  • Reading education in elementary school is being performed without connection between the curriculums and is searching for a diversified method of reading education. There are other problems in reading education such as absence of several reading education programs lack of experts with field experiences and difficulties in practicing a continuous reading education due to the emotional and disconnection between school and home. We designed a web-based reading education support system as a supplement for the reading education in which an electronic library and information about each reading-related activity can be shared. This reading education support system based on internet can connect reading education to the students everyday life. The electronic library can activate reading education by providing book management, a bulletin about the impression of a book and the information on recommended books. In addition, this electronic library can develop various reading education programs and can strengthen the relationship between school and home. This system also can make knowledge and information related activities after reading books be commonly available to all schools through the realization module, according to school and class. Therefore, various material related to reading education can be shared and statistical works are possible with the system we developed in this study.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of school library services on fostering students' core competencies. In doing the research, web survey has been conducted and the data of 211 high school students were analyzed. First, the high school students' awareness of school library service facilitation is ranked 3.72 out of 5 point. High school student users' self efficacy is examined toward six core competencies of "2015 Revised Curriculum". The point of communication skills turns out to be 4.07 which is relatively high, and that of creative thinking skills is 3.66, which is relatively low. The analysis of correlations between awareness of school library service facilitations and core competency skills and self efficacy shows quantitatively meaningful correlations in all six competency areas. Based on the consequences of the study, the foundation will be established on the orientation of school library service and the acceleration of practice of competency-based education.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze user perceptions through a survey on the actual status, preference, and importance of high school students' use of school library spaces in C-city, and then to suggest a direction for efficiently constructing school library spaces necessary for future education. Seven high schools, which are evaluated as having excellent space composition and staffed by the school library. Based on the results of the survey on users' perceptions of the school library's use and the direction of space composition, the government first selected 1) locations that are easy for students to access, 2) securing high-quality materials and equipment to support curriculum and learning when constructing materials, reading spaces, and teaching and learning spaces, 3) fully considering the role of the school library and the needs of users when constructing and deploying spaces, and 4) making efforts to construct spaces that reflect technological skills and equipment based on the impact of future environments and new technologies.

  • This paper examined the information literacy which is the concrete purpose of the ICT using education which appeared in order to elevate the effects of education in school after the introduction of the 7th educational curriculum. Based on TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) that provides useful theoretical foundations for analyzing the factors influencing acceptance and diffusion of IT, it determined the factors influencing the process of accepting the information literacy instruction as follows: perceived usefulness; perceived ease of use; attitude; effects of the information literacy instruction; teachers' innovation; school library relevance; school librarians' support; and the self-efficacy. This paper confirmed the influences of these factors on the process of accepting the information literacy through empirical study. Through this study, it intended to suggest the ways to activate of the information literacy instruction.

  • This study aims to develop a comprehensive technological framework anchored in a theoretical model to assess user satisfaction with university library websites (ULWs) in Myanmar. Adopting a quantitative approach, data were obtained via convenience sampling and subsequent inferential analysis. The target population for this study investigated users of various ULWs in Myanmar who were utilizing six university libraries. Of the collected responses, 273 valid surveys were analyzed using SPSS (version 25) and AMOS. Tools such as structural equation modeling and confirmatory factor analysis played pivotal roles in data interpretation and hypothesis validation. The proposed model highlights the significance of information quality, system quality, and librarian services in influencing both perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU), culminating in user satisfaction. Notably, information quality and librarian services primarily impact PU, while system quality is more influential on PEOU. Interestingly, while PU has a direct bearing on user satisfaction, PEOU does not. Moreover, demographic elements such as age, gender, and education level introduce considerable differences in the utilization of ULW services. Drawing from the study's findings, recommendations are made for ULW managers in Myanmar to bolster services, aligning with user preferences. The resulting framework offers tangible benefits to Myanmar's educational sector, including academia, government entities, librarians, and policy framers. This pioneering research delves into the realm of ULWs in Myanmar's higher education sector. Practically, the research underscores the necessity for stakeholders, encompassing Myanmar's library experts and governing bodies, to elevate the standard of ULWs. Theoretically, a salient takeaway is the direct linkage between heightened usefulness and increased user satisfaction.

  • The libraries that existed during the latter period of the Yi Dynasty may be categorized into four types: the royal library, the school library, the clan community library, and the private library. Of these, the clan community library has yet received very little attention in the study of Korean libraries. In this study the author discusses the purposes, functions, and collections of the clan community library to clarify what that particular type of old libraries in Korea was. The clan community library functioned within individual clan communities to give young people Korean traditional education protecting them from possible influences of. Japanese version of Western scholarship which had threatened the traditional value systems of the society. The author believes that the clan community library was a unique community institution created by Korean people, and the Korean public library movement should trace its origin back to the activities of the libraries. Unfortunately the growing suppression and control of the Japanse colonial regime upon the traditional schools made the purposes and development of the clan community library movement a tragic experience before its flowering. The clan community library was a Korean native public library which came out in response to a historical situation and community need. It may deserve more attention in future study of the national library movement of Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the developmental process of University-based librarianship education in Japan from a historical perspective by analyzing literature. The results show that America's librarianship education policy historically focused on the establishment of a new model of librarianship education whereas Japan's policy was to keep the one from the Second World War. In 1951, an American model of education was established at Keio University by the contract between U.S. Department of the Army and American Library Association in America, but it did not continue to develop as mainstream model. The American model of librarianship education was not successful in Japan. It is expected that this study concerning Japanese librarianship education which adopted by the American model at the first time after the war in Asia will give vision for further studies in the domain of library history.
