  • Any development plan of a Korean space-based navigational system has been neither designed nor introduced yet. However, the demand for the development of a domestic regional satellite navigation system can be originated from the outside of market. The growing dependency on satellite navigational systems in Korea eventually requires the retainment and the operation of a domestic navigational satellite system. There is not many choices on the orbit designs and the system design concepts of a regional augmented navigation satellite system or a regional navigation satellite system for the service on the vicinity of the Korean peninsular. Space situational awareness (SSA) has been a rising issue for both national security and more realistic space business in Korea. Also SSA related technologies in Korea is a newly inaugurated area and is necessary to generate a navigation messages and maintain a future Korean navigation satellite system. In this study, the availability of Japanese Quasi Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) expected to be deployed definitely sooner than Korean counter-part is analyzed. The availability of the similar configured system over Korea is investigated with assumed QZSS type orbit. Also, feasible configuration of orbits for domestic navigation satellite system is suggested. And the observability of a ground-based optical tracking system as a secondary tracking capability is analyzed.

  • Recently effective spectrum resource technologies have been studied using a game theorectical approach for cognitive radio networks. Radio resource management is required an effective scheme because the performance of a radio communication system much depends on it's effectiveness. In this paper, we suggest a game theoretical algorithm for adaptive power control which is required an effect scheme in cognitive radio networks. It will be a distributed network. In the network distributed cognitive radio secondary users require an adaptive power control. There are many results which are suggested some possibility of game theoretical approaches for communication resource sharing. However, we suggest a practical game algorithm to achieve Nash equilibrium of all secondary users using a Nash equilibrium theorem in this paper. Particularly, a game model was analyzed for adaptive power control of a cognitive radio network, which is involved in DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum) techniques. In case of K=63 and N=12 in the DSSS network, the number of iteration was less than maximum 200 using the suggested algorithm.

  • There is a scheme where secondary users (SU) use predicted spectrum holes for primary users (PU) not to utilize for efficient utilization of the limited spectrum resources in cognitive radio networks. In this paper, we propose an adaptive call admission control framework that minimizes spectrum hopping call dropped probability (SHDP) for satisfying SU quality of service (QoS). The scheme is based on a call admission control (CAC), bandwidth prediction and adaptive bandwidth assignment. The prediction model predicts not only the number of spectrum holes, but requested bandwidth of SU spectrum hopping call, and then the CAC minimizes SHDP via an adaptive bandwidth assignment in resources not being enough for reservation. We bring Wiener prediction model to predict the resources. Simulations are conducted to compare the performance of proposed scheme with an existing, and show its ability of minimizing the SHDP.

  • This paper is concerned with an interrogator capable of constructing a interrogation scenario for acquiring active airspace to the intruding aircraft into the surveillance area of the MLAT system. In the MLAT system, the interrogator is an important device used to carry out the interrogation towards the aircraft within the surveillance airspace in the appropriate surveillance scenario. Unlike a conventional SSR's interrogation methods that interrogate for airplanes flying within a certain range, the MLAT system requires a interrogation system that can actively interrogate from remote to near range, or according to operational scenarios, for aircraft intruding into the surveillance range. The interrogator implemented in this paper can be used for interrogating and monitoring aircraft within each surveillance airspace using whisper-shout algorithm according to varying output power based on the actual operation distance.

  • Multilateration systems are used to provide the position of aircraft in flight or on airport runways. In the multilateration systems, the interrogator is an important transmitter that used to interrogate the airplanes with appropriately scenario in surveillance airspace. Whisper-Shout interrogation sequence, which is one of the key functions of the interrogator, can control airport traffic density when intruder airplanes are coming into the surveillance airspace. Therefore collision chance between airplanes could be reduced and also get highly accurate location of incoming airplane in multilateration systems. In this paper, we developed the interrogator that allows it to transmit Mode A/C and Mode S interrogations which is similar to existing secondary surveillance radar. With appropriately controlled Whisper-Shout sequence in the interrogator, the multilateration systems can avoid synchronous garbling and FRUIT phenomenons caused by receiving multiple responses from a number of airplanes.

  • In this paper, a new algorithm for the calculation of the range between an LTE base station (BS) and a user equipment (UE) using time-of-arrival (TOA) measurements of LTE signals is proposed. First, the cell identity (cell ID) of the received signal is acquired using the primary synchronization signal (PSS) and secondary synchronization signal (SSS) to identify the BS transmitted the signal. The proposed algorithm exploits the cell-specific reference signal (CRS), the reference sequence inserted in commercial LTE signals, to estimate the time delay using 2D cross-correlation. The obtained TOA estimations can be used to calculate the range employed from the known BS location. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated with the experiment performed using real LTE signals transmitted from the commercial BS.

  • A demand of marine outfall system have been much increased for the effective disposal of the wastewater due to population and industrial development at the coastal areas. The outfall system discharges primary or secondary treated effluent into coastline or at the deep water, or between these two. The discharge is carried out by constructing a pipeline on the sea bed with a diffuser or with a tunnel, risers and appropriate. The effluent, which has a density similar to that of fresh water, rises to the sea surface forming plume or jet, together with entraining the surrounding salt water and becomes very dilute. Thus there have been growing interests about plume behaviour around the outfall system. Plume or jet discharged from single-port or multi-port diffuser might cause certain impacts on coastal environment. Near field mixing characteristics of discharged water field using CORMIX model with has been studied for effective outfall design various conditions on ambient current, depth, flow rate, effluent concentration, diffuser specification, port specification etc.. This kind of analysis is necessary to deal with water quality problems caused by the ocean discharge. The analyzed vesult was applied to the Pusan Jungang dffluent outfall system plan.

  • In this study, $Y_2O_3$ thin films were etched with inductively coupled plasma (ICP). The etch rate of $Y_2O_3$ , and the selectivity of $Y_2O_3$ to YMnO$_3$were investigated by varying $Cl_2$/($Cl_2$+Ar) gas mixing ratio. The maximum etch rate of $Y_2O_3$ , and the selectivity of $Y_2O_3$ to YMnO$_3$ were 302/min, and 2.4 at $Cl_2$/($Cl_2$+Ar) gas mixing ratio of 0.2 repetitively. In x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis, $Y_2O_3$ thin film was dominantly etched by Ar ion bombardment, and was assisted by chemical reaction of Cl radical. These results were confirmed by secondary ion mass spectroscopy(SIMS) analysis. YCl, and $YC_3$ existed at 126.03 a.m.u, and 192.3 a.m.u, respectively.

  • Ferroelectric YMnO$_3$thin films are excellent dielectric materials for high integrated ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) with metal-ferroelectric-silicon field effect transistor (MFSFET) structure. In this study, YMnO$_3$thin films were etched with Cl$_2$/Ar gas chemistries in inductively coupled plasma (ICP). The maximum etch rate of YMnO$_3$thin films is 285 $\AA$/min under Cl$_2$/Ar of 10/0, 600 W/-200 V and 15 mTorr. The selectivities of YMnO$_3$over CeO$_2$and $Y_2$O$_3$are 2.85, 1.72, respectively. The results of x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) reflect that Y is removed dominantly by chemical reaction between Y and Cl, while Mn is removed more effective by Ar ion bombardment than chemical reaction. The results of secondary ion mass spectrometer (SIMS) were equal to these of XPS. The etch profile of the etched YMnO$_3$film is approximately 65$^{\circ}$and free of residues at the sidewall.
