Learners' Attitude toward E-Learning: The Effects of Perceived System Quality and E-Learning Usefulness, Self-Management of Learning, and Self-Efficacy

  • The coronavirus pandemic has brought about dramatic changes in education, evidenced most clearly by the increase in e-learning. Thus, to identify how learners' attitudes toward e-learning are affected by diverse factors, this study examined the effects of perceived system quality and usefulness, the self-management of learning, and self-efficacy. A total of 236 college students participated in the survey. Multiple regression analysis was performed to test the study's proposed hypotheses. The study findings suggested that learners' attitudes toward e-learning are positively influenced by perceived e-learning usefulness, self-management of learning, and self-efficacy. However, the perceived system quality had no influence and no statistical significance.

  • For success in E-learning, support from a learning environment that enables learners to perform self-directed learning more effectively is assumed. However, most existing e-learning systems do not maximize the improvement in learners' self-regulated learning ability because they only partially accommodate factors that can facilitate self-directed learning. In this paper, a web-based e-learning system is designed and proposed that enables support of an enhanced self-directed learning environment by providing various learning methods, evaluation methods, learning content levels, and strategies for learning motivation in various conditions, and synthetically reflecting them. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed system, it was applied to the subject of data structures in a university course, and an online survey was conducted with the students. The results indicated that the proposed system can support a learning environment in which students can perform more effective self-directed learning, enhancing their learning ability.

  • A web-based instructor-learner system has changed the form into a learner-centered environment. Especially a self-regulated learning which is a self-leading and a positive learning, is an ideal learning, and the interest on it is more increasing. In this research, learners can organize the individualized course based on the learner's demand and learning level after making a contract process with the system, The self-regulated learning system which can recognize a learning status and result by analyzed data, and which can lead to a learning goal effectively by establishing a learning strategy, is designed and implemented. The proposed system provides the learner-centered learning environment which can process the differentiated and flexible individualized-teaming service considering an individual characteristic.

  • This study attempted to develop an efficient management plan that allows both workers and organizations to coexist by analyzing the factors that influence the level of organizational immersion of engineering students. Analysis methods included frequency analysis, t-test, pearson correlation analysis, and hierarchical analysis. Firstly, self-esteem and transfer of learning were influential factors on organizational commitment. Second, self-esteem and transfer of learning were influencing factors of self-efficacy. Third, self-efficacy was an influential factor in organizational commitment. Fourth, self-efficacy appeared as a mediating effect on self-esteem and organizational immersion in learning transfer. Therefore, it is necessary to look for various factors that can increase self-efficacy, and to find opportunities for students to be highly immersed in the organization while studying at the same time.

  • The Purpose of this study is to embody self-directed learning management system and contents which are considered of learner's interactivity and usability in e-learning environment; It is based on self directed teaching and learning strategies. It divides type of interaction centering on the learners into four categories: (1) learner and instructor (2) learner and learner (3) learner and contents (4) learner and learning management system. The specific elements of learning management system is set up and embodied to present the interaction strategies according to the above-mentioned patterns, to improve the self-directed learning ability and to facilitate an online communication. The learning contents based on the self directed learning strategies, design the interface in due consideration of the learners' usability based on six strategies such as simple navigation, consistency, intuitive interface, linkage, user supports and immediate feedback. This research makes up for the weak points in the self-directed functions of learning management system and links up with learning contents, therefore it has a value to improve learner's interactivity and usability. It is expected that the research results can be helpful in quality improvement of e-learning environment.

  • This paper examines the role of distance learning self-efficacy, belief in one's capabilities of using a system in the accomplishment of web-based distance learning, in predicting user intention to use and performance of distance learning system. It used self-efficacy theory and technology acceptance model(TAM) to build a model that predicts relationships between antecedents to students' distance learning self-efficacy assessments and their behavioral and attitudinal consequences. The model was tested using LISREL analysis on the sample of 250 students who have worked with the Distance Learning System. The results indicated partial support for the conceptual model. In accordance with TAM, perceived usefulness had strong direct effects on intention to use and performance, while perceived ease of use had both direct and indirect effects on intention to use, but not performance. Distance learning self-efficacy had only direct effect on perceived ease of use to use. Computer experience was found to have a strong positive effect on distance learning self-efficacy, and computer anxiety had a negative effect on distance learning self-efficacy. Implications of these findings are discussed for researchers and practitioners.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore improving ways of screening of self-directed learning in self-governing high schools for expanding self-initiated learning screening system. To achieve the above aim, it was used survey method to 99 admission teachers of 12 self-governing high schools and analyzed responses with SPSS program. The research findings are as follows. To expand self-initiated learning screening system in self-governing high schools, it needs to obtain admission members of entrance committee, pooling of external screening members, quick decision of school admission members, increasing payment, training and understanding of the system and consideration of admission documents and study plan. Some improving ways of the expanding of self-initiated learning screening may be listed as follows: 1) development of screening model for self-governing schools 2) policy consideration for self-governing public high school 3) expanding autonomy of school 4) supporting budget 5) sharing of operation case and reinforcement of public relations.

Effects of self-determination and learning commitment on the learning outcome of nurses currently under academic credit bank system (학점은행제 간호학과 재학 간호사의 자기 결정성, 학습몰입이 학습성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was done to explore the correlation among self-determination, learning commitment and learning outcomes and identify factors related learning outcomes under academic credit bank system. The survey was conducted self-report questionnaire. The data collection period was form April to November 2018. Participants were 144 registered nurses working currently under academic credit bank system. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 24.0. Learning outcomes had a positive correlation with self-determination and learning commitment. learning commitment. Self-determination was positively correlated learning commitment. Factors affecting learning outcomes included self-determination and learning commitment. And self-determination and learning commitment accounted for 32.1% of the variance in learning outcomes. Therefore, developing learning outcomes support for improving self-determination and learning commitment. Future research will be needed to clarify the effects of learning outcomes promotion program on self-determination and learning commitment.

  • This paper considers reinforcement learning control with the self-organizing map. Reinforcement learning uses the observable states of objective system and signals from interaction of the system and environment as input data. For fast learning in neural network training, it is necessary to reduce learning data. In this paper, we use the self-organizing map to partition the observable states. Partitioning states reduces the number of learning data which is used for training neural networks. And neural dynamic programming design method is used for the controller. For evaluating the designed reinforcement learning controller, an inverted pendulum on the cart system is simulated. The designed controller is composed of serial connection of self-organizing map and two Multi-layer Feed-Forward Neural Networks.

  • In the information-oriented society, the paradigm of education has changed from the existing traditional teaching-centered education to the learning-centered education. In the Web-based Learning System which an learning-centered educational environment using the internet, students should have responsibility of their learning as taking more opportunities to participate their learning positively, to control their process of learning and to evaluate their learning by themselves to improve self-directed loaming ability. In this paper, the Web-based Learning System with a Self-Study Plan to lead students to select own purposes and methods of the study and write a self_evaluation is developed. The Self-Study Plan is a guide to lead the process, an order to have an individualized study and a report to evaluate own study. In addition, the suggested System is designed through object-oriented method using the extension mechanism of UML to archive the improvement of reuse and maintenance.
