소하천형 호수의 수질개선을 위한 퇴적저니 처리방안 연구 (Treatment of Contaminated Sediment for Water Quality Improvement of Small-scale Reservoir)

  • 본 연구는 소하천형 호수의 수질개선 및 친환경적 생태공원조성을 위한 퇴적저니 처리방안을 수립하기 위하여 기존에 실시된 기본계획의 타당성 및 퇴적저니의 오염도 등을 검토하고 이를 토대로 최적의 퇴적저니 처리.처분계획을 수립하는데 목적이 있다. 퇴적저니의 정확한 오염도 분석을 위하여 총 9개 지점에 대해 저니층별로 23개소에 대한 퇴적저니를 채취하여 오염도를 분석한 결과 Cu의 경우 4개 시료가 지정폐기물 기준(3mg/L)을 초과하였다. 거의 전 지점의 시료가 농경지에 대한 Cu의 토양오염우려기준(50 mg/kg)을 초과한 것으로 조사되었다 그외 Pb및 Hg은 모두 기준이하로 분석되었다. 퇴적저니의 적정 처리방안을 수립하기 위하여 유기물 및 영양염류 오염도에 따른 퇴적저니의 준설필요성 여부를 국내 팔당호 및 한강하류 적용기준과 일본 동경만 및 요코하마만 적용기준에 의거 검토하고, 또한 중금속 오염도에 따른 퇴적저니의 처리여부를 일본, 미국 및 캐나다 기준을 적용하여 검토한 결과, 유기물 및 영양염류에 대한 오염도는 심각한 수준은 아니었으며, 유해물질에 의한 오염도는 일본기준에는 대부분 만족하나 저서생물에 미치는 악영향을 기준으로 설정된 미국 및 캐나다 기준에 대해서는 모두 중간오염 또는 심한오염에 해당하는 것으로 판정되었다. 그래서 퇴적저니 처리방안을 검토하기 위하여 선진국에서 많이 사용되고 있는 퇴적저니 정화방안중 중금속 안정화에 효과적인 고형화/안정화 방안을 검토한 결과 저니내의 Cu의 용출농도를 줄일 수 있었다. 또한 혼합된 시멘트 고화체는 높은 압축강도를 나타내어 건설용 토사나 제방성토용으로 사용 가능할 것으로 생각되었다. 나타내는 결과이다. 특별히 토양내 흡착력이 약하고 지하수내에 쉽게 용해될 수 있으며 독성 및 발암성물질로 알려진 사염화탄소와 같은 염소계 유기화합물의 제거에 효과적으로 적용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.3}$C(PDB)값은 -6.2~0.0$\textperthousand$범위이며, 그 기원은 대수층인 지층내 탄산염암 또는 탄산염 광물의 용해에서 유래한 무기기원 탄소로 해석된다.다.으로 변화하였으며 치료 전에 반응하지 않던 항원에 새롭게 반응하는 항체가 나타나는 경우는 드물었다.ms of chlorophyll-a concentration estimation, however, the accuracy stays very similar compared to that of the CZCS-type algorithm. A Benthic Polychaete Assemblage off the Korean South Coast(Gwangyang Bay and Yeosu Sound)

  • We investigated the benthic polychaete assemblage in Gwangyang Bay and Yeosu Sound in February 1997. The sediment was an almost entirely muddy facies. The benthic macrofauna comprised 295 species occurring at a mean density of 875 $indiv./m^2$. Polychaetes were the major faunal component; there were 94 species at mean density 765 $indiv./m^2$. The highest abundance and species richness occurred in the Myodo south and north channels, in the mouth of Gwangyang Bay, and in the Noryang channel mouth. The most abundant polychaete was Tharyx sp. (47.9%), followed in rank order by Heteromastus filiformis (9.6%), Melinna cristata (9.3%), and Lumbrineris longifolia (7.3%). Cluster analysis divided the study area into four station groups based on station similarities in benthic polychaete assemblages: the Glycinde-Prionospio cluster in the western inner bay, the H. filiformis cluster in the middle inner bay, the Melinna-Lumbrineris cluster in the Myodo south-north channel, and the Tharyx cluster in the eastern main channel region. The sediment type of Gwangyang Bay has changed gradually from sandy to muddy. Dominant species have also changed from Chone teres and Lagis bocki to Tharyx sp., which is a potential organic pollution indicator.

충주댐 유역의 오염원에 따른 오염부하량 발생 특성 (Characteristics of Pollutant Loads according to Types of Sources for the Chungju Dam Watershed)

  • Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model was selected as a tool for assessing the effect of pollutant sources on the total loads from the Chungju Dam upstream watershed. The model was constructed through calibration of parameters related to nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), which was based on the runoff and sediment modeling performed in the previous research. Using this, the spatial and temporal pollutant loadings by source type were investigated. Results of this study indicated that in most forested upstream sub-watersheds, pollutant loadings from point sources were very low, and total loadings by point and non-point sources were also insignificant. On the other hand, in #14 sub-watershed including Jecheon city, the loadings by point source were relatively considerable. For the whole watershed, non-point sources accounted for 99% of sediment, 97% of N, and 93% of P loads. And monthly non-point source loadings were concentrated on rainy summer season, while point source loadings of N and P kept nearly constant throughout the year and were high on dry winter season relative to non-point source.

Thalassobius aestuarii sp. nov., Isolated from Tidal Flat Sediment

  • A strictly aerobic, non-motile, ovoid-shaped Alphaproteobacteria, designated strain $JC2049^T$ was isolated from a tidal flat sediment sample. The results of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that this isolate belonged to the genus Thalassobius, with a sequence similarity of 96.9-97.3% to other valid Thalassobius spp. The cells required 1-7% NaCl for growth (optimum 2%) and accumulated $poly-\beta-hydroxybutyrate$. Nitrite was reduced to nitrogen, but nitrate was not reduced to nitrite. No genetic potential for aerobic anoxygenic photosynthesis was detected. The primary isoprenoid quinone (Ubiquinone-10), predominant cellular fatty acids $(C_{18:1}{\omega}7c,\;11\;methyl\;C_{18:1}\omega7c\;and\;C_{16:0})$ and DNA G+C content (61 mol %) were all consistent with the assignment of this isolate to the genus Thalassobius. Several phenotypic characteristics clearly distinguished our isolate from other Thalassobius species. The degree of genomic relatedness between strain $JC2049^T$ and other Thalassobius species was in a range of 20-43 %. The polyphasic data presented in this study indicates that our isolate should be classified as a novel species within the genus Thalassobius. The name Thalassobius aestuarii sp. novo is therefore proposed for this isolate; the type strain is $JC2049^T(=IMSNU\;14011^T=KCTC\;12049^T=DSM\;15283^T)$.

GEOWEPP 모형을 이용한 고랭지 경사지밭 소유역의 토양유실 저감방안 (Soil Erosion Reduction Plan for Watershed with Sloping Fields of Highland Agriculture by Using GEOWEPP Model)

  • This study was performed to suggest a soil loss reduction skill through estimating soil erosion from a small watershed including each type of sloping agriland by using GEOWEPP model. Experimental watershed at Gangwon province was selected for very typical sloping fields of highland agriculture in Alpine area. Runoff discharge and sediment load, hourly rainfall amount occurred during storm event were gauged, and weather data were obtained from Daegwallyeong meteorological station. The results of GEOWEPP model estimation showed that relative error values for total runoff discharge and sediment load were 3 %, -14.5 % respectively. Based on the result, soil erosion and waterway path map for each hillslope were made to select target hillslope. Several hillslopes of severe soil erosion were analyezed and then the optimal vegetative filter strip construction width and waterway path to plant grass were decided by using GEOWEPP Model.

Development of Enrichment Semi-nested PCR for Clostridium botulinum types A, B, E, and F and Its Application to Korean Environmental Samples

  • An enrichment semi-nested PCR procedure was developed for detection of Clostridium botulinum types A, B, E, and F. It was applied to sediment samples to examine the prevalence of C. botulinum in the Korean environment. The first pair of primers for the semi-nested PCR was designed using a region shared by the types A, B, E, and F neurotoxin gene sequences, and the second round employed four nested primers complementary to the BoNT/A, /B, /E, and /F encoding genes for simultaneous detection of the four serotypes. Positive results were obtained from the PCR analysis of five of 44 sediments (11%) collected from Yeong-am Lake in Korea; all were identified as deriving from type B neurotoxin (bontb) genes. Two of the C. botulinum type B organisms were isolated, and their bontb genes sequenced. The deduced amino acid sequences of BoNT/B showed 99.5 and 99.8% identity with the amino acid sequence of accession no. AB084152. Our data suggest that semi-nested PCR is a useful tool for detecting C. botulinum in sediments, and renders it practicable to conduct environmental surveys.

통발 어구를 이용한 서해 경기만 사각형어초 시설의 효과 평가 (Evaluation of the effect of cubic artificial reefs in Kyonggi Bay, west coast of Korea by using fish trap)

  • In the autumn of 2000 and spring of 2001, field surveys were conducted to estimate the effectiveness of artificial reefs (type cube, $2{\times}2{\times}2m^3$) that were established in the four islands of Bangnyeong, Socheong, Daeyeonpyeong and Ganghwa in Kyonggi Bay, the west coast of Korea during 1995 and 1996. The condition of reefs was examined through SCUBA diving and a side-scan sonar. Much of the reefs in Daeyeonpyeong and Ganghwa area were buried in bottom sediment. Despite an intensive search in Bangnyeong area, even a cluster of reefs was not found and most of them seemed to be buried by sand waves. Thus an appropriate investigation on the sediment transport should be included in pre-assessment for the expected performance and protection of artificial reefs. Distribution of average CPUE in natural fishing ground (control) was estimated by bootstrapping simulation and possible comparison of CPUE between control and reef areas (treatment) were made in Bangnyeong and Socheong (Experiment I). Positive reef effect was detected in Socheong but CPUE of treatment in Bangnyeong was varied between or lower than the 99% CPUE confidence intervals of the control. Control/treatment abundance and biomass of fishes and invertebrates were tested by paired t-test and sign test (Experiment II). Only four cases among 22 showed significant positive effect. Based on the results, the cube artificial reef in Socheong was inferred as an affirmative one. Floor type was hypothesized to be one of the probable agents in determining the effectiveness of artificial reefs.

  • 포항분지 해상 중규모 실증 모니터링 연구팀은 영일만의 해상 $CO_2$ 주입 실증 사이트에서 주입되는 $CO_2$를 모니터링하기 위하여 지구물리-지화학 복합 모니터링 연구를 수행하고 있다. 이 연구에서는 주입 전 모니터링 탐사의 1차 결과로서, 지구물리 탐사에서는 한국형 Hydro-Geophone OBS (Ocean Bottom Sensor) 탐사장비 개발 현황과 3D 탄성파 탐사의 결과를, 천부 지화학 탐사에서는 주입사이트의 주입 전지화학 베이스라인 탐사(퇴적물 공극수의 음이온)에 대한 예비결과를 제시하였다.

  • The precious-meta] mineralization of epithermal type in the Korean Peninsula, which is spread over a broader range of ca. 110 to 60 Ma with a major population between 90 and 70 Ma, mainly occurred along the NE-trending major strike-slip fault systems (i.e., the Gongju and Gwangju ones) that commonly include volcano-tectonic depressions and calderas. The occurrence of epithermal mineralization during Late Cretaceous clearly indicates that the geologic setting of the Korean Peninsula changed to the favorable depth of ore formation with very shallow-crustal environments (〈1.0 kb) accompanied with gold-silver (-base-meta]) mineralization. Epithermal gold-silver deposits in Korea are primarily distinguished as sediment-dominant and volcanic-dominant basins by using criteria of varying alteration, ore and gangue mineralogy deposited by the interaction of different ore-forming fluids with host rocks and meteoric waters. These differences between the central and southern portions are causally linked to the tectonic evolution of the Peninsula during the Cretaceous time. In the Early Cretaceous, the sinistral strike-slip movements due to the oblique subduction of the Izanagi Plate resulted in the Gongju and Gwangju fault systems in the central portion of the Korean Peninsula, which was accompanied with a number of sediment-dominant basins formed along these faults. During the Late Cretaceous, the mode of convergence of the Izanagi Plate changed to northwesteward so that orthogonal convergence occurred with a calc-alkaline volcanism. As results, volcanic-dominant basins were developed in the southern portion of the Peninsula, accompanied with volcano-tectonic depressions and caldera-related fractures. The magmatism and related fractures during Late Cretaceous may play an important role in the formation of geothermal systems. Thus, such fault zones may be favorable environments for veining emplacement that is closely related to the precious-metal mineralization of epithermal type in the Korean Peninsula.

동해 파랑관측 자료를 활용한 포물선형 평형해안선 식의 타당성 조사 (Performance Test of Parabolic Type Equilibrium Shoreline Formula Using Wave Data Observed in East Sea)

  • The present study investigated the validity of an equilibrium shoreline empirical formula for real phenomena. Among three types of equilibrium shoreline formulas, Hsu's parabolic type static formula was employed, which is well-known and the most practical for shoreline estimation after coastal or harbor structure construction. The wave data observed at Maengbang beach and the CERC formula on longshore sediment transport were used in the present investigation. A comparison study was only conducted for the case of a shoreline change after the construction of a groyne. Reasonable agreement was seen between the observed wave data and the data obtained under a wave angle spreading function S = 3.5. However, significant changes were observed when S increased. Thus, careful application is required when using Hsu's formula.
