Method: The research design was pre-post test design of an experimental group. 41 subjects with fibromyalgia were subjected to our study. Participants of this program were participated with a group of 8 to 12 members with duration of two and half hours for two years(March. 1998 to January. 2000). The Self-efficacy was measured by the Self-efficacy scale. Symptom was converted to scores based on visual analog scale. Physical disability was measured with questionnaires prepared by researchers of this study. Data were collected by the structured interview using questionnaires after self-help program and after 8 months. Data were analyzed by frequency, $x^2$-test and repeated t-test using SPSS 11.0 for windows. Result: Daily activities were not changed but self-described symptom was changed after 8 months. After 8 months, exercise performance along with taking drugs showed significantly lowering trend with respect to self-help program. Relieved symptom of patient with fibromyalgia has continued until 8months after 6weeks program of self-help. Also Promoted self-efficacy of patient with fibromyalgia continued after 8months. After 8 months, in self-described physical disability has showed significantly worse off than after self-help program. Conclusion: In this study, the long-term effects after self-help program for fibromyalgia have showed all symptoms and self-efficacy except exercise performance and physical disability. Therefore, it will be desirable that application of the follow up program with peer group meeting.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of self-respect, academic self-efficacy, and career maturity on student adaptation to college and learning persistence. For this study, a web survey was conducted on the students who were in college of engineering at D college in Seoul. A total of 702 samples were analyzed for this research. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, all variables (self-respect, academic self-efficacy, career maturity) had positive effects on student adaptation to college significantly. Secondly, self-respect and academic self-efficacy had positive effects on learning persistence except career maturity. Thridly, the mediation analyses revealed that the relations between learning persistence and self-respect, academic self-efficacy, and career maturity were partially mediated by student adaptation to college. Finally, student adaptation to college had also positive effects on learning persistence. The results indicate a need to enhance student adaptation to college and design programs that support learning persistence for university students.

Factor analysis was performed to determine the leading difference real-self image and ideal-self image, and cluster analysis was employed to identify groups of respondents based on the delineated five image difference factors. Based on the finding, three distinct groups were formed: ideal-self image seeker group, moderators group, real-self image seeker group. And logistic regression was used to assess the relative importance that demographic characteristics play in determining the segmentation. The results of this study show statistically significant differences among the three groups in terms of demographic. Marketing and management implications for effectively targeting the segments are discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of perception of society and evaluation of oneself in the relationship between self-compassion and life satisfaction. A survey was conducted on 215 full-time workers along with self-compassion scales, life satisfaction scales, social well-being and core self-evaluation. As a result of the study, social well-being and core self-evaluation completely mediated the relationship between self-compassion and life satisfaction, and the difference of indirect effects between social well-being and core self-evaluation was not significant. These results show that the effect of self-compassion improving life satisfaction can be explained through social well-being and core self-evaluation. The implications and limitations of this study for future research were discussed.
