A Meta-analysis of Variable Related to Psychological Effects of the Elderly Target Program (노인대상프로그램의 심리적 효과와 관련된 변인에 대한 메타분석)

  • Purpose. This study aims to present basic data to develop programs suitable to the characteristics of elderly people through a meta-analysis of effectiveness of variables related to psychological effects of programs of elderly people conducted in past 15 years. Methods. The analysis subjects are total 229 articles related to the psychological effects of programs for elderly people and submitted for master or doctor degrees or published in academic journals. CMA2 is used for the analysis. Results. The results of this study shows lower variables of the psychological effect promoting factor group that are highly effective for Life Satisfaction, Self-Efficacy, Self-Respect and Self-Integration and lower variables of suppressing factor group that are highly effective for Loneliness, Tension, Weakness, Anger and Depression. For the effect scale of psychological effect promoting factors, Arts is shown to be the highest followed by Exercise, Consultation, Recollection, Others and Recreation in order. For the effect scale of suppressing factors, Consultation is shown to be the highest followed by Recollection, Arts, Exercise, Others and Recreation) in order. Conclusions. This study has its own meaning for establishing integrated factors of psychological effects of programs for elderly people and presenting realistic data for planing programs suitable for various desires of elderly people.

Review of Psychiatric Adolescent Inpatient with Dermatologic Consultations (청소년 정신과 입원 환자들의 피부과 자문 의뢰에 관한 행태 분석 및 고찰)

  • Objective:To review the patterns of the dermatologic consultations of psychiatric adolescent inpatient and to explore the relationship between the dermatologic disorders and psychiatric disorders. Methods:We retrospectively studied the data from 22 cases referred by psychiatric adolescent for a dermatologic consultation over 10 years in Daegu Catholic University Medical Center and compared with the data from 108 cases referred by the other department adolescent patients. Results:The mean age of patients was 15.9. The male to female ratio was 1:1.44. The most common psychiatric and dermatologic disorder was major depressive disorder and acne, respectively. The most frequent reason for consultation was to ask for dermatologic disease or condition(54.5%) followed by to perform cosmetic procedure of patients need(40.9%) and to perform dermatologic test(4.6%). Conclusions:More than just a cosmetic disfigurement, dermatologic disorders are associated with a variety of psychopathologic problems that can affect the patient. Increased understanding of biopsychosocial approaches and liaison among psychiatrists and dermatologists could be beneficial.

Past, Present, and Future of Psychosomatic Medicine in the Field of Korean Medical Education (한국 의학 교육에서 정신신체의학의 과거와 현재 그리고 미래)

  • There were several documents that might reflect the great concern on the education of psychosomatic medicine in medical school from the 1960s. But the hour of class and proportion of psychosomatic medicine have been quite small among the total lecture time of psychiatry. Notwithstanding the importance of biopsychosocial perspective in practice and research there have been no agreement on the goal and content of teaching psychosomatic medicine in the medical school curriculum. Consultation-liaison psychiatric activity in the hospital were currently under-developed and educational content and process were not systematic. We should have established the goal of psychosomatic education in the medical school that includes making doctor who could not only cure disease but also care the ill patients. And we should develop the curriculum that covers essential area of psychosomatic medicine and checking system to monitor the process of education. With the continuance of psychosomatic perspectives from medical school education to clinical subspecialty we can make progress in this field.

  • In order to create future-oriented special school facilities with a high-quality educational environment in response to various changes and demands of the times, it is necessary to break away from the existing uniform and formal framework to find appropriate special school space. This study was a basic research to construct an active detailed model of new and creative educational space that reflects the changes of future society and educational direction. In this study, we proposed a criteria based on case studies and expert advice, deviating away from the limitations and problems that existing special schools' educational space had. The direction of plan was presented based on the compilation of expert consultation and analysis of best practice facility survey across the nation. Based on the results of this study, it is intended to maximize the effectiveness of educational policies in the long term by preparing a specific facility model for the establishment of special school planning standards.

A Case Study and Consultation on Instructional Design Process for Integrated Science Lesson by Secondary Science Teachers - Focus on the Integrated Science Five-Step Instructional Design for Integrated Science Lesson - (중등과학교사의 통합과학 수업설계 과정에 대한 사례분석 및 컨설팅 -통합과학 5단계 수업계획서 설계를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze secondary science teachers' planning process for an integrated science lesson. For this study, relevant references were collected from various sources, including literatures, previous studies regarding integrated science education, and individual studies. Two teachers (one from middle school and the other from high school) participated and 'the five-step instructional design' was adopted from former studies in this subject. The teachers were asked to develop an instructional plan based on 'the design' provided. While the consultation provided a framework for an instructional plan, the teachers were asked to take a leading role in terms of selecting the chapter to be taught; analyzing the course structure; and making detailed teaching plans. In the course of consultations, discussions, records, and analysis were organized into a journal. Based on the journal, the aspects of the planning process, including difficulties and problems faced by teachers, were analyzed in-depth. From the study, it could be observed that both high school and middle school teachers face various difficulties in preparing for the integrated science lesson. Among other things, the teachers emphasized the difficulties in the stages of selecting the topic, collecting the relevant information, and restructuring and organizing the lecture contents.

THE ADDITIONAL POINT SYSTEM OF NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE FOR DENTAL TREATMENT IN PATIENTS WITH A SPECIAL HEALTH CARE NEED IN KOREA (한국의 장애인 환자 치과 진료를 위한 국민 건강 보험 가산제도의 종류 및 청구 현황)

  • In order to increase the accessibility of dental care for people with disabilities, National Health Insurance Service has implemented an additional point system of National Dental Insurance for dental treatment of patients with a special health care need (AID). The purpose of this study is to investigate the types and status of AID in Korea using data of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service from 2011 to 2017. The basic consultation fee is increased by 9.03 points (713 won) for brain disorder, intellectual disability, mental disability, or autistic disorder. From 2011 to 2015, the number of claims with a basic consultation fee increased from 90,456 to 141,179. Dental treatment and surgical treatment fee is increased by 100% of the defined insurance score for each of the 15 items. During the five years from 2012 to 2016, the number and amount of claims for each item increased steadily. Of the total claims for 5 years, endodontic treatment was highest, with 107,477 cases, followed by 51,641 cases of scaling. There are two types of dental safety observation fee, simple and complex. The simple safety observation fee is 10,370 won per day, and the complex safety observation fee is 20,750 won per day. Dental safety observation fees were charged 34 times in 2015, 14 times in 2016, and 41 times through May 2017. From 2011 to 2017, the number and amount of claims using AID for dental care for people with disabilities increased. However, considering that the number of registered dental users with disability was about 560,000 in 2016, the number of claims using AID is 1-20,000, which is less than 2% of registered dental users with disability. Therefore, it is necessary to expand dental services for people with disabilities including AID.

Enhancing Expertise as Math Academic Counselor : Self-study for Math Teacher (수학학습 상담 전문성 신장을 위한 자기연구)

  • This study focuses on enhancing expertise as a study advisor for mathematic teacher in field based on self-study method. By advising math study with students in school, the research was carried out 'process & content of mathematic study method advisement', 'process & content of the self-questioning by the math study adviser', and 'enhancing expertise as a math study counsellor by self-study method'. Overall process has been proceeded through preparation, experiment, result & analysis. Experiment has been done based on consultation modeling for academic high school which ran five times. During consultation, based on analysis & result, researcher has recorded 'self-questioning' report. This report is utilized for 'self-examination' for the researcher along the discussion with counselor for enhancing expertise as a study advisor. By above process, practitioner identifies each own's pros & cons as a mathematic study advisor and strengthens the skill while understanding the subject: student. by 'self-studying' method, advisor enhances its own expertise as a teacher with the achieving student and learns practical knowledge for a math study advisor.

Analysis of risk evaluation procedures and consideration of risk assessment issues of living modified organisms for agricultural use in Korea (농업용(사료용) 유전자변형생물체의 위해성심사 제도 분석 및 환경위해성평가 관련 쟁점에 대한 고찰)

  • Since the implementation of the Living Modified Organisms (LMOs) Act in 2008, approximately 10 million tons of genetically modified corn, soybean, potato, canola, and other crops have been imported into South Korea. The import approval procedures have been completed for approximately 191 cases that include seven crops. Of these, approximately 90 cases, excluding crossbreeds of approved LMOs, were reviewed via consultation risk evaluation in four areas: human health, crop culture, natural ecology, and marine fishery environment. LMO developers in South Korea, who are major stakeholders in the import of LMO crops produced overseas, have raised concerns regarding procedural inefficiency in consultation reviews and the need of excessive reviews that are unsuitable for food-feed processing purposes. These procedures reflect the perspective of consultation agencies that deviate from the nature of risk assessment and demand specific supplementary data that do not reflect familiarity and substantial equilibrium. Based on frequent instances of unintentional environmental release of LMO crops imported into Korea, the ministries responsible for consultation insist on a review that considers the climate and natural environment of Korea. In addition, the ministries mandate that their reviews reflect the expertise of competent ministries and are based on risk assessment principles and methods in accordance with international guidelines. In this regard, considering that traits introduced into LMO crops involving familiar agricultural crops have been considered safe for more than two decades, we have suggested reasonable alternatives to several risk assessment items for agricultural LMOs. These alternatives can mitigate conflicts of interest among key stakeholders within the scope of the current LMO regulations.

Design and Development of the Verbal Interaction Analysis Program for Supporting Teaching Consultation (수업컨설팅 지원을 위한 수업언어 분석 프로그램 설계 및 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop verbal interaction analysis program for supporting teaching consultation. For this a class language analysis program was developed to manage analysis results systematically in various angles. The program has following characteristics. First, program users can create the frame of analysis tool freely, so he can analysis a class as a desired. Second, qualitative analysis results as well as quantitative analysis results can be acquired. Third, personalized analysis is available, as users can set program environments freely such as analysis unit time, video player environments, and input and output file type. Finally, it can record and manage activity results according to class consulting procedures systematically. It is expected that this program will allow class consulting to be in place in school fields in more professional way.

The Research on Pedagogical Content Knowledge(PCK) Focused on Instructional Consulting for Secondary Beginning Teachers (학습자 이해에 관한 초임교사의 수학 수업사례 분석)

  • Recently there has been a high request for support for teachers' professional development and quality control to meet the demand of educational policy to introduce teacher evaluation, master teacher status, incentives for teacher competency, etc. It has been suggested that reeducation and support for professional development would be more effective to beginning teachers with a high developmental potential than to experienced teachers with routinized instruction. Since 2005, KICE-TLC has conducted research on the development of teacher supporting programs such as teaching consultation and pedagogical content knowledge(PCK) in school subjects. In line with the current education policy and previous research by KICE, this research has been conducted to meet the need for novice teacher induction by developing consulting program focused on PCK. The goal of this research was to (1) explore the in-depth meaning of PCK in light of teaching consultation, (2) conduct a preliminary study on how to develop teaching consulting programs for secondary beginning teachers, (3) develop teaching consulting programs focused on pedagogical content knowledge(PCK), and (4) suggest implications for educational policy regarding pre-service and in-service teachers' continuing professional development and support.
