Functional Properties of Milk (우유의 기능성)

  • Milk is a first food for as long as the mammalian race has existed. A characteristic unique to mammal is their ability to secrete milk as a source of nutrients and immunological protection for their young. From a nutitrional viewpoint, milk has heen described as nature's most perfect food, owing mainly to its biological role as the only source of nutrition for the infant mammal. Milk is estimated to contain more than 100,000 molecular species, However, the average contents of milk can be simplified to 3.4% fat, 3.1% protein (80% casein protein and 20% whey protein), 4.5% lactose, and 0.7% ash. Chemically, milk is a very complex fluid rich in nutrients, antibodies, growth factors, antimicrobial components etc. This report will discuss functional properties of milk components, such as lactoferrin, opoid peptide, CPP, cGMP and sialic acid etc.

  • The 2-packaged polyurethane coatings were synthesized, blending pheylmodified polyesters(of which synthetic methods were reported in the previous paper), Desmodur L-75(polyisocyanate wide1y used for coatings), wetting-dispersing agent, white pigment. etc. A variety of coating properties were tested for the coating treatment polyurethane coationgs. Compared with conventional 2-packaged polyure-thane coating, abrasion resistance and lightness index difference of the ones synthesized in the present work were somewhat decreased, but the coating properties such as hardness, gloss specular, cross hatch adhesion. etc. were improved. Especially, resistance against chemical reagents and salt were strikingly improved. In addition. the coationgs had short drying time and long pot-life. This shows that the coationgs are appropriate for rapid drying coatings.

  • Coumarin derivatives were shown to possess valuable pharmacological properties such as anticancer/anti carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, anti helicobacter, anti genotoxic, neuroprotective and dietary effect. In this study, novel coumarin derivatives structurally related to 7-geranyloxycoumarin were effectively synthesised in good yields by $Cs_2CO_3$/acetonitrile in mild condition. The synthesis of geranyloxycoumarin derivatives in weak base($Na_2CO_3$, $K_2CO_3$, $Cs_2CO_3$ etc)/$CH_3CN$ at room temperature obtained in good yield. On the other hand, the reaction of geranyloxycoumarin formation in strong base(NaOH, KOH, CsOH etc)/$CH_3CN$ at reflux condition obtained in low yield.

  • In this era of globally competitive world market, many business firms have been using ISO 9000 quality management system, whose principles are leadership, customer focus, people involvement, etc., which are expected and desired to be attained for the various long/short term goals of the business firms. This paper studies whether and how those principles are implemented in the areas of service, manufacturing, etc., and researches the regression relations between business firm's performance and those principles. Using hypothesis testing, we found and showed results which can be referenced for the higher performance of business firms and those can be added to the pool of knowledge about the ISO principles implementation in service and manufacturing industries.

  • Porous carbons have beef used as adsorbents, filters, catalyst supports, etc. due to well-development pore structure. Porous carbons can be prepared by two different activation processes i.e. physical activation by steam or CO$_2$, and chemical activation by KOH, H$_3$PO$_4$ etc. from various raw material. Recently, agricultural wastes such as rice hulls [1], coconut shell [2-31 and straws [4] are growing interest as precursors fur porous carbons due to its easy availability and cheapness. (omitted)

  • Nanotechnology is considered the most important technological advancement in recent years, and it is utilized in all industries due to its potential applications. Almost all of the industries (food, agriculture, medicine, automotive, information and communication technologies, energy, textile, construction, etc.) reorganize their future in the light of nanotechnological developments. As the most important source of income of countries, the agriculture industry increases the use of nanotechnology products gradually as a solution to the problems encountered. Reducing the use of agricultural inputs (pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, etc.) by increasing their efficiency utilizing nano-carriers, detecting the environmental conditions and development of the crops in the field simultaneously by making use of nanosensors, reducing the sample volume and the amount of analyte used thanks to nanoarrays, effective treatment of water resources through nano-filters, accelerating the development of crops by using nanoparticles are the prominent nanotechnological applications in the agriculture industry. This review presents information on the benefits of the recent developments in nanotechnology applications in the agriculture industry.

  • The large-scale disasters occur to unexpected accidents such as natural disasters(earthquake, typhoon, tsunami, etc.), and human-caused accidents(fire, collapse, terror etc.). Rescue teams perform rescue activities to save many lives in large-scale disaster area. The main purpose of this study is to compose a optimal routing planning for rescue of multiple victims in disaster area. A realistic routing planning with rescue limit time which considers rehabilitation and reconstruction will be suggested in this study. A mathematical programming model and a hybrid genetic algorithm will be suggested to minimize the total spending time. By comparing the result, the suggested algorithm gives a better solution than existing algorithms.

  • This research is to select a path planning algorithm to maximize survivability for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV). An UAV is a powered pilotless aircraft, which is controlled remotely or autonomously. UAVs are currently employed in many military missions(surveillance, reconnaissance, communication relay, targeting, strike etc.) and a number of civilian applications(communication service, broadcast service, traffic control support, monitoring, measurement etc.). In this research, a mathematical programming model is suggested by using MRPP(Most Reliable Path Problem) and verified by using ILOG CPLEX. A path planning algorithm for UAV is selected by comparing of SPP(Shortest Path Problem) algorithms which transfer MRPP into SPP.

  • In this paper, the status of the recent applications of carbon fiber was investigated through the published papers, informations or data of the internet etc. The production cost of the carbon fiber will be lowered and in the other hand the quality would be upgraded. Therefore in the automobile area, the use of the carbon fiber will be increased, specially for the high quality cars and the sports cars. Also the structures, wings and many secondary parts of the commercial airplanes will be made of carbon fibers more and more. The carbon fiber applications are extended to many fields including ship buildings like as boats, canoes and retrofitting in civil engineering, sporting goods, instruments etc.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore ways to imporve bookmobile operations by investigating bookmobiles' operating status and users' behavior in DaeJeon City. Concerning the bookmobiles operated in 32 areas of DaeJeon City, the suitability of visiting area and staying hours, the correlation between users' circumstances and lending aspects, the effects of bookloan shop in the same area, etc. are analyzed, and for the improvement of bookmobile operations, the utilization of volunteers, the connection with the main libraries' collection, the development of service programs, the strengthening of publicity activities, etc. are proposed.
