This paper presents an analytical investigation for a baseline-free imaging of a defect in plate-like structures using the time-reversal of Lamb waves. We first consider the flexural wave (A0 mode) propagation in a plate containing a defect, and reception and time reversal process of the output signal at the receiver. The received output signal is then composed of two parts: a directly propagated wave and a scattered wave from the defect. The time reversal of these waves recovers the original input signal, and produces two additional side bands that contain the time-of-flight information on the defect location. One of the side band signals is then extracted as a pure defect signal. A defect localization image is then constructed from a beamforming technique based on the time-frequency analysis of the side band signal for each transducer pair in a network of sensors. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme enables the accurate, baseline-free detection of a defect, so that experimental studies are needed to verify the proposed method and to be applied to real structure.
This paper describes the development, operations, and applications of ROCSAT-l and its Ocean Color Imager (OCI) remote-sensing payload. It is the first satellite program of NSPO. The satellite was successfully launched by Lockheed Martin's Athena on January 26, 1999 from Cape Canaveral, Florida. ROCSAT-l is a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) experimental satellite. Its circular orbit has an altitude of 600km and an inclination angle of 35 degrees. The satellite is designed to carry out scientific research missions, including ocean color imaging, experiments on ionospheric plasma and electrodynamics, and experiments using Ka-band (20∼30GHz) communication payloads. The OCI payload is utilized to observe the ocean color in 7 bands (including one redundant band) of Visible and Near-Infrared (434nm∼889nm) range with the resolution of 800m at nadir and the swath of 702km. It employs high performance telecentric optics, push-broom scanning method using Charge Coupled Devices (CCD) and large-scale integrated circuit chips. The water leaving radiance is estimated from the total inputs to the OCI, including the atmospheric scattering. The post-process estimates the water leaving radiance and generates different end products. The OCI has taken images since February 1999 after completing the early orbit checkout. Analyses have been performed to evaluate the performances of the instrument in orbit and to compare them with the pre-launch test results. This paper also briefly describes the ROCSAT-l mission operations. The spacecraft operating modes and ROCSAT Ground Segment operations are delineated, and the overall initial operations of ROCSAT-l are summarized.

In addition to non-meteorological echoes, meteorological echoes with large scattering effects, such as precipitation, cause errors in wind data measured by wind profiler. In the rainfall situation, the Doppler spectrum of wind profiler shows both the rainfall signal and the atmospheric signal as two peaks. The vertical radial velocity is very large due to the falling rain drop. The radial velocity contaminated by rainfall decreases the accuracy of the horizontal wind vector and leads to inaccurate weather analysis. In this study, we developed an algorithm to process raw data of wind profiler and distinguished rainfall signal and wind signal by partitioning bimodal peak for Doppler spectrum in rainfall environment.
In this study, the fabrication of through-silicon vias (TSVs) filled with SWNTs/Sn by utilizing surface/bulk micromachining and MEMS technologies is proposed. Tin (Sn) and single-walled nanotube (SWNT) powders are used as TSV interconnector materials in the development of a novel TSV at low temperature. The measured resistance of a TSV filled with SWNT/Sn powder is considerably reduced by increasing the fraction of Sn and is lower than that of a TSV filled with only Sn. This is because of a decrease in the surface scattering of electrons along with an increase in the grain size of sintered SWNTs/Sn. The proposed method is conducted at low temperatures (< $400^{\circ}C$) due to the low melting temperature of Sn; hence, the proposed TSVs filled with SWNTs/Sn can be utilized in CMOS based applications.
SnSe single crystal showed a high thermoelectric zT of 2.6 at 923 K mainly due to an extremely low thermal conductivity $0.23W\;m^{-1}\;K^{-1}$. It has anisotropic crystal structure resulting in deterioration of thermoelectric performance in polycrystalline SnSe, providing a low zT of 0.6 and 0.8 for Ag and Na-doped SnSe, respectively. Here, we presented the thermoelectric properties on the K-doped $K_xSn_{1-x}Se$ (x = 0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 1.5, and 2.0%) polycrystals, synthesized by a high-temperature melting and hot-press sintering with annealing process. The K-doping in SnSe efficiently enhances the hole carrier concentration without significant degradation of carrier mobility. We find that there exist widespread Se-rich precipitates, inducing strong phonon scattering and thus resulting in a very low thermal conductivity. Due to low thermal conductivity and moderate power factor, the $K_{0.001}Sn_{0.999}Se$ sample shows an exceptionally high zT of 1.11 at 823 K which is significantly enhanced value in polycrystalline compounds.
Scattering resonance of medium mass nuclides leads complex spectrum in the fast reactor, which requires thousands of energy groups in the spectrum calculation. When the broad-group cross sections are collapsed, reaction rate cannot be completely conserved. To eliminate the error from energy collapsing, the Super-homogenization method in energy collapsing (ESPH) was employed in the fast reactor code SARAX. An ESPH factor was derived based on the ESPH-corrected SN transport equation. By applying the factor in problems with reflective boundary condition, both the effective multiplication factor and reaction rate were conserved. The fixed-source iteration was used to ensure the stability of ESPH iteration. However, in the energy collapsing process of SARAX, the vacuum boundary condition was adopted, which was necessary for fast reactors with strong heterogeneity. To further reduce the error caused by leakage, an additional conservation factor was proposed to correct the neutron current in energy collapsing. To evaluate the performance of ESPH with conservation factor, numerical benchmarks of fast reactors were calculated. The results of broad-group calculation agreed well with the direct full-core Monte-Carlo calculation, including the effective multiplication factor, radial power distribution, total control rod worth and sodium void worth.
Exploring the vicinity of super-massive black holes (SMBHs) is one of the frontiers in astrophysics. KaVA AGN Science WG has launched its Large Program in 2014 focusing on two SMBHs, Sgr A∗ and M87. They are selected based on their large apparent size. Sgr A∗ is the excellent laboratory for studying gas accretion process onto SMBH and M87 is well known as the best case for investigating plasma outflow ultimately driven by SMBH. For Sgr A∗, KaVA and EAVN provides superb UV-coverage on its emitting region and its scattering medium. In the case of M87, we have conducted high cadence dual-frequency (22and 43GHz )VLBI monitoring to clarify the global profile of the M87 jet velocity field and the spectral index map, which should reflect global structure of magnetic fields in the jet. From 2017, the AGN LP is recognized as multi-wavelength EHT project, conducting quasi-simultaneous coherent observations of M87 and Sgr A∗ with the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) during its campaign observation periods. AGN WG is reviewing and revising its LP to convert it to EAVN LP. We will briefly report our scientific results and future plan which includes even broader international collaboration, namely East-Asia to Italy Nearly Global (EATING) VLBI to reach higher angular resolution.

A simple and accurate assay was developed for the quantitative analysis of 1-deoxynojirimycin (1-DNJ) derived from the silkworm (Bombyx mori). Normal-phase high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with an evaporative light scattering detector (HPLC-ELSD) and a hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography column was used. Various parameters were applied to optimize the analysis method. The limits of detection and quantification of 1-DNJ were 2.97 × 10-3 and 9.00 × 10-3 mg/mL, respectively. The calibration curve showed good linearity results. The concentration range and the r2 value were 0.0625-1.0 mg/mL and 0.9997, respectively. The accuracy test demonstrated a significantly high recovery rate (89.95-103.22%). The relative standard deviation was ≤ 1.00%. Thus, a method for the accurate identification and quantitative analysis of 1-DNJ in silkworms was developed. Moreover, in this procedure, the process of derivatization of 1-DNJ, which was required in previous experiments, could be eliminated. This technique may be actively utilized for the development of pharmaceuticals and health functional foods using 1-DNJ.

The application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has recently attracted considerable interest in various areas. A three-dimensional multiple-input multiple-output concentric two-hemisphere model is proposed to characterize the scattering environment around a vehicle in an urban UAV-to-vehicle communication scenario. Multipath components of the model consisted of lineof-sight and single-bounced components. This study focused on the key parameters that determine the scatterer distribution. A time-variant process was used to analyze the nonstationarity of the proposed model. Vital statistical properties, such as the space-time-frequency correlation function, Doppler power spectral density, level-crossing rate, average fade duration, and channel capacity, were derived and analyzed. The results indicated that with an increase in the maximum scatter radius, the time correlation and level-crossing rate decreased, the frequency correlation function had a faster downward trend, and average fade duration increased. In addition, with the increase of concentration parameter, the time correlation, space correlation, and level-crossing rate increased, average fade duration decreased, and Doppler power spectral density became flatter. The proposed model was compared with current geometry-based stochastic models (GBSMs) and showed good consistency. In addition, we verified the nonstationarity in the temporal and spatial domains of the proposed model. These conclusions can be used as references in the design of more reasonable communication systems.

This article provides an overview of Raman spectroscopy and its practical applications for surface analysis of semiconductor processes including real-time monitoring. Raman spectroscopy is a technique that uses the inelastic scattering of light to provide information on molecular structure and vibrations. Since its inception in 1928, Raman spectroscopy has undergone continuous development, and with the advent of SERS(Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy), TERS(Tip Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy), and confocal Raman spectroscopy, it has proven to be highly advantageous in nano-scale analysis due to its high resolution, high sensitivity, and non-destructive nature. In the field of semiconductor processing, Raman spectroscopy is particularly useful for substrate stress and interface characterization, quality analysis of thin films, elucidation of etching process mechanisms, and detection of residues.
