A Multi-Dimensional Radio Resource Scheduling Scheme for MIMO-OFDM Wireless Systems

  • Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technologies provide additional dimensions of freedom with spectral and spatial resources for radio resource management. Multi-dimensional radio resource management has recently been identified to exploit the full dimensions of freedom for more flexible and efficient utilization of scarce radio spectrum while provide diverse quality of service (QoS) guarantees. In this work, a multi-dimensional radio resource scheduling scheme is proposed to achieve above goals in hybrid orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and space division multiple access (SDMA) systems. Cochannel interference (CCI) introduced by frequency reuse under SDMA is eliminated by frequency division and time division between highly interfered users. This scheme maximizes system throughput subjected to the minimum data rate guarantee. for heterogeneous users and transmit power constraint. By numerical examples, system throughput and fairness superiority of the our scheduling scheme are verified.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive pricing system with scheduling to balance the demand for contents and to realize an effective use of resources in contents delivery networks. In the proposed adaptive pricing system, the table of the service levels and prices (tariff) is shown to each user at the start of service and each user chooses one of the service classes. These prices are decided adaptively reflecting the congestion state of the networks. Then, by the proposed scheduling algorithm, these requests are scheduled so as to keep the service level agreements completely.

  • The problem of scheduling n jobs on a single machine is considered when the machine is subject to stochastic breakdowns. The objective is to minimize the weighted squared deviation of job completion times from a common due date. Two versions of the problem are addressed. In the first one the common due date is a given constant, whereas in the second one the common due date is a decision variable. In each case, a general form of deterministic equivalent of the stochastic scheduling problem is obtained when the counting process N(t) related to the machine uptimes is a Poisson process. It is proved that an optimal schedule must be V-shaped in terms of weighted processing time when the agreeable weight condition is satisfied. Based on the V-shape property, two dynamic programming algorithms are proposed to solve both versions of the problem.

  • This paper describes the method decide to optimal sizing and operation scheduling of total cogeneration system which is interconnected with cogeneration unit of utility and auxiliary thermal devices of heating company. Optimal sizing and operation scheduling is established in order to minimize the fuel cost under national viewpoint. Simulations are carried out to show the reliability of method suggested by seasons and kinds. The simulated results can be effectively used as the guideline of operation scheduling between the utility and the heating company.

  • The objective of this paper is to propose a heuristic algorithm to optimize the railway track maintenance scheduling, a NP-hard problem, by reflecting conditions of the actual field more quickly and easily. We develop the mechanism based on Binary Artificial Bee Colony (BABC) and Binary Harmony Search (BHS), and verify their performance through simulation experiments. Our proposed BABC and BHS mechanisms were applied to problems composed of 30, 60, 100, and 200 operations for railway track maintenance scheduling to carry out experiments and analysis. On comparing it with the results solved by CPLEX, it is found that the mechanism could present an optimal solution within limited time by user.

  • In this paper, we study some problems of the scheduling on the fixed area in a shipbuilding. The scheduling, constrainted a working area, is not easy to make a load balance and to operate a change of daily work plan. we proposed a block arrangement algorithm to make the load balance and developed a system used to operate the change of daily work plan.

  • This paper presents a new generating unit maintenance scheduling algorithm considering regional reserve margin and transfer capability. Existing researches focused on reliability of the overall power systems have some problems that adequate reliability criteria cannot be guaranteed in supply shortage regions. Therefore specific constraints which can treat regional reserve ratio have to be added to conventional approaches. The objective function considered in this paper is the variance (second-order momentum) of operating reserve margin to levelize reliability during a planning horizon. This paper focuses on significances of considering regional reliability criteria and an advanced hybrid optimization method based on PSO algorithm. The proposed method has been applied to IEEE reliability test system(1996) with 32-generators and a real-world large scale power system with 291 generators. The results are compared with those of the classical central maintenance scheduling approaches and conventional PSO algorithm to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm proposed in this paper.

  • In this paper, we proposed a novel user-level scheduling scheme that monitors applications characteristics on-line using PMU and allocates applications into cpu cores. We utilize PMU (Performance Monitoring Unit) to analyze which shared resource has the strongest relation with the influence. Using the proposed scheduling method, it is possible to reduce the contention of shared resources. The key idea of this scheme is separating high-influential applications into different processors. The evaluation results have shown that the proposed scheduling scheme can enhance the performance up to 12% for a 8 core system and up to 25% for a 28 core system, respectively.

  • This study is concerned with the scheduling problems in flexible manufacturing systems(FMSs). The scheduling problem in FMSs is a complex one when the number of machines and jobs are increased. Thus, a heuristic method is recommended in order to gain near-optimal solutions in a practically acceptable time. The purpose of this study is to develope a machine and AGV dispatching algorithm. The proposed dispatching algorithm is a on-line scheduling algorithm considering the due date of parts and the status of the system in the scheduling process. In the new machine and AGV dispatching algorithm, a job priority is determined by LPT/LQS rules considering job tardiness. The proposed heuristic dispatching algorithm is evaluated by comparison with the existing dispatching rules such as LPT/LQS, SPT/LQS, EDD/LQS and MOD/LQS. The new dispatching algorithm is predominant to existing dispatching rules in 100 cases out of 100 for the mean tardiness and 89 cases out of 100 for the number of tardy jobs.

  • The maintenance of generating units is implicitly related with power system reliability and has a tremendous bearing on the operation of the power system. A technique using a fuzzy search method which is based on fuzzy multi-criteria function has been proposed for GMS (generator maintenance scheduling) in order to consider multi-objective function. In this study, a new technique using combined fuzzy set theory and genetic algorithm(GA) is proposed for generator maintenance scheduling. The genetic algorithm(GA) is expected to make up for that fuzzy search method might search the local solution. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by the simulation results on a practical size test systems.
