The objectives of this experiment was to evaluate the effect of seeding and transplanting date on yield and quality of rapeseed experiment were conducted in the research field of Chungcheongnam Do(Taejun) Agricultural Research and Extension Services with Yudal, one of the rapeseed cultivar of different growth characteristics among the six treatments were examined and recorded. Results showed that yield components such as plant height, length of ear and pod, number of branches and pods and percentage of pod setting and seed set were highest at the plot with direct seeding in Sep. 10. In this treatment yield of seed, 1,000 grains weight and weight of $1{\ell}$ were highest. On the basis of vegetative and yield parameter of direct seeding in Sep. 10 was the best sowing date of rapeseed crop in Chungcheongnam Do region of Korea. Experiments were conducted in the research field of Chungcheongnam Do(Taejun) Agricultural Research and Extension Services with Yudal variety, which showed different growth characteristics. Yield components such as plant height, length of ear and pod, number of branches and pods and percentage of pod setting and seed set were highest at the plot with direct seeding in Sep. 10. Yield of seed, 1,000 grains weight and weight of $1{\ell}$ were highest at the direct seeding in Sep. 10. Judging from the results reported above, seemed to be direct seeding in Sep. 10.
The studies reported herein are on the varietal differences of rice in the effects of seeding times and nursery periods on the components such as, culm length, ear length, number of ears, ear weight, straw weight, and grain/straw ratio following the first series of studies on heading date. In the present investigations, 50 rice varieties, as the preceding studies, were seeded nine times at the interval of 15 days from March 15 to July 28 in 1963. Each variety seeded at respective time was transplanted in 40 days in nursery after seeded. Reviewing the result obtained from the first series of the studies on heading date, the number of days required to heading from seeding were decreased by delaying the seeding time. Most varieties tended to decrease in the number of days from seeding to heading by the 8th planting time. Some of varieties seemed to be decreased in the number of days from seeding to heading by 9th seeding time. However most varieties were failed to show heading delaying the seeding date at the 10th seeding. The results on the effects of altering the seeding time on the components and varietal differences of the response are summarized as follows; 1) Culm length; It appeared that culm length was shortened when the number of days from seeding to heading was decreased by delaying the seeding date. The varieties which needed many days to heading were also shortened in their culm length. 2) Ear length; Ear length was also shortened when the number of days needed tocheading was decreased, by delaying the seeding time. The varieties which needed many days for heading were also shortened in their ear length, while those which headed earlier seemed to be lengthened in their ear lengths. 3) Number of ears; It was shown that the number of ears was increased with the delay of the heading date, whereas, at the 9th seeding the number of ears was decreased when delayed the heading date. 4) Ear weight; Ear weight per hill was also likely to be heavy throughout the seeding times and varieties except the 7th and 8th seedings in which it appeared to be light on the contrary. 5) Straw weight; Straw weight became heavier as delayed the seeding date throughout all the varieties and seeding dates. 6) The grain/straw ratio; The grain/straw ratio was gradually increased by the 5th seeding time, reaching the pick at 5th. An examination of the varieties at each seeding date showed that the grain/straw ratio was low from 1st to 3rd seeding and from 7th to 9th seeding, when the number of days required to heading from seeding are increased. At the 4th seeding time-which is standard seeding time-5th, and 6th seeding times the ratio was high with the delay of heading.
In order to develop an appropriate cultural practice for a newly bred 2-rowed, waxy, naked barley cultivar 'Duwonchapssalbori' in the southern region, 2 varieties, 3 seeding dates, 4 seeding rates were designed with 2 replications. The heading and maturity dates of 'Duwonchapssalbori' were' earlier than 'Saessalbori by 2-5 and 4 days, respectively. Culm length of 'Duwonchapssalbori' was 60 to 66cm with lodging resistance. Grain yields of both varieties were 4.28-4.33 ton/ha in the plot of Oct. 20 seeding, 4.11-4.18 ton in the plot of Oct. 28 seeding, and 3.7-13.89 ton/ha in the Nov. 5 seeding. Grain yield with different seeding rates highly significantly fitted with secondary polynomial equations in the plots of Oct. 20 and Oct. 28 seedings ($R^2$=0.84-0.85), showing the greatest yield with seeding rate of 140kg per ha. However, the grain yield with various seeding rates in the plot of Nov. 5 seeding showed simple linear regression ($R^2$=0.71), showing the seeding rate over 160kg in the case of later seeding to be optimal. Number of spikes per $m^2$ significantly contributed to grain yield, and fitted to simple linear regression ($R^2$=0.881-0.891), suggesting that plenty of early stands should be established at early seedling stage for high grain yield. Young spikes of 'Duwonchapssalbori' in the plot of Oct. 20 seeding elongated with linear increments since Feb. 10 (6.7mm), and showed rapid increment since March 7 (15.1mm). However, elongation of young spikes of 'Saessalbori' began from March 15 with slow increments. From these studies, the optimum seeding date and seeding rate in 'Duwonchapssalbori' were Oct. 20-28 and 140kg per ha for high grain yield in the southern regions.

Understanding of the relationships between seeding rate and planting date is important for production of spring oats during the fall season. Therefore, this experiment was conducted to investigate seeding rate and planting date effects on forage performance and quality of spring oats(Avena sativa L.) at Suweon in 1997. The experiment was arranged in a split plot design with three replications. The main plots consisted of different seeding rates such as 150, 200, and 250kg/ha. The subplots consisted of different planting dates of spring oats such as 15, 22, and 29 August and 5 September. Dry matter content of oats was significantly decreased(P<0.01) as the planting date was delayed except the planting date of 5 September(24.8%). Dry matter content of forage oats planted on 15, 22, and 29 August was 23.0, 21.5, and 20.5%, respectively. A seeding $rate\;{\times}\;planting$ date interaction for dry matter content was highly significant(P<0.01). Crude protein content of oats was significantly increased(P<0.01) from 15.6 to 27.9% as the planting was delayed, while a significant seeding $rate\;{\times}\;planting$ date interaction for crude protein content of oats was observed. Acid detergent fiber(ADF) and neutral detergent fiber(NDF) contents of oats increased with early planting(P<0.01), but there was no significant difference among the seeding rates. ln vitro dry matter digestibility(IVDMD) of oats was significantly increased(P<0.01) as the seeding rate was increased together with late planting. Average dry matter yield of oats decreased(P<0.01) from 2,647 to 615kg/ha as the planting was delayed, but there was no significant difference among the seeding rates. A seeding $rate\;{\times}\;planting$ date interaction was observed for average dry matter yield of oats that the seeding rate increase in this experiment showed better at early planting dates. Crude protein yield of oats increased from 171 to 410kg/ha as the planting was delayed, and a significant increases(P<0.01) for crude protein yield was found among the seeding rates. ln vitro digestible dry matter(IVDDM) yield of oats decreased(P<0.01) as the planting was delayed, but there was no significant difference among the seeding rates. A significant seeding $rate\;{\times}\;planting$ date interaction for lVDDM of oats was found. The results of this study indicate that both the seeding rate of 200kg/ha and early planting before 29 August would be recommendable for forage yield and quality of oats in Korea.

This experiment was conducted to establish the cultural method of triticale(Triticum Secalotriticum Saratoviense Meister) as a whole crop silage by evaluating the effect of seeding date and nitrogen fertilization rate on forage yields and feeding value. Heading date, flowering date, and the dough stage of development came significantly earlier as triticale was seeded earlier. Soilage, dry matter yields and percent dry matter significantly varied with seeding dates and crude ash, NFE and TDN. However, TDN yield was significantly reduced by delayed seeding. Macromineral contents were not affected by seeding date. Soilage, dry matter yield, and percent dry matter significantly increased as nitrogen fertilization rate increased. The contents of crude protein, crude fat, crude ash, NFE, TDN and TDN yield also significantly increased. In contrast, crude fiber content of triticale decreased with increasing N fertilization rate.
This study has been conducted from April 25, 1999 to June 25, 1999 in Jeju Province in order to determine the influence of seeding date on growth, yield and chemical composition of Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) Delaying the seeding date from April 25 to June 25 decreased the plant height of Kenaf from 278.5 cm to 205.7 cm. As for the number of leaves, number of withering leaves, number of branches, and stem diameter decreased as the seeding date was delayed. As the seeding date was delayed, fresh forage yield decreased from 98.5MT/㏊ to 45.9MT/㏊, dry matter yield from 20.7MT/㏊ to 8.2MT/㏊, crude protein (CP) yield from 2.9MT/ha to 1.3MT/ha and total digestible nutrients (TDN) yield form 1l.6MT/㏊ to 5MT/㏊. However, both leaf yield and stem yield were nearly the same tendency. Delaying the seeding date from April 25 to June 25 increased crude protein contents of leaves from 21.5% to 24.4%, crude fat contents from 5.2% to 6.1%, nitrogen free extract (NFE) contents form 39.9% to 41.2% and TDN contents from 64.3% to 69.7%. However, delaying seeding date decreased crude fiber contents from 20.8% to 17.5%, and crude ash contents from 7.9% to 7.0%. Based on the these findings, optimum seeding date for forage production of Kenaf seems to be about 25 April in atmospheric phenomena and volcanic ash soils of Jeju island.
Perill(Perilla frutescens var. japonica $H_{ARA}$), “Ipdlkkae 1” was tested for the yield components in accordance with several different application levels, seeding methods and seeding dates. The results were summarized as follows: Application of fertilizer remarkably increased leaf number and leaf weight. Specially nitrogen showed the most significant effect. The best combination of NㆍPㆍK for cultivation of perilla was investigated ill three leveles of 6kg /10a, 9kg/10a, and 10kg/10a. The planting density in $10cm\times10cm/m^2$, and the seeding date on December 23 were found as the best results. However, $10cm\times7cm/m^2$ planting was better to get heavy leaf.Perill(Perilla frutescens var. japonica $H_{ARA}$), “Ipdlkkae 1” was tested for the yield components in accordance with several different application levels, seeding methods and seeding dates. The objective of this study was to evaluate the dry matter yield of (DMY) of Italian ryegrass (IRG) forage crop based on two seeding date (September 25 and October 2) in 2017 and 2018, and evaluation of the potential reason of DMY reduction in IRG cultivars grown at Chuncheon, South Korea. Three cultivars of IRG including Kowinearly, Kowinmaster and Hwasan 104 were used in this experiment. The experimental field was designed as a split-split-plot arrangement. The cultivars were harvested on April 26 before the heading stage of both years. In this study, no significant effect (p>0.05) of seeding date has been found on the DMY, whereas the cultivars and year showed a significant effect on the DMY (p<0.05). Except September 25 of 2017, Hwasan 104 indicated significantly lower (p<0.05) DMY than Kowinearly and Kowinmaster in all seeding periods. Though no significant difference (p>0.05) was observed for the DMY between the two seeding dates in 2018, but the DMY was significantly lower (p<0.05) than that of 2017. Lower crude protein (CP) content of Kowinearly was observed on the seeding date of October 2 of 2017, and also in both seeding dates on 2018 (p<0.05). No significant difference (p>0.05) was observed in acid detergent fiber (ADF) between the cultivars on both seeding dates and years. Similarly, no significant difference (p>0.05) was found in neutral detergent fiber (NDF) between the cultivars in 2017. However, Kowinearly showed higher NDF content as compared to Kowinmaster and Hwasan 104 on both seeding dates and years. The seeding date has no significant difference (p>0.05). Thus, considering the extent of DMY in both years, the mean minimum temperature during winter season could be the limiting factor for the DMY of IRG cultivars. However, based on this study, the seeding dates of September 25 and October 2 have no potential effect on the DMY. Thus, on the basis of the current DMY and forge quality parameters, the cultivation Kowinmaster is recommended in Chuncheon.
In order to find out the optimum seeding date of Job's tears, this study was investigated ecological characters, yield components and yield of Jang Seong native variety at 6 seeding dates (March 20, March 30, April 10, April 20, April 30 and May 10). Emergence period and heading period were shortened as the seeding date was late, and the number of leaves on the main stem was increased as the seeding date was early. Maturing period was 63-66 days when we seeded in March 20, March 30, April 10 and April 20, and it was delayed 68-77 days when we seeded on April 3$^{\circ}$ and May 10. Culm length was longest in April 10 seeding (it was 186.6 cm), and it grew short in the early and the late seeding, but there was no significant difference among seeding dates. Stem diameter was thickest in April 10, and April 20 seeding, that is, thickened to 10.1 mm, and it was thin in the early and the late seeding. Productive tiller number per hill was increased most in April 10 and April 20 seeding, that is, increased to 6.2, and it was decreased in the early and the late seeding. 100 grain weight was heaviest in April 10 seeding; it was 10.7 g, and it was light in the early and the late seeding. Ripeness rate was highest in April 10 seeding (87.4%), and it was lowest in May 10 seeding (76.3%). Grain yield was highest in April 10 seeding (602.8kg per l0a); therefore this period is regarded as optimum seeding date. C. protein, C. fat, C. fiber and C. starch showed significant difference among seeding dates, and C. protein showed possitive correlation (r =0.9811 **) and C. fiber Negative collelation (r =-0.8937*) with seeding dates.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of seeding dates and rates on the productivity and nutritive value of hairy vetch(Vicia villosa Roth) at experimental field of Grassland and Forage Crops Division, National Livestock Research Institute, RDA, Suwon from 1999 to 2000. The experimental design was consisted of split-plot design with three replications. The main plot was seeding dates(25 Aug., 15 Sep. and 5 Oct.) and the subplot was seeding rates(20, 30 and 40 kg/ha). Late seeding dates increased the plant height and delayed the flowering stage as 1 or 2 days. The dry matter(DM) content was decreased with low seeding rates, and the trend was same in the all plots. Average crude protein(CP) content was $24.1\%$ and increased with delayed seeding date and lower seeding rate. The content of acid detergent fiber(ADF) and neutral detergent fiber(NDF) was increased with higher seeding rate, but seeding date did not affect. In vitro dry matter digestibility(IVDMD) of hairy vetch tended to decrease with high seeding rate, and total digestible nutrient(TND) did not show significant difference among seeding rates. Average relative feed value(RFV) of hairy vetch showed 140 which means very high quality. Dry matter and CP yield was decreased with delayed seeding date. The results of this experiments indicated that seeding in middle-August with 40 kg/ha would be recommended to produce the highest yield and quality f3r the cultivation of hairy vetch in middle part of Korea
