A geometric construction of an exact algebraic formula for graded partition functions, of which a special one is the classical unrestricted partition function p(n), from a diophantine point of view is presented. Moreover, the involved process allows us to compute the value of a graded partition function in an inductive manner with a geometrically built-in self-error-checking ability at each step for correctness of the computed values of the partition function under consideration.

The usefulness of unsteady combustion was experimentally investigated using confined premixed flames stabilized by a rearward-facing step. For this purpose, apparatus of forced pulsating mixture supply, which could be modulated its amplitude and frequency, was designed. The unsteady combustion used in this experiment plays an important role in controlling self-excited combustion oscillations and furthermore it exhibits desirable performance, from a practical point of view, such as high combustion and reduction of pollutant emission like nitric oxide.

The recent issue on the withdrawal of U.S. Forces from Korea Suggests an Urgency of Self Defense of Korea. The expected huge defense budget and her armed forces create a need for an operational analysis. It is shown through a statistical analysis what some of the opportunity costs of defense spending have been. Some evidences about what some of the economy sacrifice if defense spending rises have been analyzed to provide executive departments with a quantitative basis for decisions. The Korea-U.S. alliance is discussed in view of the developmental effects of U.S. aids and deterrent effects of U.S.F.K.

This article describes a novel model-based compensating neural network (NN) model developed to be used in our active binocular head controller, which addresses both the kinematics and dynamics aspects in trying to precisely track a moving object of interest to keep it in view. The compensating NN model is constructed using two classes of self-tuning neural models: namely Neural Gas (NG) algorithm and SoftMax function networks. The resultant servo controller is shown to be able to handle the tracking problem with a minimum knowledge of the dynamic aspects of the system.

In this paper auto-tuning scheme of weight function in the neural networks has been suggested by immune algorithm for nonlinear process. A number of structures of the neural networks are considered as learning methods for control system. The equivalent load method has been widely used in the design and analysis of prestressed concrete structures. The purpose of this paper is to explore several important method of obtaining equivalent loads and to clarify the advantages and limitations of each method. The methods devised in this study include the use of curvature of tendon, characteristics of primary moment, self-equilibrium conditions, and linear segments approximation of tendon. It is shown that equivalent lading system is not uniquely determined in some cases and careful engineering judgement is required from the view point of accuracy and practical convenience.

Image morphing to generate 2D transitions between images may be difficult even to express simple 3D transformations. In addition, previous view morphing method requires control points for postwarping, and is much affected by self- occlusion. This paper presents a new morphing algorithm that can generate automatically in-between scenes from un-calibrated images. Our algorithm rectifies input images based on the fundamental matrix, which is followed by linear interpolation with bilinear disparity map. In final, we generate in-between views by inverse mapping of homography between the rectified images. The proposed method nay be applied to photographs and drawings, because neither knowledge of 3D shape nor camera calibration, which is complex process generally, is required. The generated in-between views can be used in various application areas such as simulation system of virtual environment and image communication.

The purpose of this study was to examine effects of practicing martial arts upon job performance of employees engaged in security industry. For positive investigation, 400 employees were questioned using some questionnaires; as a result, we obtained the following conclusion of the relation between the extent of the practicing martial art and the ability of performing their jobs. First, the more they practice martial art, the better and higher their mental health and psychological stability more than control group. Especially, when crime is reported to them or they arrest a criminal taken in an act of crime, the degree of their anxiety was low and they strongly expose self-confidence, their view of moral achievement and their sense of morality. Second, the more they practice martial art, the higher their ability of arrestment a criminal in an act and self-defense is. Because practicing martial art make their vital power and physical strength promoted. Third, the more they practice martial art, the more sincere the trust and friendship among colleagues are. As well they seem to feel strong solidarity oneanother. But practicing martial art appeared that it doesnt have an effect on coping with complications among generations and the gaps between master sergeant and them. Fourth, employees engaged in security industry practicing martial art is not only used in job performance merely as a technique; it is also effective on the mind that it make their anxiety dissolved and give them self-confidence.

While the endeavor to introduce the service activity in the college education is enlarged, the object of this study is to introduce the concept of service learning in social work education. The 'content centered service-learning' is focusing on the practical education, the liaison and participation in community and the promotion of civil awareness which are very important in social work education that focuses on the interest and participation in the human and social problem as practical study. This study contemplates the educational effect of the course of social work combined with service learning. This study verifies the self-efficacy, the altruism, the change of social responsibility of students and the effect by carrying out the course of social welfare and service activities side by side. To evaluate the effect of service learning, pre and post test and qualitative analysis in journal of service activity, the discussion during the class and the mid and final term evaluation were done. Through the service learning, students showed the promotion in self-esteem, the altruism, the social responsibility, the self insights as a social worker and were able to have the chance to consider their future job. From the view point of local centers, it was evaluated that the service activity of students was helpful to the institutions and the clients, and that the liaison between the community agency and the college and the experience of integration of service learning and the course of social welfare was helpful too. Based on the above mentioned results, this study provide some recommendations in implementation of service-learning as the teaching methodology of social work.
