  • There is a well-defined propagation model, named the random constant spread (RCS) model, which explains worms that spread their clones with a random scanning strategy. This model uses the number of infected hosts in a domain as a factor in the worms' propagation. However, there are difficulties in explaining the characteristics of new Internet worms because they have several considerable new features: the denial of service by network saturation, the utilization of a faster scanning strategy, a smaller size in the worm's propagation packet, and to cause maximum damage before human-mediated responses are possible. Therefore, more effective factors are required instead of the number of infected hosts. In this paper, the network bandwidth usage rate is found to be an effective factor that explains the propagations of the new Internet worms with the random scanning strategy. The analysis and simulation results are presented using this factor. The simulation results show that the scan rate is more sensitive than the propagation packet for detecting worms' propagations.

  • A novel 3D tube scanning technique is proposed. The proposed tube scanning technique is developed for a special tube inspection module which consists of four line-lasers and one camera. Using the scanning module, we can reconstruct the 360 degree shapes of the inner surfaces of a cylindrical tube. From an image frame captured by the camera, we reconstruct a partial tube model based on four laser triangulations. Then by aligning such partial models with respect to a reference tube axis, a complete 3D shape of the tube is reconstructed. The tube axis in each reconstructed frame is aligned with a 3D Euclidean transformation to the reference axis. Several experiments show that the proposed method can align multiple tube axes very accurately and reconstruct 3D shapes of a tube with very low shape distortion.

  • This paper presents the position tracking control of a laser scanning mirror system in which piezoelectic actuator is incorporated. Using the shear mode of the piezoelectric actuator, angular oscillation of a laser scanning mirror is derived. Torsion bar is rhen designed and attached to the piezoelctric actuator in order to magnify the amplitude generated by the actuator. Finite element modeling and analysis are essntial for designing the piezoelectic actuator. The torsional resonance mode of the piezoelectric actuator is found from the model analysis of the actuator and the mechanical shear is matched with the driving frequency. Transfer function between the electrical excitation and the mechanical shear deformation at resonance frequency is found form the response of the actuator calculated by the finite element analysis and the governing equation of the system is derived from d'Alembert's principle. Tracking control performance for desired trajectory which is, in fact, sinusoidal curve is presented in order to demonstrate the validity of the proposed system.

  • For a quick and accurate 3D modelling of a building, laser scanning data, digital maps, aerial photographs and satellite images should be fusioned. Moreover, library establishment according to a standard structure of a building and effective texturing method are required in order to determine the structure of a building. In this study, we made a standard library by categorizing Korean village forms and presented a model that can predict a structure of a building from a shape of the roof on an aerial photo image. We made an ortho image using the high-definition digital image and considerable amount of ground scanning point cloud and mapped this image. These methods enabled a more quick and accurate building modelling.

  • The magnetic flux profiles in SmBCO and YBCO coated conductors(CC) in the presence of the external field were comparatively investigated by magneto-optic image and scanning hall probe measurements. The current distributions calculated by using the inversion method from measured field profiles show that the decrease of current densities near the edges of SmBCO CC is more significant than those of YBCO CC. Through the comparison of the numerical analysis based on Kim's critical state model and the Brandt and Indenbom's solution, we found that this feature is related to their different field dependant properties of the critical current densities.

  • Reverse Engineering has wasted high cost and much of time because there were few softwares for supporting post-process of 3D scanning efficiently. However today Reverse Engineering is attracted by various researchers on a count of its practical use and gradually improved quality. Accordingly, many industries induce the technology of Reverse Engineering. For keeping with this general trend, the algorithms of generating meshes from 3D scanning data and visualizing their cross section are suggested in this research. It is expected that output data from the algorithms can be used in inspecting errors between product designs and their final products, and in finding a way to improve quality by considering ideal model data.

  • Despite much works have been done on the geometric structures of ripples, defects and edge atoms in a graphene device, there has been no report showing the direct correlation between the structures and the transport property. Unlike scanning tunneling microscopy or other electron microscopes, Scanning Gate Microscope (SGM) is a unique microscopic tool with which the local electronic structure and the transport property of a device can be measured simultaneously. We have performed a transport measurement in nanometer scale using a scanning gate microscope (SGM). We have found the nanoscopic pictures of electron and hole puddles and the role of graphene- device edges in the transport measurements. These experimental findings were successfully explained with a theoretical model.

  • The two-photon process of microscopy provides good spatial resolution and optical sectioning ability when observing quasi-static endogenous fluorescent tissue within an in vivo animal model skin. In order to extend the use of such systems, we developed a two-photon laser scanning microscopy system capable of also capturing $512{\times}512$ pixel images at 90 frames per second. This was made possible by incorporating a 72 facet polygon mirror which was mounted on a 55 kRPM motor to enhance the fast-scan axis speed in the horizontal direction. Using the enhanced temporal resolution of our high-speed two-photon laser scanning microscope, we show that rapid processes, such as fluorescently labeled erythrocytes moving in mouse blood flow at up to 1.2 mm/s, can be achieved.
