Seamless N-스크린 서비스를 위한 WiMedia D-MAC에서의 효율적인 멀티캐스트 전송 기술 (Efficient Multicast Transmission Scheme in WiMedia D-MAC for Seamless N-Screen Services)

  • 논문에서는 Seamless N-스크린 서비스를 위한 무선 통신 MAC 구조로서, WiMedia Distributed-MAC 프로토콜을 적용하고, Seamless D-MAC 프로토콜에서 P2P 스트리밍이 가능한 OSMU (One Source Multi Use) N-스크린 서비스를 제공하기 위해, Multicast-free DRP Availability IE 기술을 제안하고 성능을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 Multicast DRP Owner와 Receiver를 구분하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 제안하는 멀티캐스트 기술은 멀티캐스트 전송 시 요구되지 않는 ACK 전송 특성을 이용하여, 무선 N-스크린 전송을 위한 멀티캐스트 및 유니캐스트 전송 DRP 예약 구간을 확장하고 수율을 향상시키는 효과를 나타내었다.

  • This study set out to make experimental clothes by giving variations to the connecting part of a seamless sweater, propose designs and composition approaches to improve the wearing sensation and satisfaction with appearance through wearing trials, and provide basic data that would be of practical help to follow-up study on seamless knit and the growth of seamless knit in the Korean knit industry. The connecting part is the biggest characteristic and the most important part in seamless knitwear and affect the functionality and fitness of the clothes and the appearance of the armhole. The investigator thus made five different pieces of experimental clothes according to the composition methods for connecting part and put them to the test by a group of experts for appearance assessment. The assessment results were analyzed through Analysis of variance(ANOVA), and the items with similar results were put to the Duncan test for intergroup comparison. According to the analysis results, experimental clothes C and E received the highest evaluation in almost every assessment item, whereas experimental clothes A did the lowest appearance evaluation.

3차원 형상계측에 의한 니트 플레어스커트의 입체형상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Solid Shapes of Knit Flare Skirts Using 3-Dimensional Image Analysis)

  • This study set out to analyze the solid shapes of knit flared skirts, which are best represented in a 3-dimensional shape for all knit skirts, according to the seamed and seamless production method and to estimate the silhouettes of knit flared skirts based on the results. It also aimed to help with the introduction and spread of seamless weaving by revising and supplementing potential problems and provide findings that would be put to active use as basic data, thus contributing to the development of original knitwear and offering fundamental materials for the development of the knitting industry. A number of experimental knit flared skirts were made according to skirt angle ($90^{\circ}$ and $180^{\circ}$), gauge (7G, 12G, and 15G), and grain (bias, wale, and radial), including 12 kinds of seamed knit flared skirts and 6 kinds of seamless knit flared skirts. Using a three-dimensional shape measurement system, the investigator measured the cross-sectional shapes of their hemlines. The SPSS 12 Version program was used for statistical processing, and descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation were used to compare the seamed and seamless knit flared skirts in the measurements (measurement items) of their solid shapes according to the width, gauges, and grain directions. The central grain direction of seamless knit flared skirts was in a radial form and even hemlines, thus presenting a beautiful appearance and solid shape. The 3-dimensional shapes show that seamless knit flared skirts are superior to seamed ones. The research findings are expected to open a door for Korea's knitting industry to quickly respond to small quantity batch production and additional orders.

Cost-Effective APF/UPS System with Seamless Mode Transfer

  • In this paper, the development of a cost-effective active power filter/uninterruptible power supply (APF/UPS) system with seamless mode transfer is described. The proposed scheme employs a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) voltage-source inverter and has two operational modes. First, when the source voltage is normal, the system operates as an APF, which compensates for the harmonics and power factor while boosting the DC-link voltage to be ready for the disturbance, without an additional DC charging circuit. A simple algorithm to detect the load current harmonics is also proposed. Second, when the source voltage is out of the normal range (owing to sag, swell, or outage), it operates a UPS, which controls the output voltage constantly by discharging the DC-link capacitor. Furthermore, a seamless transfer method for the single-phase inverter between the APF mode and the UPS mode is also proposed, in which an IGBT switch with diodes is used as a static bypass switch. Dissimilar to a conventional SCR switch, the IGBT switch can implement a seamless mode transfer. During the UPS operation, when the source voltage returns to the normal range, the system operates as an APF. The proposed system has good transient and steady-state response characteristics. The APF, charging circuit, and UPS systems are implemented in one inverter system. Finally, the validity of the proposed scheme is investigated with simulated and experimental results for a prototype APF/UPS system rated at 3 kVA.

A Seamless Lawful Interception Architecture for Mobile Users in IEEE 802.16e Networks

  • Lawful interception (LI) involves legally accessing private communication such as telephone calls or email messages. Numerous countries have been drafting and enacting laws concerning the LI procedures. With the proliferation of portable Internet services such as the IEEE 802.16e wireless mobile networks, surveillance over illegal users is an emerging technical issue in LI. The evermigrating users and their changing IP's make it harder to provide support for seamless LI procedures on 802.16e networks. Few studies, however, on seamless LI support have been conducted on the 802.16e mobile networks environments. Proposed in this paper are a seamless LI architecture and algorithms for the 802.16e networks. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed architecture improves recall rates in intercepting mobile user, when compared to the existing LI architectures.

  • 네트워크 이동성 환경에서 기존에 제안된 프로토콜들은 많은 계산비용을 필요로 하거나 바인딩 갱신의 지연을 초래 할 수 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 네트워크 이동성 환경에서 안전한 seamless 핸드오버를 지원하기 위한 경량화된 인증 프로토콜을 제안한다. 이 방식은 바인딩 갱신 지연 시간을 최대한 줄이기 위해 접속 라우터간의 그룹키와 키 발행 서버로부터 발행된 마스터키를 이용하여 이동 라우터와 접속 라우터 간에 빠른 상호인증을 수행한다. 분석 결과 기존의 제안된 프로토콜보다 적은 계산량으로 빠른 바인딩 갱신을 수행할 수 있었으며 기존의 공격에도 강건함을 보였다.

  • 본 논문은 네트워크 이동성 환경에서 효율적인 seamless 핸드오버 프로토콜을 제안한다. Yokoda외 4명은 access router 간의 협력으로 로컬에서 fast 핸드오버 기법을 제안하였고 Teraoka 외 1명은 이동 네트워크 환경에서 layer 간의 협력으로 fast 핸드오버를 지원할 수 있는 기법을 제안하였다. 위의 두 프로토콜은 하나의 링크를 통해 패킷을 전송하고 패킷에 대한 우회 방법에 대해 언급하고 있지 않기 때문에 라우터의 링크 불안정시에는 패킷 손실 및 바인딩 갱신이 지연될 수 있다. 제안하는 프로토콜은 이동 네트워크에 있는 라우터간의 협력으로 기존의 프로토콜보다 빠른 바인딩 갱신을 할 수 있고 패킷 손실을 줄일 수 있다.

Seamless Mobile Learning: Possibilities and Challenges Arising from the Singapore Experience

  • The purposes of the present study are to describe the design of mobile learning scenarios based on learning sciences theories, and to discuss implications for the future research in this area. To move beyond mere speculations about the abundant possibilities of mobile learning and to make real impact in K-12 school settings, it is critical to conduct school-based research grounded on the learning sciences theories. Towards this end, this paper describes school-based mobile learning projects conducted by a research team at the Learning Sciences Lab in Singapore, and then discusses the possibilities and challenges of mobile learning to further inform future research. Specifically, this paper explores the affordances of mobile technology, such as portability, connectivity and context-sensitivity, to design seamless learning scenarios that bridge formal and informal learning experiences. The authors present a framework for re-conceptualizing different types of learning based on physical settings and intentionality, and then describe two seamless learning scenarios, namely 3Rs and Chinatown Trail, which were implemented in one primary school in Singapore. In conclusion, the authors discuss the affordances of seamless mobile learning for enhancing one's lived experiences to build a living ecological relationship between the person and the environment, and how mobile technology can play a critical role for enabling such lived experiences.

밴드 인페인팅 (Band In-painting)

  • 본 논문은 이미지에서 불필요한 영역을 삭제하고, 그 영역을 배경과 어울리게 채워넣는 이미지 인페인팅 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 인페인팅 방법은 크게 인페인팅 영역을 채우는 밴드 인페인팅(band in-painting)과 seamless cloning으로 나눌 수 있다. 밴드 인페인팅(band in-painting)은 인페인팅 영역의 경계를 따라서 일정한 두께를 가지는 타겟 밴드(target band)를 정의하고, 인페인팅 영역 밖의 모든 픽셀을 중심으로 하는, 타겟 밴드와 같은 모양과 크기를 가지는 소스 밴드(source band)와 타겟 밴드 차이를 계산하여, 그 값의 차이가 가장 작은 소스밴드 영역의 값을 인페인팅 영역에 복사하는 것이다. Seamless cloning은 인페인팅 영역과 입력 이미지의 경계를 없애는 것이다.

  • Handover is one of the most important factors that may degrade the performance of TCP connections and real-time applications in wireless data networks. We proposed a seamless handover with Motion Prediction in IEEE 802.16e-based broadband wireless access networks. By intergrating MAC and network layer handovers efficiently, this scheme minimizes the handover delay and eliminates packet losses during handover Simulations show that this scheme achieves loss-free packet delivery without packet duplication and increases TCP throughput significantly.
