  • The real time autocorrelator has been developed in order to measure the pulse widths of ultrashort laser pulses using the SHG method. The scanning range of the autocorrelator is 142 ps, and inserting a delay block in one arm of the autocorrelator, the scanning range can be extended to 250 ps. The shortest pulse width was measured to be 20 ps, when the cavity length was well matched to the RF frequency of the mode-locker, and broadened to be 39 ps and 47 ps as the cavity length was detuned.

  • In this paper, we propose a measurement method for height of white light scanning interferometer using deep learning. In order to measure the fine surface shape, a three-dimensional surface shape measurement technique is required. A typical example is a white light scanning interferometer. In order to calculate the surface shape from the measurement image of the white light scanning interferometer, the height of each pixel must be calculated. In this paper, we propose a neural network for height calculation and use virtual data generation method to train this neural network. The accuracy was measured by inputting 57 actual data to the neural network which had completed the learning. We propose two new functions for accuracy measurement. We have analyzed the cases where there are many errors among the accuracy calculation values, and it is confirmed that there are many errors when there is no interference fringe or outside the learned range. We confirmed that the proposed neural network works correctly in most cases. We expect better results if we improve the way we generate learning data.

  • We investigate the evaluation items of LSU (Laser Scanning Unit), such as beam size, f$\theta$ characteristics, linearity, skew and bow, optical power ratio between image height of 0mm and $\pm$108 mm, pitch error, Jitter and shift of printing position. Through the measurement of LSU using BSH (Beam Scan Head) installed on LMC (Linear Motion Controller) which moves linearly within the whole scanning range (-108 mm~+108 mm), we can ascertain plastic f$\theta$ lenses, which are manufactured by TVLP (Two-step Variable Low Pressure) molding method, to satisfy 600DPI(Dots Per Inch) performance.

  • RFID yoking proof proves that a pair of tags is scanned at the same time. Since the tags scanned simultaneously by a single reader are adjacent to each other, the yoking proof is used in applications that need to check the physical proximity of tagged objects. Most of the yoking proof schemes require pre-knowledge on adjacent tags. If an error occurs in the process of collecting information about adjacent tags, all subsequent proofs will fail verification. However, there is no research that suggests specific methods for obtaining information about adjacent tags. In this study, I propose a tag proximity information acquisition scheme for a yoking proof. The proposed method consists of two steps: scanning area determination and scanning area verification. In the first step, the size and position of the area to scan tags is determined in consideration of position and transmission range of the tags. In the next step, whether tag scanning is performed within the scanning area or not is verified through reference tags of the fixed position. In analysis, I show that the determined scanning area assures acquisition of adjacent tag information and the scanning area verification detects deformation and deviation of the scanning area.

  • In this study, a new process, named as nano replication printing(nRP) process, is developed for printing any figure in the range of several micrometers by using voxel matrix scanning scheme. In this newly developed process, a femto-second laser is scanned on a photosensitive monomer resin in order to induce polymerization of the liquid resin according to a voxel matrix which is transformed from bitmap format file. After the polymerization, a droplet of ethanol is dropt to remove the unnecessary remaining liquid resin and then the polymerized figures with nano-scaled precision are only remaining on the glass plate. By the nRP process, any figure file of bitmap format could be reproduced as nano-scaled precision replication in the range of several micrometers. Also, nano/micro-scaled patterns for an extremely wide range of applications would become a technologically feasible reality. Some of figures with nano-scaled precision were printed in scaled replication as examples to prove the usefulness of this study.

  • Microstereolithography technology is similar to the conventional stereolithography process and enables to fabricate a complex 3D microstructure. This is divided into scanning and projection type according to aiming at precision and fabrication speed. The scanning MSL fabricates each layer using position control of laser spot on the resin surface, whereas the projection MSL fabricates one layer with one exposure using a mask. In the projection MSL, DMD used to generate dynamic pattern consists of $1024{\times}768$ micromirrors which have $13.68{\mu}m$ per side. The fabrication range and resolution are determined by the field of view of the DMD and the magnification of the projection lens. If using the projection lens with high power, very fine microstructures can be fabricated. In this paper, the projection MSL system adapted to a large surface for array-type fabrication is presented. This system covers the meso range, which is defined as the intermediate range between micro and macro, with a resolution of a few ${\mu}m$. The fabrication of array-type microstructures has been demonstrated to verify the performance of implemented system.

  • Intrinsic viscosity and gelatinization properties of brown rice starches of Japonica and Tonsil type cultivars were investigated. The intrinsic viscosity was similar between the two cultivars. The gelatinization temperature of Japonica brown rice starch determined by differential scanning calorimetry was higher than that of Tonsil brown rice starch. However, the range of gelatinization temperature, gelatinization enthalpy and the water content for gelatinization were similar between the two starches. The treatment of starch at 6$0^{\circ}C$ for 24hr increased the gelatinization temperature and gelatinization enthalpy and decreased the range of geltinization temperature. The water content for gelatinization was negatively correlated with the range of gelatinization temperature in case of Japonica starch and with the intrinsic viscosity in case of Tonsil one. The in-trinsic viscosities of both Japonica and Tonsil starches were positively correlated with gelatinization enthalpy.

  • The vision sensor which is based on the optical triangulation theory with the laser as an auxiliary light source can detect not only the seam position but the shape of seam. In this study, a vision sensor using the scanning laser beam was investigated. To design the vision sensor which considers the reflectivity of the sensing object and satisfies the desired resolution and measuring range, the equation of the focused laser beam which has a Gaussian irradiance profile was firstly formulated, Secondly, the image formaing sequence, and thirdly the relation between the displacement in the measuring surface and the displacement in the camera plane was formulated. Therefore, the focused beam diameter in the measuring range could be determined and the influence of the relative location between the laser and camera plane could be estimated. The measuring range and the resolution of the vision sensor which was based on the Scheimpflug's condition could also be calculated. From the results mentioned above a vision sensor was developed, and an adequate calibration technique was proposed. The image processing algorithm which and recognize the center of joint and its shape informaitons was investigated. Using the developed vision sensor and image processing algorithm, the shape informations was investigated. Using the developed vision sensor and image processing algorithm, the shape informations of the vee-, butt- and lap joint were extracted.

  • To establish of standard technique of nano-length measurement in 2D plane, new AFM system has been designed. In the long range (about several tens of ${\mu}m$), measurement uncertainty is dominantly affected by the Abbe error of XY scanning stage. No linear stage is perfectly straight; in other words, every scanning stage is subject to tilting, pitch and yaw motion. In this paper, an AFM system with minimum offset of XY sensing is designed. And XY scanning stage is designed to minimize rotation angle because Abbe errors occur through the multiply of offset and rotation angle. To minimize the rotation angle optimal design has performed by maximizing the stiffness ratio of motion direction to the parasitic motion direction of each stage. This paper describes the design scheme of full AFM system, especially about XY stage. Full range of fabricated XY scanner is $100{\mu}m\times100{\mu}m$. And tilting, pitch and yaw motion are measured by autocollimator to evaluate the performance of XY stage. As a result, XY scanner can have good performance. Using this AFM system, 3um pitch specimen was measured. The uncertainty of total system has been evaluated. X and Y direction performance is different. X-direction measuring performance is better. So to evaluate only ID pitch length, X-direction scanning is preferable. Its expanded uncertainty(k=2) is $\sqrt{(3.96)^2+(4.10\times10^{-5}{\times}p)^2}$ measured length in nm.

  • Cure shrinkage during cure process of polymer matrix composites develope residual stress that cause some structural deformation, such as spring-in, spring-out and warpage. The carbon/epoxy prepreg used in this study is Hexply M21EV/34%/UD268NFS/IMA-12K supplied by Hexcel corp. Cure shrinkage and degree of cure measured by TMA(thermomechanical analyzer) and DSC(differential scanning calorimetry). Cure shrinkages are measured by TMA within a temperature range of $140{\sim}240^{\circ}C$ in a nitrogen atmosphere, and degree of cure determined by the heat of reaction using dynamic and isothermal DSC runs in argon atmosphere. As a result, the cure shrinkage is increased dramatically in a degree of cure range between 27~80%. the higher the cure temperature, the lower the degree of cure occurring to begin cure shrinkage.
