  • In this paper, we designed the programmable 2nd order switched capacitor filter that the center frequency can be varied linearly with the clock frequency, and that the peak gaion and the selectivity can be controlled with digital signal by the capacitor array. In addition, speech synthesizer system was constructed with this filter, korean consonants being synthesized. Therefore, this filter shows the possibility that most Korean language sounds can be synthesized in the real time mode.

  • This paper presents a capacitor loaded tunable bandpass chip filter using multiple split ring resonators (MSRRs) with two transmission zeros. To obtain high selectivity and minimize the chip size, asymmetric feed lines are adopted to make a pair of transmission zeros located on each side of passband. Compared with conventional filters using cross-coupling or source-load coupling techniques, the proposed filter uses only two resonators to achieve high selectivity through a pair of transmission zeros. In order to optimize selectivity and sensitivity (insertion loss) of the filter, the effect of the position of asymmetric feed line on transmission zeros and insertion loss is analyzed. The SOI-CMOS switched capacitor composed of metal-insulator-metal (MIM) capacitor and stacked-FETs is loaded at outer rings of MSRRs to tune passband frequency and handle high power signal up to +30 dBm. By turning on or off the gate of the transistors, the passband frequency can be shifted from 4GH to 5GHz. The proposed on-chip filter is implemented in 0.18-${\mu}m$ SOI CMOS technology that makes it possible to integrate high-Q passive devices and stacked-FETs. The designed filter shows miniaturized size of only $4mm{\times}2mm$ (i.e., $0.177{\lambda}g{\times}0.088{\lambda}g$), where ${\lambda}g$ denotes the guided wave length of the $50{\Omega}$ microstrip line at center frequency. The measured insertion loss (S21)is about 5.1dB and 6.9dB at 5.4GHz and 4.5GHz, respectively. The designed filter shows out-of-band rejection greater than 20dB at 500MHz offset from center frequency.

  • In this paper, the design of a channel filter and its group-delay-and-amplitude equalizer is carried out for the Ka-band satellite transponder subsystem. The 8th order dual-mode filter is employed for high selectivity around the band-edges with an elliptic-integral function response and has an in-line configuration. The 2-pole, reflection-type, group-delay equalizer is designed and manufactured to reduce the group-delay and amplitude variation, which can be large for such a high order filter. It is noted that in both the filter and equalizer, adopting the dual-mode coupling mechanism leads to less mass and volume. Through measurement, the performance of the realized group-delay-equalized filter is shown to meet the equipment requirements and to be appropriate for the satellite input multiplexer.

  • This paper presents the design of a narrow-band channel filter and its group-delay equalizer for a Ka-band satellite transponder. We used an 8th order channel filter for high selectivity with an elliptic-integral function response and an inline configuration. We designed a 2-pole, reflection-type, group-delay equalizer to compensate for the steep variation of the group-delay at the output of the channel filter, keeping the thermal stability at ${\pm}7$ ns of group-delay variation at the band edges over 15-55$^{\circ}C$. We devised a new tuning technique using short-ended dummy cavities and used it for tuning both the filter and equalizer; this removes the necessity of additional tuning after the cavities are assembled. Through measurement, we demonstrate that the group-delay-equalized filter meets the equipment requirements and is appropriate for satellite input multiplexers.

  • It is useful to simulate the human visual function for the purpose of image-processing. In this study, the hardware of the spatial filter with the sensitivity of lateral inhibition is realized by the combination of optical parts with electronic circuits. The diffused film with the characteristics of Gaussian type is prepared as a spatial filter. An object's image is convoluted with the spatial filter. From the difference of the convoluted images, the zero-cross position is detected at video rate. The edge of object is extracted in real-time by the use of this equipment. The resolution of edge changes with the value of the standard deviation of diffused film. In addition, it is possible to extract a directional edge selectively when the spatial filter with directional selectivity is used instead of Gaussian type of spatial filter.

  • KIST301135 was semi-synthetically prepared by the reaction of Staurosporine with triphosgene in anhydrous dichloromethane. The structure of KIST301135 was confirmed by $^1H$ NMR, $^{13}C$ NMR, and high resolution mass spectrum. KIST301135 was initially tested in a single dose duplicate mode at a concentration of 20 nM over a panel of 53 kinases against Staurosporine as a positive control. KIST301135 has showed inhibitions above 75% in only 2 kinases (FLT3 and JAK3 kinases) of the 53 tested kinases, while Staurosporine has showed inhibitions above 80% in about 62% of the tested kinases. KIST301135 was retested at a 5-dose testing mode over the 9 kinases inhibited by percentages over 20 at the single dose testing in order to determine its $IC_{50}$ values. KIST301135 has shown much improved kinase inhibitory selectivity relative to Staurosporine in its potency at JAK3 kinase and CAMK2b kinase.

  • Recently, it was reported that gaussian distribution and difference of two gaussians (DOG) to have band pass characteristics can be generated by simple iterative processes of the diffusion networks. In this paper, we propose method of improved implementation of a diffusion filter which can reduce total runing time, and operate by simple algorithm in contrast to the latest diffusion filter. We rebuild the diffusion network to a difference network which can generate DOG independently. Different filter characteristics are obtained just by each diffusion process and difference process. Quantitative analysis shows that the center frequency and the selectivity of each filter channel can be varied independently. Also, it would requires smaller amount of hardwares than conventioanl method to build a filter bank.

  • This paper presents a baseband complex bandpass filter for PHS applications with a new automatic tuning method. The full-CMOS PHS transceiver is implemented by adopting the Low-IF architecture to overcome the DCoffset problems. To meet the Adjacent Channel Selectivity (ACS) performance, the 3rd-order Chebyshev complex bandpass filter is designed as the baseband channel-select filter. The new corner frequency tuning method is proposed to compensate the process variation. This method can reduce the noise level due to MOS switches. The filter was fabricated using a 0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process, and the power consumption is 12mW.

  • In this paper, a narrow-band waveguide channel fitter has been designed and realized for Ku band satellite transponder. Group-delay and amplitude variations of the channel filter have been minimized using a 2-pole reflection type equalizer. The channel filter has been designed to have the 8-pole elliptic response for high frequency selectivity. Dual-mode technique has been adopted for reducing mass and volume of the channel filter and equalizer. The channel filter and equalizer have shown good performance for satellite transponder.
