differential Method and a subjective evaluation on activities through observation. The SD evaluation result factor analysis categorizes ideas into three factors: brightness, emotion, and glare. The vertical bracket or the combined luminaire (luminous panel+ Vertical bracket) has better brightness than luminous panel. A vertical illuminance of 500lx is not significantly difference as compared to 600lx, allowing 500lx to be considered standard. The emotional atmosphere is evaluated as being better at lower color temperature. The luminous panel is the best for reducing glare while the vertical bracket is the worst. The best conditions differ according to the illuminance ratio of the luminous panel and vertical bracket. In the subjective evaluation (satisfaction with lighting environment, suitability to activity) the combined luminaire and 4000K received the best evaluation.
