'One Book, One City' reading campaign is one of the major reading campaigns, successfully conducted by public libraries in this century. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the significance of 'One Book, One City' reading campaign, as an innovative, continuing, and collective reading campaign by analyzing its growth and diffusion during the past six years. Also, analyzed are the themes. genres, and publication dates of the books and the characteristics of authors selected for 'One Book' in order to understand the cultural, social, and community-wide trend and objectives of 'One Book, One City' reading campaigns. An analysis of lists of 'One Book, One City' Reading Promotions Projects' available from the website of the Library of Congress, the Center for the Books, and bibliographic records of ninety books from LC OPAC, shows the preference for books recently published, significance of biographies and biographical fictions, and focus on the themes which help people better understand a multi-cultural and multi-racial society.

Great Books of the Western World(GBWW) is a series of books published in 1952 by Encyclopaedia Britannica to present the famous works in 54 volumes. The series is now in its second edition and contains 60 volumes. A syntopicon compiled by M. Adler is a two-volume index, published as volumes 2 and 3 of GBWW. The syntopicon was coined specifically for this undertaking, which means a collection of topics. Syntopicon lists, under each idea, is where every occurrence of the concept can be located in the collection's famous works. This study aims to analyze the structure and utility of topic index, syntopicon in GBWW. The syntopicon consists of 102 chapters on the 102 ideas. Each chapter is broken down into five distinct sections: the introduction, an outline of topics, references, cross-references, and additional readings. The syntopicon can serve as a reference book, as a selection tool of book to be read, instrument of liberal education, instrument of discovery and research, syntopical reading of other reading material, development tool of convergent education, and analysis tool of works.

The purpose of the study is to build a general cost a counting model for university libraries, to clarify the possible areas of its a n.0, pplication by employing job cost accounting and process cost accounting methods. System analysis is performed as to the fields of acquisition, processing (cataloging & classification), and book shelving system. The existing operation processes and time required for each operation of these three systems are analyzed, from which detailed system flowcharts were drawn and job descriptions and the content of job were identified. The purpose of this study is to understand the direction of 'One Book, One City' community reading campaign by analyzing the characteristics of selected books, including their classification numbers, subject headings, publication dates, and genres. An analysis of lists of 'One Book, One City' Reading Promotions Projects' available from the website of the Library of Congress, the Center for the Books, and bibliographic records of 210 books from LC OPAC, shows the preference for the recently published American literatures in the genre of Bildungsromane and domestic fiction which describe the life of people with multi-cultural or ethnic backgrounds. It is confirmed that 'One Book, One City' community reading campaign has been consistently oriented to achieve the understanding and integration of a community by reading and discussion of one book.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of the military library services and the factors for promoting the reading of the soldiers and the activation of the use of the library by investigating the perception, use behavior and satisfaction of the library users, and the usefulness of 'JinJung' library collection. For this purpose, we surveyed the users of the Army, Navy, and Air Force military libraries. As a result of the survey, they responded that they were reading to acquire new knowledge and information and to cultivate the education. The favorite reading areas were general fiction, poetry, comic books, martial arts and fantasy novels. In order to encourage the soldiers to read in the military, diversity and quantitative expansion of collections are most needed, and soldiers said they most desire to expand the books on novels, poetry, admissions and employment preparation books. In addition, in order to increase the utilization rate of the military library and the interest in reading, it was necessary to increase the accessibility of the soldiers' library and books to the military, and to increase the library use time.

The Joseon Dynasty suffered a great loss from the Japan invasion of Korea in 1592. At that time so many precious books were plundered by Japanese Army. And that plundered books, now in Japan, include a lot of complete titles of the books were given by the Kings - the Naesabon (內賜本) - of the early Joseon Dynasty period. If we could find out the quantities and the contents of them, it could be helpful for studying the same books remained incompletely now in Korea. In this respect, understanding current situation of the Naesabon(內賜本) is an important subject of the Korean bibliographic and historical studies. The purpose of this study is finding out the current situation of the Naesabon(內賜本) now in Japan, especially published in 16th century.

This study researches to prove the character of the bottom book of the 'Tripitaka Koreana'and its carved book. From the research, it is Proved that the First Tripitaka 51books and the new Tripitaka that is the second Tripitaka collected in the Holim museum are the overtum cared books or the contracted overtum cared books of 'Tripitaka keybo'. And finds out some outline on the bottom and compared book used when published the new Tripitaka by comparing it by Sugi Buddhist priest: he published the new book using the Songbon(宋本) at first as the bottom book and compared it with the Kookbon(國本) and Danbon(丹本) and contracted it based on them. This corrected Songbon was used once more as the bottom book of the new Tripitaka. And It is grasped that some Tripitaka containing some serious mistakes and missed in Songbon was corrected based on the Kookbon and Danbon and caved it or made a new carved book to insert or substitute it to the new Tripitaka. study researches So this study concludes that such differences showing in these two books are on the bases of the gaps in time and space between them.

This study proposes the Book-Curation service as part of the information service offered through school library websites. Also, this study aims to establish recommendation standards for curation prior to detailed system planning. For such service, the following tasks were carried out. First, the list of recommended books of existing systems were analyzed to identify the attributes that can be used for recommendation in the user and book information. Second, the analyzed attributes were utilized to establish 12 recommendation standards. Finally, a survey was carried out to identify the user preferences as to each standards. The results are as follows. First, the majority of students responded that curation service is necessary for using a library. Second, the top three standards are as follows: "best lending books based on the keywords of individual users"; "best lending books of the same year students"; "best lending books on the textbook-related reference booklist".

Legal deposit is a system that a person who publishes in the country a work shall deposit a certain copies of publications in designated libraries or institutions in order to preserve and transfer national knowledge and culture heritage. Under "Libraries Act" and "National Assembly Library Act", depositors shall present books to the Library and the Library shall properly compensate him/her for such copies presented. This study focuses on presentation and proper compensation of books. This study has reviewed laws and regulations about them in major countries and our country, and analyzed the current status and some problems of our country. This study has analyzed the constitutionality of legal deposit, the refusal of copies presented, and the meaning of proper compensation through analyzing cases on legal deposit. Based on these analyses, it has proposed the modification of regulations on presentation and proper compensation of books, the establishment of specific rules on proper compensation, and the penalties on unfair presentation.

The purpose of this study is to investigate if there is a relationship between reading to schoolchildren picture books on a library and its effects on their library use. 14 library-related picture books and 64 students in third grade of an elementary school in Suwon were selected for reading activities for 7 weeks to students with once a week program. The survey was conducted to those students to observe the changes in students' recognition on a library and a librarian before and after reading activities. As a result, it appears to be some improvements on reading attitude, understanding and awareness of function and using ways of school libraries, and the role of a school librarian. However, no changes have been made on the recognition of reading activities and a librarian. Based on these results, the study suggest that reading picture books to children could be continuous and highly effective methods to library education system.
