A Study of Yejeol (Women's Education Activity) (여성의 예절교육 활동에 관한 소고)

  • Women's education activity(yejeol)has seen changes and improvements, as Korean society has evolved overtime. Women have been actively addressing contemporary demands by contributing to the establishment of today's women-centered education environment. As a result of this study, the characteristics of yejeol can be summarized as follows: First, yejeol was mainly driven by women wanting to participate in social and volunteer activities, asameans of self-improvement. Second, as field of service, yejeol has become more lucrative ; increasing numbers of young women are participating in the yejeol service industry. Third, yejeol is taking place nationwide. Women are constantly making efforts to acquire expertise by participating in yejeol instructor training programs and obtaining licenses. Fourth, the writing of yejeol books by women scholars has improved the yejeol environment. Further improvements to yejeol in Korea can only be achieved through an in-depth and critical study of its origins, current state, and future direction(s).

Mediating Effect of Satisfaction with Clinical Practice on the Relation between Satisfaction with Major and Career Preparation Behavior of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 전공만족도와 진로준비 행동과의 관계에서 임상실습만족도의 매개효과)

  • Objectives : This study identified the mediating effect of satisfaction with clinical practice on the relation between nursing students' satisfaction with major and career preparation behavior. Methods : Study participants were 454 nursing students with a clinical practice experiences who were enrolled as members of two university in Korea. Data were collected with self-report questionnaire and analyzed with SPSS 19.0 program. Results : Satisfaction with major was positively correlated with career preparation behavior, and satisfaction with clinical practice was also positively associated with career preparation. A mediating effect of satisfaction with clinical practice was found in the relation between satisfaction with major and career preparation behavior. Conclusions : Universities and departments should provide much effort and support for the development of clinical practice experience curriculum and hands-on training that are appropriate for the students' level and interests so that their outcomes can be connected to the career preparation behavior.

The Role of Job Satisfaction in the Relationship between Job Stress and Organizational Commitment among Nurses in Small-sized General Hospitals (소형종합병원 간호사의 직무스트레스와 조직몰입의 관계에서 직무만족의 역할)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of job stress on organizational commitment among nurse working in small sized general hospitals and determine moderating effects of job satisfaction. Methods : A self-report questionnaire survey was completed by 292 nurses working at five small sized hospitals in P and K. Data were collected during March 2015 and analyzed with the SPSS 21.0 program. Results : Job satisfaction was a positive factor in organizational commitment. Job satisfaction had significant moderating effects on the relationship between job stress and organizational commitment of nurses working in small sized general hospitals. Conclusions : The results of this study indicate that various job stresses and job satisfaction have a significant effect on the organizational commitment of nurses working in small sized general hospitals. Therefore, to decrease the job stress and increase the job satisfaction of nurses working in small sized general hospitals, consideration must be given to improving the financial and psychological rewards as well as providing differentiated job training. To reduce the psychological burden of nurses, it is necessary to develop adaptation programs of nurses.

Research on the Subjective Symptoms of Musculoskeletal Disorders for Dental Hygienists in Daegu (대구지역 치과위생사의 근골격계 질환 자각증상 실태에 관한 조사연구)

  • To devise a plan to efficiently control and cope with musculoskeletal disorders, this study conducted a self-administered survey among dental hygienists working at dental clinics in Daegu. The data were collected from December 1, 2013 to February 28, 2014, and drew the following conclusions. For body posture for medical procedures, at lower levels in their careers, the hygienists' head and back were more bent; at higher levels in their careers, the their shoulders, body and hips were more bent; and at higher levels in their careers, their assistance posture in general was more bent. Hygienists with longer years of experience had more pain in the neck and the arms/elbows. Respondents engaged in medical treatment services were more likely to have pain in their arms/elbows, and those engaged in assisting in medical treatment and consulting and insurance services were more likely to have pain in their necks. It is necessary to recognize the seriousness of musculoskeletal disorders, provide specific education through supplementary training and relevant seminars, and avoid repetitive use of the same muscle or joint through environmental improvement of dental clinics, and personal efforts should be made to maintain good posture.

Nutrition Knowledge and Snack Serving Attitude of Kindergarten Teachers (유치원 교사들의 영양지식 및 간식 급식에 대한 태도 조사 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the nutrition knowledge of kindergarten teachers and their attitude toward kindergarten lunch and snack service programs. Self-administered questionnaires were completed by 293 kindergarten teachers from January to February 1995. The results were as follows : 77.8% of the kindergarten teachers were taking part in the school meal service program. Most teachers were interested in the special training in child nutrition management, however, only 34.0% of the respondents had taken the nutrition related courses. The average score of nutrition knowledge of kindergarten teachers was 15.9$\pm$2.9 out of possible 28 points. They had better knowledge on such subjects as nutritional physiology and food choices for children, but had lower scores on practical subjects as calorie and nutrient value of food, cooking and nutrition management for children. When they chose snack items for children, teachers highly considered the nutritional value of snacks. Milk, cornflakes & milk, steamed potato, boiled egg, orange, apple and gimbap were their favorite choices for children's snacks. Other factors to be considered included children's preference, convenience in food service, and price of snack.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate determinants of intent to use a wireless information technology(WIT) of University Hospital Nurses. The independent variables used in the study are usefulness, compatibility, social environment, perceived readiness, technical readiness, organizational readiness and socio-demographic characteristics. The dependent variable is the intent to use a wireless information technology(WIT). The sample used in this study consisted of 297 nurses selected from a university hospital located in Wonju, Gangwon-do, Korea Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The results of the study revealed that 5 independent variables of usefulness, compatibility, perceived readiness, technical readiness, and organizational readiness were found to have significant effects on the nurses' intent to use a WIT. As a conclusion, it is important to make organizational, clinical, and technical environment WIT-friendly prior to applying WIT to hospital nurses. In addition, it is also important to provide an education and training for nurses to improve their skill of using WIT and to make the new WIT compatible with the existing nursing information system.

  • The objective of this study is to disclose the effect of socio-demographic characteristics such as, age and ethnicity which is comprised of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Others on four financial capability domains namely planning ahead, managing money, choosing products and staying informed. A closed ended self-administered questionnaire was disseminated to a total of 2000 respondents among four types of groups which consist of FELDA or rural area residents, private sector employees, government sector employees and youth in institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. Those four groups were selected to cover a wide range of Malaysian population. 500 respondents were involved in this study for each types of groups through purposive sampling technique. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and analysis via Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was utilized in this study. The results revealed that age has significant effect on planning ahead, managing money, choosing products and staying informed. Whereas, ethnicities were found to have no effect on financial capability except planning ahead domain. It is suggested that more devotion should be placed on research and professional training in building respondents' financial capability. Furthermore, government and non-government organizations should develop a comprehensive approach to intensify their financial capability and upgrade their standards of living especially of financially vulnerable households.

A Survey of Washing and Sanitizing Methods for the Pre-preparation of Fruits at a School Foodservice in the Seoul and Kyunggi Area (서울.경기지역 학교급식에서 과일류의 전처리시 세척 및 소독 방법에 대한 조사)

  • The principal objective of this study was to evaluate the sanitary management status of chlorine sterilization methods used for raw fruits in a school foodservice, and to suggest basic data for sanitary improvements in the quality of raw fruits. A questionnaire form predicated on HACCP standards was developed and utilized for self-reported evaluations of dietitians regarding their sanitary management practices. The subjects consisted of 257 dietitians that were employed in school (elementary middle high school) foodservices. The collected data were analyzed with the SAS package. According to the results of this study, it was deemed necessary that optimized sterilization and washing methods for good microbiological safety and quality of strawberries and bananas in school foodservice should be determined. Some strategies for future improvement were also suggested. They included the following: (1) Improvement of policy for assuring the quality of raw fruits by designing some sanitation standards and specifications for raw fruits; (2) Strengthening the research and accumulation of background data regarding methods for the sanitation of raw fruits; (3) Enforced improvement of personal hygiene for dietitians and employees; (4) Use of a variety of methods in sanitary education and employee training.

  • Purpose: This study seeks to address the following research questions: (1) What are the fundamental principles of sports psychology that can be applied to business leadership? (2) How can these principles enhance business leadership effectiveness? As a result, the study may evaluate the necessity and benefits of incorporating sports psychology principles into business leadership practices. Research design, data and methodology: The data collection process in this study involved a systematic Literature review approach, following the prior literature analysis guidelines by numerous past studies. This methodical approach to selecting articles can be useful in synthesizing existing literature and can be referred to as Literature review and selection. Results: The literature analysis has indicated that there is much support for assumptions underpinning business leadership modules, which can be enhanced by applying sports psychology. This topic discusses the traits of self-positivity and mental toughness, goal perspective and interpersonal relationships within a team, and visualization in a sporting organization that can be implemented in business management to support organizational performance. Conclusions: All in all, it can be concluded that organizations must consider adopting Sports Psychology principles into their Leadership Development Programs. A Comparative Study of Job Importance, Performance Level, and Job Satisfaction of School and Office Foodservice Dietitians (학교급식소와 사업체급식소 영양사 직무의 중요도와 수행도 및 직무만족도 비교연구)

  • This study was conducted to analyze job importance, performance level, and job satisfaction of school and office foodservice dietitians. Self-administered questionnaires were collected from 181 dietitians in the Chungnam area. Statistical data analysis was completed using SPSS v. 14.0. School dietitians were 55% and office dietitians were 45%. Of both, age of 20s and 30s scored 85%; the age of 30s of schools dietians scored 70% while those in office dietians 20s scored 79%. More than 84% of school and office dietitians were university graduates. Total average of job importance of school dietitians was 4.24 and job performance was 3.97 while that of office dietitians was 4.15 and job performances was 3.69. A duty that had a big difference in job importance and performances as a dietitian was 'education of nutrition' (p<.001) and 'self-improvement' (p<.001). According to the meal service except, importance and performances of duties showed a significantly high level (p<.001) for office dietitians, but most measures of job importance and performances showed a high level at school. Therefore, in order to improve job performances and satisfaction for school dietitians, it is necessary to develop systematic and professional education programs for qualification improvement and to grow pride and improve treatment as a nutrition teacher through expansion of appointment. Meanwhile, for office dietitians, it is required to strengthen duty education of 'human resource management' and 'meal service management' through education and supplementary training in companies, on which personal characteristics are reflected.
