임베디드 환경의 해상작업 모니터링 시스템 개발 (Development of Embedded based Sea Operation Monitoring System)

  • 해상작업 모니터링 시스템은 해상에서 수행될 수 있는 국가와 국가간의 광케이블 매설 작업이나 낙도의 전기 공급을 위한 해저의 전선 매설 작업, 천연가스공사의 파이프라인 매설 작업 등 각 종 해상작업에서 사용되는 선박 자동화를 위한 모니터링 시스템이다. 다양한 센서로부터의 입력과 환경 설정을 통해 얻어진 데이터를 가공 처리하고, 전자해도 데이터를 읽어 GPS의 위치정보와 함께 나타낸다. 또한, 작업과 관련한 루트파일의 정보를 오버레이하여 관련 데이터를 처리하며, 무선 네트워크 환경으로 구축된 무선접속장치(AP; Access Point)와 클라이언트 측의 휴대용 개인정보단말기(PDA; Personal Digital Assistants)를 무선랜으로 연동시켜 실시간으로 정보를 처리하도록 하며, 유효 반경 내에서의 자유로운 이동을 가능하게 하여 작업의 효용성을 높일 수 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 상황 하에서 해상작업과 관련한 모니터링 시스템을 임베디드 환경에서 설계 및 구현함으로써 선박 자동화와 선박의 안전 항해를 지원하고 해상에서의 작업 부하를 최소화시키며 사고 방지를 통한 선박의 경쟁력을 높일 수 있다.

선박충돌사고의 원인조사 및 분석방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Investigation and Analysis of Collisions at Sea)

  • The collisions at sea among marine casualties are not reduced as the tonnage and speed of ship's increase as well as the traffic quantity increase at sea, in spite of the improvement of nautical equipment, enforcement of crew's education and training as well as improvement of quality standard according to the implementation of ISM code. The measures to prevent the collisions at sea are simple, and are composed of six stage.: The first stage is that the officer on duty detect the target from his eye or radar information. The second stage is determining the type and kind of target-ship. The third stage is target tracking; calculation of target speed, course, CPA and TCPA from radar information or visual check. The fourth stage is determination of vessel in danger after calculation of third stage. The fifth stage is the judgement of situation if own ship is stand-on or give way vessel according to the 1972 COLREG. The last stage is to carry out proper action according to 1972 COLREG, under the circumstances. But by the case, the situations are so different under the different external conditions; for example, natural/navigational conditions, crew's human factors, ship's particular, rule or regulation, management system on board, the condition of watch keeping. Therefore the reasons and casualties are so complicated. This study aims to investigate the collision casualty at sea which needs to clarity all these causal factors of afore-mentioned, and to analyze the causes of problems so as to utilize them to establish the measures of preventing marine accidents. This study, described the concepts of causal factors into three groups; environmental factor, and company/on board management system and navigator's act. Also described how to investigate and analyzes the casual factors. Even though it was described in this paper how to detect the causal factors and reasons of collisions, and how to analyze the inter-relation of each causal factors, it is necessary to do further study how to analyze between the liability of concerned parties and the casual factors involved.

동해구 현측식 트롤 어선의 복원성 (The stability of the side trawler operating in East Sea of Korea)

  • Trawlers are divided into stern and side types by the method of shooting and hauling net, but the latter is difficult to find beside Korea. In East Sea of Korea, the side type used to be in early 2000's, but it improved to stern type because of its inefficient operating method. The aims of this paper is to make clear the stability of the side trawler in the East Sea, and then confirm whether it satisfy the IMO rule or not, the degree of the transverse inclining angle of the ship when hauling net at hull side. In results, the stability of the ship in initial inclining range satisfied the IMO rule and the domestic rule, but not satisfied those rule in over the range. The limit load of the ship that was coincide with the angle of beam end in hauling net at side was about 26 tons, 18 tons in normal sea condition and storm warning condition respectively. The transverse inclining angles of the ship in hauling net were much higher from 3.3 to 5.5 times than the longitudinal inclining angle of the stern trawler, although those angles were slightly changed with depending on the loading and sea condition.

동계 북태평양을 항행하는 대형선박의 황천피항조선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the VLCC's Handling to Avoid Heavy Weather ofthe North Pacific in Winter.)

  • In the North Pacific Ocean a lot of large waves set up in winter, affected by continued winds and swells owing to severe extratropical cyclones. Under this sea condition, if the ship is about 100,000L/T (in deadweight capacity tonnage), we can't find the danger involved in the ship at sea apparently. But when we compare the seaworthiness of ship's building strength with the stress given to the hull by waves, we can't insist that the former be more stronger than the latter. As a result, VLCC is in danger of destroying and cutting for lack of longitudinal strength in heavy weather. Up to this time, Naval Architects have actively studied the relation between ship's longitudinal strength and waves as a ship's projector; however, actually, they have never made more profound study on the problem of longitudinal strength in relation to navigation. The main puprpose of this thesis is to clarify these vivid actual states of ship's trouble unknown to ship's masters. In this thesis we picked up VLCC Pan Yard, a vessel of Pan Ocean Bulk Carrier company's, as a model ship. And in the North Pacific Ocean, we have chosen for this research the basins where the wind speed and the wave height are greater than average. The data used this thesis are quotes from the "winds and waves of the North Pacific Ocean('64-'73)", and wind speed more than 30 knots was made use of as an ocject of this study. By usinh the ITTC wave spectrum, we found out the significant waves for every 5 knots within the range of 20 knots to 45 knots of wind speed. According to this H1/1000 was calculated. The stress of ship's hull is determined by ship's speed and wave height. We compared the ship's longitudinal strength with a planned wave height by rules of several famous classification societies in the world. In the last analysis, we found out that ship's present planned strength in heavy weather is not enough. Finally we made a graph for avoiding heavy weather, with which we studied safe ship's handling in the North pacafic Ocean in winter.

  • This paper describes prototype Virtual Reality Ship Simulator (VRSS) that we have recently developed next-generation training equipment based on the virtual reality (VR) technology. The inherent defects of conventional ship simulators are enormous costs and difficult system upgrade due to the system construction, such as large mock-up bridge system, wide visual presentations, In this paper, to cope with those problems, we explored VR technology that can give realistic environments in a virtual world. Then we constructed prototype VRSS system, which is, consists of PC-based human sensors, and Databases set having 3D object models and coefficients of Head Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs). 3D-WEBMASTER authoring tool was used as Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML). Using the VRSS system, we constructed Port an Passage Simulator for the harbor of INCHON in Korea, and Ship and Sea State Simulator for an arbitrary given sea environmental states by user. Through many simulation tests, we testified the efficiency of developed prototype VRSS by subject assessment with five participants. Then, we present results on the simulation experiments and conclude with discussion of evaluation results.

  • Preliminary results are reported on ship detection using coherence images computed from cross-correlating images of multi-look-processed dual-polarization data (HH and HV) of ENVISAT ASAR. The traditional techniques of ship detection by radars such as CFAR (Constant False Alarm Rate) rely on the amplitude data, and therefore the detection tends to become difficult when the amplitudes of ships images are at similar level as the mean amplitude of surrounding sea clutter. The proposed method utilizes the property that the multi-look images of ships are correlated with each other. Because the inter-look images of sea surface are covered by uncorrelated speckle, cross-correlation of multi-look images yields the different degrees of coherence between the images and water. The polarimetric information of ships, land and intertidal zone are first compared based on the cross-correlation between HH and HV. In the next step, we examine the technique when the dual-polarization data are split into two multi-look Images.

손상선박의 생존성 평가 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Survivability Assessment System of Damaged Ships)

  • Ship damage due to maritime casualties lead to marine pollution, loss of life and properties. The maritime casualties come from the rough sea and bad weather condition generally. Therefore the large-scaled casualties will be derived from loss of structural strength and stability due to the progressive flooding and enlargement of damage by the effect of wave and wind. The improvement of damage survivability is very important in maritime safety This paper described the damage survivability assessment system which can be evaluate and improve the ship safety in consideration of loading, sea and damage condition. The components of the system and decision criteria for damage stability and structural safety is established. The ship modeler and behavior analysis program in wave is developed. Finally further research work is also discussed.

  • 이 논문에서는 제한수역에서 항행하는 대형선박들간의 안전항해를 위하여, 해난사고 방지에 필요한 선박들간의 적절한 안전속력 및 거리를 확보하기 위하여, 두 선박간의 속도비, 선장비, 횡방향 거리 및 종방향 거리를 변수로 하여 조종운동에 관한 시뮬레이션을 행하였다. 이상의 수치 계산 결과는 대형선박들이 왕래가 빈번한 폭주해역에서의 해상교통안전의 측면에서 볼 때 상당히 유용할 것이다.

Representation of small passenger ferry maneuvering motions by practical modular model

  • Maneuvering motions of a ship in calm water are studied through the concept of MMG model. Governing forces are defined by the use of available empirical formulae that require only main ship particulars as input variables. In order to validate the calculation tool, a full-scale sea experiment was carried out in Osaka Bay using a 17-m twin-screw passenger ferry. Test execution and data measurement were performed through the utilization of an autopilot control unit and satellite compass. The result of a straight running test confirms the acceptable accuracy in addressing the surge motion problem. Reasonable agreement between simulation and experiment is also confirmed for 5°/5° and 10°/10° zig-zag tests despite the strong environmental disturbance. The current model can generally represent the subject ship maneuvering motions and is promising for the application to other ship hulls.
