  • The present experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of direct sowing time and transplanting culture of Sculellaria baicalensis GEORGE on the grows, the yield and it's components. The results obtained are summarized as fallows; The number of days from seeding to emergence was recognized lineary negative correlation between seeding dates and transplanting dates. Plant height was longest on Apr. 15 Seeding and Apr. 1 transplanting, and was short in the early seeding and transplanting, and the late seeding and transplanting. Stem diameter was thickest on Apr. 15 seeding and Apr. 1 transplanting, and was thin in the early, and the late seeding and trasplanting. Length and dry weight of root were increased on Apr. 15 seeding. In the transplanting date, Length and dry weight of root were increased on Apr.1. Yield of dry root was highest in Apr. 15 seeding date. In the transplanting culture, yield of dry root was highest in Apr.1.

  • This study was invesigated to find out the optimum planting densities of Sculellaria baicalensis GEORGE about growth characters, yield components and yield at 6 planting densities by direct sowing culture. The results obtained are summarized as follows ; Studying the correlationship, the highly negative significances were found between planting densities and dry wights of root, leaves and stem ; on the other hand, the highly positive significances were found between planting densities and plant hight, stem diameter, respeitively. Plant height was long in dense planting, and short in spacious planting by direct sowing culture. Stem diameter was thick in spacious planting, and was thin in dense planting. Length and dry weight of root per plant were decreased in dense planting and were increased in spacious planting by direct sowing culture. Quality and yield of dry root weight were highest in optimum planting densities (30${\times}$10cm ; 33plants/m$^2$) by direct sowing culture.

  • The objective of present study was to investigate the effect of Baikal Skullcap (Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi) extracts on recovery of liver function in $CCl_4$-exposed rats. The values of RBC, Hb and PCV did not show significant difference among all treatment groups. The counts of WBC was lower in Skullcap extracts groups than in control group. The ratio of neutrophils and eosinophiles were decreased, and the ratio of lymphocytes and monocytes were increased with increased administration of Skullcap extracts dosage. The ratio of basophils was, however, not significantly different among all treatment groups. The concentration of plasma total protein and albumin showed no significant difference among all treatment groups. The ratio of albumin/globulin was higher in Skullcap extracts groups than in control group. The activities of GOT, GPT and LDH were lower in Skullcap extracts groups, compared to control group. The liver IL-$1{\beta}$, IL-6 and TNF-$\alpha$ concentration were decreased, and IL-10 was increased in Skullcap extract groups, compared to control group. Results of this study suggested that Skullcap may alleviate liver inflammatory reaction induced by liver toxicity.
