  • This study aimed to analyze the research trends of school libraries from 1990 to July 2020. To this end, LDA topic modeling analysis was conducted to the domestic article abstracts related to school libraries. The total number of documents is 498 papers published by the four major domestic journals in Library and Information Science. The log-likelihood estimate criterion was used to determine the number of topics for topic modeling. As a result of the study, 27 topics were discovered, then, theory were categorized by eight subject areas: general, institutional system, building/equipment, operation/management, data organization, service, education, and others. The most popular research was library utilization classes (T27) and Information Utilization (T2). More than 20 studies were found in each evaluation index development (T13), school librarian placement (T24), learning information media utilization (T3), community public library (T7), library cooperation (T9), library use (T17), library research (T11), reading education (T4), collection development (T5), and education effects/teaching methods (T18).

  • The purpose of this study is to redefine the competencies of teacher librarians and to derive implications for training and re-educating teacher librarians by analyzing the priorities of competencies. A questionnaire survey targeting teacher librarians based on analytic hierarchy process has been conducted. The results indicate that in terms of the upper-level areas of competencies, it was found that they prioritized teacher librarians' competencies in the following order: information specialists, teachers, administrators, and cooperative leaders. Analysis of the lower levels of competency indicates that the priorities of the required competencies are listed in the following order: collection development, management and preservation, teaching and learning, media production, information service, library cooperative instruction, library assisted instruction, content curation. Therefore, being able to provide information resources by developing a collection of books to support the educational process in school libraries was found to be a critical competency. It seems necessary to cultivate the capacity to manage online and offline collections and produce and provide various teaching media and services by utilizing school library resources. It seems to give implications for the education of teacher librarians.

  • This study was conducted under the premise that the university library's subject specialization room is in need of major modifications in order to accommodate the needs of various majors. The subject specialization room will be able to support university library users who are inclined to use the general reading room. Therefore, the study presents spatial planning for the average university library's subject specialization room by taking into account student majors. This could be a guideline for the construction and renovation of university libraries in the future. The summary of results for this study and the conclusions are as follows: 1)Natural sciences subject specialization room should be, partially connected with the humanities/social science subject specialization room in order to provide an open-concept reference room. In the shared area connecting the two subject specialization rooms needs to be installed a staff counter and subject specialist librarian service booth for users of both subject specialization rooms. 2)For humanities/social sciences subject specialization room, partially connect with the natural sciences subject specialization room. In the connecting area between the two rooms, plan an open-concept lounge for resting and reading. 3)It is best to plan subject specialization room for art/music/physical education majors separate from the subject specification room of other majors. Structurally separate art/music/physical education major subject specialization rooms from the building or plan a separate room in an art/music/physical education building. Users of art/music/physical education majors showed a high preference for a spatially separated and specialized library structure, which proves that an art/music/physical education library need to be planed based on the specialized library structure found in law school libraries or medical school libraries. Plan the center of the room with open-concept based reading room. Use wall-sides, partitions, or shelves to create reading space separate from the shelving area.

  • Interoperability and collaborations have become essential factors for developing a digital library. TEL, the European Library, is a new Pan-European service which gives access to the combined resources of the national libraries in Europe, and also TEL is the name of a project to implement TEL service. The vision of TEL stems from the characteristics that the national libraries offer, which is the comprehensiveness of collection, the national libraries' holdings of outstanding historical and special collection, reliability of information and high quality. Moreover, the national libraries are in a unique position to invest in creating added value to the digitized documents and to show the cultural diversity between EU members. From the viewpoint of digital library techniques, TEL explored some advanced methodologies to guarantee the interoperability between heterogenious collections and libraries. In this study, we examine the development of TEL including publisher relations, metadata developments, and retrieval features.

Results: The included studies were published from 2004 to 2017. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria to the retrieved 92 studies, a total of 11 studies were included for the final analysis. The questionnaire developed by Slavitt, Stamps, Piedmont and Haase was the most common tool used from the included studies. In the study using 5 point Likert type scale, the average job satisfaction level of emergency medical technicians was 3.18. It was 2.86 based on 4 point scale. Conclusion: According to the study results, the satisfaction level of emergency medical technicians is around the medium level. • Cooperative program planning and teaching is a strategy for developing and implementing resource based learning. This approach combines the classroom teacher's subject expertise and knowledge of the students with the teacherlibrarian's specialized knowledge of the availability and use of learning materials. And the purpose of cooperative program planning is to develop learning experiences or units of study that effectively integrate the student's resource center activities with other learning experiences. There are also some conditions that are conducive to effective planning sessions. First, the teacher-librarian must be prepared to initiate planning with teachers, rather than waiting for teachers to come to them. Second, the teacher-librarian must be prepared to present suggestions in such a way that the teacher can respond. The purpose of this study is (1) to investigate the planning process of cooperative program planning and teaching in the previous studies and (2) to find general problems when the cooperative program planning and teaching apply in actual situation. For these purposes, I chose a school library and a teacher-librarian in Seoul to observe how this cooperative program planning and teaching carry out in the school library. Main findings are summarized as follows: (1) A teacher who teaches alone for one grade is more proper to carry out the cooperative program planning and teaching. Young teachers are usually more active to change their teaching methods. (2) The cooperative program planning and teaching is a program what needs a lot of materials. When there is no right reference book in a school library, it would be good to access DB through PC telecommunication. It is also possile to contact lirarians who work in large public libraries or university libraries. (3) The cooerative program planning and teaching needs cooperative working between a teacher-librarian and a teacher. Thus a teacher-librarian should be in his school in the day time like the other teachers for the program's planning process. ( 4) There has to be a guide to change into resource based learning in teaching method. Thus the Korean Library Association or Korean Library and Information Science Society should offer a seminar or a workshop about cooperative program planning and teaching for the teacher-librarians. (5) It needs a system that a teacher-librarian can know about student's assignments so that he can prepare reference books for them. (6) The school library can be able to offer excellent service like cooperative program planning and teaching to the teachers and students according to a teacher-librarian's enthusiasm.
