Objectives Schizophrenic patients have been shown to be impaired in both emotional self-awareness and recognition of others' facial emotions. Alexithymia refers to the deficits in emotional self-awareness. The relationship between alexithymia and recognition of others' facial emotions needs to be explored to better understand the characteristics of emotional deficits in schizophrenic patients. Methods Thirty control subjects and 31 schizophrenic patients completed the Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20-Korean version (TAS-20K) and facial emotion recognition task. The stimuli in facial emotion recognition task consist of 6 emotions (happiness, sadness, anger, fear, disgust, and neutral). Recognition accuracy was calculated within each emotion category. Correlations between TAS-20K and recognition accuracy were analyzed. Results The schizophrenic patients showed higher TAS-20K scores and lower recognition accuracy compared with the control subjects. The schizophrenic patients did not demonstrate any significant correlations between TAS-20K and recognition accuracy, unlike the control subjects. Conclusions The data suggest that, although schizophrenia may impair both emotional self-awareness and recognition of others' facial emotions, the degrees of deficit can be different between emotional self-awareness and recognition of others' facial emotions. This indicates that the emotional deficits in schizophrenia may assume more complex features.
This study is based on grounded theory methodology by Strauss & Corbin(1998). Ten hospitalized subjects were interviewed for data collection. In the process of data analysis, 'acceptance' is found to be the causal condition, while 'health professionals' skillfulness', 'ward environment', 'history of hospitalization', and 'general conditions' were identified as context, 'felling of relief' as the core phenomenon, 'self-efficacy', 'support of others', and 'life style' as the intermediate situation, 'passive reaction', 'alternative reaction' and 'active reaction' as the strategy and 'stabilization', 'satisfaction', 'hope' and 'carrying out' as consequences. 'Feeling of relief' is found to go through the three stages of recognition-generation-maintenance after the five different patterns. 1) In case the health professionals are skillful, the ward environment is favorable, the general conditions of the patients improved and as a result the feeling of relief is strong, during the first hospitalization, the self-efficacy of the subjects tends to be strong. Purpose - In recent years, management scholars have expressed growing interest in the concept of person-Job fit because of having many benefits for employees' attitudes and behaviors. The related research is needed to determine what specific types of fit are related to each other, and to get important individual outcomes. Person-job fit of employees in service organization plays an important role in company as well as person in service industry. Person-job fit, representing the consistency between person (service provider) and job (service provided to the customers), gives significant and positive effects on the attitude and behavior of service provider. On the basis of the study background, the purpose of this study is as follows. First, we would like to examine the effects of person-job fit of service provider on their emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is divided into four sub-factors such as self-understanding, understanding others, emotional utilization, and emotional regulation. Second, we would like to identify the relationships between job satisfaction and sub-factors such as self-understanding, understanding others, emotional utilization, and emotional regulation. Research design, data, and methodology - We performed structural equation model using Spss 18.0 and Amos 20.0 in order to verify the hypotheses. Subjects were golf service assistants who were high-touching service with high degree in interaction and long contact time with customers. 178 out of the total 200 surveys were used in evaluation from helpers of golf service working as full-time service provider after selecting two locations of golf course located near Busan. From the evaluation of reliability and validity with variables used in this research, they satisfied and confirmed certain standard. Results - The results are as follows. First, as the results of identifying the relationships between person-job fit and emotional intelligence of service provider, person-job fit did not have positive and significant effect on self-understanding. On the other hand, it affected positively and significantly other factors in emotional intelligence such as emotion to others, emotional utilization, and emotional regulation. Second, as the results of identifying the relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction, sub-factors in emotional intelligence such as emotion to others, emotional utilization, and emotional regulation except self-emotion affected significantly and positively job satisfaction. However, self-emotion did not have significant and positive effects on job satisfaction. Conclusion - These results will be valuable and used for service providers. In addition, many service providers will recognize that person-job fit is very important to get a job. This research has a purpose on the assumption that appropriateness between individual and task in service industry shall act as major influence in emotional intelligence of service provider. Recognitive ability of service provider is also very important per characteristics of service, but emotional intelligence that interacts and connected directly with most customers can be a very meaningful factor as well. Emotional intelligence allows people to recognize, understand, and empathize the emotion of customers shall be a positive reinforcement for customers to evaluate the service ultimately.

It can be seen that the word "harmony" runs through this thinking all the time. This paper aims at viewing Chinese people's philosophy in Ming Dynasty from the Piaohailu. Likewise, the starting points of the paper are also these three aspects which are people's relationships with nature, others and themselves. Based on this angle, it tries to conduct a simple analysis and study by taking Korean official Cui Pu's Piaohailu as the main historical data.
The purpose of this study was to identify emotional responses, of stroke patients using Q analysis. From the data analysis, five types of emotional responses in stroke patients were classified as follows. 1. Acceptance and Overcoming : They attached to life strongly and had self-confidence of recovery. They were striving against their situation through using anything else good for their recovery. 2. Anger Type : They recognized a labile feeling and were angered easily. They had a self-confident and self-esteemed personality before they had a stroke. 3. Conflict Type : They wanted interaction with others. This individual recognized that no one knows their agonies. They were thankful to god or their family, while they could not control their minds. Their family supports were low. 4. Deficiency of self-esteem Type : They had a self-confidence of recovery, but they were in fear of interaction with others. Especially, they were ashamed of themselves. They have a high sense of responsibility and nigh self-esteem for themselves before they had a stroke. 5. Despair Type. : They were sorry to trouble their family. They felt depression, anxiety, darkness, uselessness of themselves, and they wanted to die. They recognized financial burden. for their family. The characteristics of the five types of stroke patient identified in this study will be used to assess emotional nursing needs for stroke patients. The findings of this study will provide practical guidelines for developing nursing interventions for stroke patients based on the characteristics of subjectivity types.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of adolescent self-conscious emotion, empathy, forgiveness and prosocial behavior across gender and grade, to analyze the difference between the correlations among prosocial behavior and other variables across gender and grade, and to investigate the effects of adolescent self-conscious emotion, empathy, forgiveness on prosocial behavior in each gender and grade group. The subjects were 272 adolescents who were recruited by purposive sampling in the Chungbuk area. The results indicated that the empathy of girls was higher than that of boys. Boys showed a stronger correlation between prosocial behavior and guilt than girls. Next, boys' prosocial behavior was predicted by cognitive empathy, guilt, and pride, whereas girls' prosocial behavior was predicted by forgiveness toward others, pride, cognitive empathy and emotional empathy. Last, middle school students' prosocial behavior was predicted by pride and guilt, whereas that of high school students' was predicted by cognitive empathy, guilt, pride, and forgiveness toward others and the situation. In conclusion, self-conscious emotions, empathy, and forgiveness all predicted adolescent prosocial behavior but in different ways across gender and grade. It implies that adolescents need diverse educational programs according to their gender and grade, to promote their self-conscious emotions, moral emotions, and prosocial behavior.
This study was conducted investigate the practice of health promoting behavior in hospital workers. The subjects for this study were 529 hospital war kern working in four university hospitals in the Kyong-in area. Data were collected by using constructed questionnaires from January 13. 1997 to February 24, 1997, analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANOVA and $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ comparison test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. The results were as follows; 1. The mean score of health promoting behavior for hospital workers was 2.40. The health promoting behavior in relation to the characteristics of the subjects varied significantly according to sex, age, career, religion and number of children. 2. The mean score of health perception was 3.29. The health perception in relation to the characteristics of the subjects showed no statistical discrepancy. 3. The mean score of self-esteem was 3.80. The self-esteem in relation to the characteristics of the subjects varied significantly according to sex, age, occupation, educational background, religion and marital status. 4. The mean score of self-efficacy was 69.63. The self-efficacy in relation to the characteristics of the subjects sailed significantly according ding to sex, age, occupation, career, religion, marital status and number of children. 5. The mean score of internal health locus of control was 2.88. The internal health locus of control in relation to the characteristics of the subjects varied significantly according to sex and occupation. The mean score of chance health locus of control was 2.08. The chance health locus of control in relation to the characteristics of the subjects varied significantly according to occupation and religion. The mean score of powerful others health locus of control was 2.35. The powerful others health locus of control in relation to the characteristics of the subjects varied significantly according to career, educational background, marital status and number of children. 6. Performance in health promoting behavior was significantly correlated with self-esteem, self-efficacy, powerful others health locus of control, health perception and internal health locus of control. 7. The combination of self-esteem, powerful others health locus of control, health perception, self-efficacy, internal health lot-us of control, age and marital status explained 45.72% of the variance of likelihood to engage in health promoting behavior.
The purpose of this study was to identify the major factors affecting performance in health promoting lifestyle of industrial workers. The subjects for this study 241 workers employed in S company in T city and were obtained by a convenience sample. Data were collected from March 2 to April 28. 1998. The collected data were analyzed using frequency. percent. mean. cronbach alpha. t-test. ANOVA. Person coefficients of correlation. Duncan test. stepwise multiple regression with an SPSS program. The results of this are summarized as follows. 1) The average score of performance in the health promoting lifestyle was 2.62. The variable with the highest degree of performance was harmonious relationship. whereas the one with the lowest degree was professional health maintenance. 2) Performance in the health promoting lifestyle was significantly correlated with self esteem, internal health locus of control and powerful others health locus of control. 3) Performance in the health promoting lifestyle was significantly correlated with such demographic variables as age. religion, education level. marital state. family number. types of dwelling. 4) The most important factor that affect performance in the health promoting lifestyle was powerful others health locus of control and self esteem. On the basis of this study. other factors affecting others health promoting lifestyle should be identified.
The purposes of this study are to classify the male consumers in new generation by evaluating the fashion mania elements and to examine the differences among consumer groups in product attributes, benefits, dressing for self and others, and sensation seeking tendency. Fashion mania elements are compose of purchase frequency, the storage of clothes, the affection toward clothes and fashion knowledge. Data were obtained from 492 adult male living in Seoul and Kyunggi Do. Statistics used for data analysis were frequency, means, one-way Anova, Duncan's multiple range test, factor analysis, cluster analysis using Spss 9.0. The results can be summarized as follows: There consumer groups are identified based on the fashion mania elements: fashion mania, fashion interests, non-fashion mania. The fashion mania group has positive fashion behavior and high fashion attitude, the fashion interests group has high fashion attitude and light fashion behavior, non fashion mania group has light fashion attitude and behavior. Fashion mania group regard intrinsic attributes very highly in order to express individuality, shows the tendency to dress for self strongly rather than to dress for others. And fashion mania group shows a high sensation seeking tendency compared with the remaining groups.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between child care teachers' emotional intelligence, communicative competence, and job stress. Methods: Four hundred and fifty child care teachers answered questionnaires on three research variables. Data were analyzed by correlation analyses and regression analyses. Results: First, child care teachers' emotional intelligence, i.e. self-emotion appraisal, others' emotion appraisal, uses of emotion, and regulation of emotion, were negatively related to job stress. Second, child care teachers' emotional intelligence, i.e. self-emotion appraisal, others' emotion appraisal, uses of emotion, and regulation of emotion, were positively associated with communicative competence. Third, child care teachers' communicative competence was negatively linked to job stress. Lastly, child care teachers' communicative competence partially mediated the relationship between self-emotion appraisal, others' emotion appraisal, regulation of emotion, and job stress, and child care teachers' communicative competence fully mediated the relationship between uses of emotion and job stress. Conclusion/Implications: This study suggests that high emotional intelligence and effective communication are important in order to reduce child care teachers' job stress.
