This study focuses on the fabrication of a WC/Co composite powder from the oxide of WC/Co hardmetal scrap using solid carbon in a hydrogen gas atmosphere for the recycling of WC/Co hardmetal. Mixed powders are manufactured by mechanically milling the oxide powder of WC-13 wt% Co hardmetal scrap and carbon black with varying powder/ball weight ratios. The oxide powder of WC-13 wt% Co hardmetal scrap consists of $WO_3$ and $CoWO_4$. The mixed powder mechanically milled at a lower powder/ball weight ratio (high mechanical milling energy) has a more rapid carbothermal reduction reaction in the formation of WC and Co phases compared with that mechanically milled at a higher powder/ball weight ratio (lower mechanical milling energy). The WC/Co composite powder is fabricated at $900^{\circ}C$ for 6 h from the oxide of WC/Co hardmetal scrap using solid carbon in a hydrogen gas atmosphere. The fabricated WC/Co composite powder has a particle size of approximately $0.25-0.5{\mu}m$.
In this research, the optimal manufacturing conditions of fine Si powders from Si scrap were investigated as a function of different initial powder size using the high-energy ball milling equipment, which produces the fine powder by means of an ultra high-energy within a short duration. The morphological change of the powders according to the milling time was observed by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). With the increasing milling time, the size of Si powder was decreased. In addition, more energy and stress for milling were required with the decreasing initial powder size. The refinement of Si scrap was rapidly carried out at 10min ball milling time. However, the refined powder started to agglomerate at 30 min milling time, while the powder size became uniform at 60 min milling time.
Because of its unique properties, tungsten is a strategic and rare metal used in various industrial applications. However, the world's annual production of tungsten is only 84000 t. Ammonium paratungstate (APT), which is used as the main intermediate in industrial tungsten production, is usually obtained from tungsten concentrates of wolframite and scheelite by hydrometallurgical treatment. Intermediates such as tungsten trioxide, tungsten blue oxide, tungstic acid, and ammonium metatungstate can be derived from APT by thermal decomposition or chemical attack. Tungsten metal powder is produced through the hydrogen reduction of high-purity tungsten oxides, and tungsten carbide powder is produced by the reaction of tungsten powder and carbon black powder at 1300-1700℃ in a hydrogen atmosphere. Tungsten scrap can be divided into hard and soft scrap based on shape (bulk or powder). It can also be divided into new scrap generated during the production of tungsten-bearing goods and old scrap collected at the end of life. Recycling technologies for tungsten can be divided into four main groups: direct, chemical, and semi-direct recycling, and melting metallurgy. In this review, the current status of tungsten smelting and recycling technologies is discussed.
In this study, Ti powder was fabricated from Ti scrap by the Hydrogenation-Dehydrogenation (HDH) method. Hydrogenation reactions of Ti scrap occurred at near 450 $^{\circ}C$ with a sudden increase in the reaction temperature and the decreasing pressure of hydrogen gas during the hydrogenation process in the furnace. The dehydrogenation process was also carried out at 750 $^{\circ}C$ for 2hrs in a vacuum of $10^{-4}$ torr. After the HDH process, a deoxidation treatment was carried out with the Ca(purity: 99.5) at 700 $^{\circ}C$ for 2hrs in the vacuum system. It was found that the oxidation content of Ti powder that was deoxidized with Ca showed noticeably lower values, compared to the content obtained by HDH process. In order to fabricate Ti compacts, Ti powder was sintered at $1100\sim1400^{\circ}C$ for 2hrs under a vacuum of $10^{-4}$ torr. The relative density of compact was 94.9% at 1300 $^{\circ}C$. After sintering, all of the Ti compacts showed brittle fracture behavior, which occurred in an elastic range with short plastic yielding up to a peak stress.

Bulk graphite is manufactured using graphite scrap as the filler and phenolic resin as the binder. Graphite scrap, which is the by-product of processing the final graphite product, is pulverized and sieved by particle size. The relationship between the density and porosity is analyzed by measuring the mechanical properties of bulk graphite. The filler materials are sieved into mean particle sizes of 10.62, 23.38, 54.09, 84.29, and 126.64 ㎛. The bulk graphite density using the filler powder with a particle size of 54.09 ㎛ is 1.38 g/㎤, which is the highest value in this study. The compressive strength tends to increase as the bulk graphite density increases. The highest compressive strength of 43.14 MPa is achieved with the 54.09 ㎛ powder. The highest flexural strength of 23.08 MPa is achieved using the 10.62 ㎛ powder, having the smallest average particle size. The compressive strength is affected by the density of bulk graphite, and the flexural strength is affected by the filler particle size of bulk graphite.

This study focused on examining the possibility for recycling of Fe-Si electric sheet. We manufactured Fe-6.5Si mother alloy using by Fe-Si electric sheet scrap for transformer core materials. And then, soft magnetic alloy powder which diameter and shape were $45{\sim}150{\mu}m$ and sphere type was prepared by gas atomization process. As we compared to commercial Fe-6.5Si powder, its diameter distribution and microstructure of recycled powder was a similar. To investigate the possibility of reusing the soft magnetic composite sheet for electronics, recycled powder was treated to have a high aspect ratio (AR), and we finally obtained the 65~66 AR and $2.3{\mu}m$ thickness powder. To release the residual stress of powder, heat treatment was conducted under $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$, $N_2$ gas. And then, soft magnetic sheet was made by tape casting process using by those powders. After the density and permeability of tape was measured, and we confirmed that the recycled Fe-Si electric sheet scrap was possible to reuse the soft magnetic materials of electronics.
The effect of ball milling conditions in the milling of aluminium foil scraps was studied. Initial foil thickness, ball size. content of oleic acid. weight ratio of mineral spirits/foil. charged amount of foil were varied in wet ball milling process. It is impossible to make flake powders by milling of foil scraps with thickness $120 \mum$. As foil thickness decreases from $60\mum$ to $6.5\mum$, Mean size of powder milled for 30 h decreases from 107 µm to 17 µm. Bigger ball is slightly beneficial for milling of foils to the flake powders due to the larger impact energy produced by them. It is impossible to mill the foil without oleic acid to fabricate the flake powder. As content of oleic acid increases from 1.5 % to 5 %, mean size of flake powder milled for 30 h is drastically decreased. For the mineral spirits content below 50 %, foil scrap was not milled because sliding motion of balls by lubricant effect between balls and wall of container. As weight ratio of mineral spirits and foil increase over 100 %, foils were milled powders with mean powder size 15 - 20 때 irrespective of mineral spirits content due to reduced lubricant effect. As charged amount of foil decreases, mean powder size decreases due to increased collision frequency between ball and foil.
Recycling of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM) scrap was tried by blending with polypropylene (PP). EPDM scrap powder was prepared by shear pulverization process at high temperature, which may lead to selective chain scission induced by difference in the critical elastic coefficient. On the other hand, EPDM scrap powder was prepared by adding a selected reclaiming agent during shear pulverization process at high temperature. Terpene as a bonding agent was then introduced to improve adhesion property. PP, used as a matrix for manufacturing thermoplastic elastomer, was modified by the incorporation of dicumyl peroxide and maleic anhydride. The functionalized EPDM and modified PP were blended and cured dynamically at $190^{\circ}C$. The blend materials prepared in this study showed the comparable results to those of conventional TPE in terms of tensile and flow properties. Also, the odor component of recycled EPDM was analyzed using GC-MS.

Fe-9.8Si-6.0Al mother alloy was manufactured using by Fe-3.5Si recycled scrap and Si powder. And then, soft magnetic alloy powder of $D_{50}$ size and sphere type were prepared by gas atomization process. To obtain the soft magnetic powder of a high aspect ratio, in the first, we conducted the ball milling process for 8 hours. And heat treatment was performed under $650^{\circ}C$, 2 hours and $N_2$ atmosphere condition for reducing the residual stress of the powder. Based on these process, we made around $50{\mu}m$ diameter Fe-9.8Si-6.0Al powder, which morphology and shape was a similar to the commercial Fe-Si-Al powder. Finally, the soft magnetic sheets were prepared by tape casting process using by those powders. The permeability of the tape casting sheet was measured, and we confirmed the possibility of reusing to the soft magnetic materials of Fe-Si electric sheet scrap.
