  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate influencing factors in self-efficacy among college students. Methods: The sample consisted of 553 college students in C & K cities. Self-report questionnaires were used to measure the variables. In data analysis, SPSS WIN 20.0 program was utilized for descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and regression analysis. Results: The mean score for Self-Efficacy was 66.62. Self-Efficacy was significantly different according to gender(t=2.076, p=.038), grade(F=11.077, p<.001), religion(F=4.666, p=.003), major(F=19.598, p<.001), economic status(F=6.570, p<.001), perceived health status(F=6.168, p<.001), and self-rated knowledge about health(F=12.936, p<.001). Multivariate analysis showed that major, self-rated knowledge about health, economic status, and perceived health status were significant predictors of self-efficacy and could explain 15.9% of total variability in this model. Conclusion: This study suggests that perceived health status and self-rated knowledge about health are significant factors in self-efficacy among college students. Therefore, the strategies of nursing intervention which improve these variables must be developed for college students.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive, cross-sectional study was to examine relationships among emotional labor, self-efficacy, and burnout of employees in public health centers. Factors that influence burnout of workers were also assessed. Methods: One hundred sixty six workers in public health centers completed a pack of self-report questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA along with $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Employees in public health centers seemed to experience emotional labor to some extent. There were statistically significant differences in burnout depending on the age of workers. Employees' burnout had a positive relationship with emotional labor and a negative relationship with self-efficacy. Factors influencing burnout of employees in public health centers were emotional dissonance, surveillance & monitoring of organization, age, and self-efficacy. Conclusion: Considering the findings from this study, health care providers need to develop effective interventions which increase the level of self-efficacy and decrease certain types of emotional labor for employees in public health centers and to help them effectively manage burnout.

The self-efficacy, religion and perceived health status were significant factors, which explained about 26% of the variance of the health-promoting behaviors. Multiple regression analysis showed that a powerful predictor of health-promoting behaviors among people living with HIV was self-efficacy. Conclusion: This study suggested that a focus of nursing intervention program on self-efficacy is necessary in order to increase health-promoting behaviors among people living with HIV.

Method: The participants were 72 teachers from 15 child care centers in Seoul City and Chung-Nam Province. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficients with SPSS 12.0 Win program. Results: The mean score for self-confidence was lower than knowledge and practice. Self-confidence score about emergency care for falls, fractures and resuscitation were lowest. For safety knowledge, scores about facility and environment were lowest. For health knowledge, scores about disease and symptoms were lowest. For practice, scores about seat belts and safe furniture arrangement were lowest. Significant correlations were found between practice and self-confidence. There were significant differences in the degree of knowledge according to education, and in practice according to age. Conclusions: Health and safety education programs for child care teachers are necessary for the promotion of knowledge, self-confidence and practice in health and safety. • Purpose: This cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate the prevalence of health risk behaviors by gender and grade and to examine the correlation between health risk behaviors and self-efficacy in early adolescents. Method: The sample of this study consisted of 1.693 early adolescents recruited from 7 middle schools in S-Gu, Seoul, Korea. Health risk behaviors were measured by the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance Survey (YRBS). Self-Efficacy was assessed by General Self-Efficacy (GSE). Results: About a third of the subjects had experience in drinking behavior about 19.4% in cigarette smoking (including cases of just one or two puffs), 25.9% in physical fight, 29.1% in thought about killing themselves (suicide-related behavior), 1.5% in drug. More than a half (60.5%) experienced at least one health risk behavior. Female students were more likely to report drinking experience and suicide-related experience. Health risk behaviors were not significantly correlated with self-efficacy in early adolescents. Conclusions: Many early adolescents had experience in health risk behaviors in the past. The findings of this research suggest the necessity of intensive prevention programs in middle school to motivate and prepare students to avoid these behaviors. In addition, these results may help health professionals plan appropriate screening and counselling for health problems in early adolescents.
