  • The effects of temperature and light intensity on the photosynthesis were investigated in fronds and cultivated filaments of Porphyra pseudolinearis Ueda. The optimum temperatures for total photosynthesis of fronds and filaments were $25\~30^{\circ}C\;and\;20^{\circ}C$, respectively. The photosynthetic rates of fronds and filaments based on light intensity were shown in a typical light saturation curve where the rates were constant over the light intensity of approximately 10,000 lux. The compensation points were 2,100 lux in fronds and 900 lux in filaments. The photosynthetic rate of filaments was 5 to 10 times greater than that of fronds. This would be very advantageous for filaments to conduct photosynthesis in the condition of dim light.

  • Color pictures on CPT are generally affected by the receiver characteristic and the condition of exterior illuminants. Moreover, readjustment of incorrect color in the CPT causes color distortion on a given picture. This paper describes a color adjustment method for modelling of CPT at the view point of observer in the ordinary lighting condition. To develop this method, we proposed ways of luminance recompensation under the gamma transformation for the intensity of illuminant, hue/saturation compensation for the types of illuminant and control of specific color for the reference. Based on these method, a color correlation system is suggested with the goal of reducing the color errors which are represented due to the influence of reflectance component of illuminants, the gamma transformation of CPT and the frequently adjustment of reference scene to set a optimum color.

  • Current differential relays may maloperate during magnetic inrush and over-excitation because a significant differential current is produced. To prevent maloperation, the relays adopt some harmonic components included in the differential current. The harmonic restraints may increase the security of a relay but cause the operating time delay of a relay when an internal fault occurs. Moreover, the operating time delay is more increased if a current transformer (CT) is saturated. This paper describes a current differential relaying algorithm for power transformer protection with a compensating algorithm for the secondary current of a CT. The comparative study was conducted with and without the compensating algorithm. The performance of the proposed algorithm was investigated when the measurement CT (C400) and the protection CT (C400) are used. The proposed algorithm can compensate the distorted current of a CT and thus reduce the operating time delay of the relay significantly for an internal fault with CT saturation.

  • In order to promote the application of switched reluctance machines (SRM) in electric vehicles (EVs), the braking torque closed-loop control of a SRM is proposed. A hysteresis current regulator with the soft chopping mode is employed to reduce the switching frequency and switching loss. A torque estimator is designed to estimate the braking torque online and to achieve braking torque feedback. A feed-forward plus saturation compensation torque regulator is designed to decrease the dynamic response time and to improve the steady-state accuracy of the braking torque. The turn-on and turn-off angles are optimized by a genetic algorithm (GA) to reduce the braking torque ripple and to improve the braking energy feedback efficiency. Finally, a simulation model and an experimental platform are built. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate the correctness of the proposed control strategy.

  • A complete current loop decoupling control strategy based on a sliding mode observer (SMO) is proposed to eliminate the influence of current dynamic coupling and back electromotive force (EMF) in the vector control of permanent magnet synchronous motors. With this strategy, current dynamic decoupling and back EMF compensation can be simultaneously achieved. Unlike conventional methods, the proposed strategy can avoid the disturbances caused by the parametric variations of motor systems and maintain the advantages of proportional integral (PI) controllers, which are robust and easy to operate. An improved SMO, which uses a special PI regulator other than a linear saturation function as the equivalent control law in the boundary layer of a sliding surface, is proposed to eliminate the estimated errors caused by the quasi-sliding mode and obtain a satisfactory decoupling performance. The stability and parameter robustness of the proposed strategy are also analyzed. Physical experimental results are presented to verify the validity of the method.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the net photosynthetic rate, stomatal transpiration, stomatal conductance, water use efficience, and intercellular $CO_2$ concentration in Allium ochotense leaves and Allium microdictyon leaves. The light compensation point was 4.2 ${\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ in Allium ochotense leaves and 5.2 ${\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ in Allium microdictyon leaves. The lght saturation point was approximately 800 ${\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ in between Allium ochotense leaves and Allium microdictyon leaves. The phtosynthetic rate of Allium ochotense leaves was higer than that of Allium microdictyon leaves. On the other hand, at more than $30^{\circ}C$, it appeared that the values of net photosynthetic rates of Allium microdictyon leaves were higher than that of Allium ochotense leaves. These results suggest that growth of those Allium ochotense plants are appropriate for relatively cool temperature site compared to Allium microdictyon plants.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the photosynthetic R. micranthum by natural habitats. In the results, natural habitats didn't affect values of light saturated point, light compensation point and photosynthetic capacity of R. micranthum. We investigated light response curve and chlorophyll content at each habitat. Light compensation points were 11.8 ${\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$, 11.5 ${\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ and 10.4 ${\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ in Seokpo-ri, Yeonha-ri, and Mt. Worak. Light saturation points showed that R. micranthum is shade tolerant specie which has the light saturation point approximately 500~600 ${\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$. Photosynthetic rates of R. micranthum leaves were 5.5 ${\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$, 5.4 ${\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ and 5.6 ${\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ in Seokpo-ri, Yeonha-ri and Mt. Worak. On the other hand, since between $20^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$, it appeared that the values of net photosynthetic rates of R. micranthum leaves in all sites were high. Especially, the rates were highest at $25^{\circ}C$. Because of low stomatal transpiration rate in saturation radiance, the moisture utilization efficiency in Yeonha-ri was lower than other habitats. Rates of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and total chlorophyll content in Mt. Worak were no significant difference. Therefore R. micranthum has characteristic of shade tolerant species. The moderate temperature for R. micranthum is between $20^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$.

  • This study was conducted to elucidate the photosynthetic response to the environment and establish optimum cultivation conditions for the Korean endemic plant, Aster koraiensis. Photosynthetic characteristics according to growth stage, light, CO2, and soil water potential were investigated. During the first year of transplanting, photosynthetic rates were drastically increased until June, after which they slowly declined, During the second year, photosynthetic rates declined throughout the entire growth period. The highest level of light compensation point was shown the early growth stage. Photosynthetic rates affected by intercellular CO2 concentration were maintained or decreased over the CO2 saturation point. The lowest CO2 compensation point was 16.1 μmol·mol−1 during March. The morphological changes of leaves were observed due to shading with chlorophyll contents increasing. Photosynthetic rates were higher at 0% and 50% shading treatments than at 75%. There were rarely any morphological changes of leaves due to soil moisture, however, changes to leaf compactness were observed. Photosynthetic rate, apparent quantum yield, and respiration rate increased, whereas water use efficiency decreased over −25 kPa of soil moisture.

  • This study is attempted to correct an error of electronic blood pressure meter with an optical sensor. In general, for a hospitalized patient, ECG, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiration are basically measured to monitor the patient's condition. Opening of a blood vessel after it is occluded by pressurizing the cuff influences the blood flow of peripheral blood vessels as well as oscillation changes in the cuff. Blood vessels are occluded and peripheral blood flow disappears at cuff pressure above the examinee's blood pressure, while blood vessels are opened and peripheral blood flow appears again at cuff pressure under the examinee's blood pressure. Then Disappear-Appear Point Length(DAPL) of peripheral blood flow can be judged with the signal of peripheral blood flow, thus is available as a factor of error correction for electronic blood pressure meter. Also, systolic or diastolic blood pressure can be corrected with Appear-Point-Pressure(APP) of cuff pressure at a point where blood flow occurs and Appear-Maximum Pressure(AMP) of cuff pressure at the maximum amplitude point of peripheral blood flow after peripheral blood flow appears again. For verification, 27 examinees were selected, and their blood value was obtained through experimental procedure of 4 stages including induction of blood pressure change. The examinees were divided into two groups of experimental group and control group, regression analysis was conducted for experimental group, and correction of a blood pressure error was verified with optical signal by applying the regression equation calculated in experimental group to control group. As an experimental result, mean of the whole measurement errors was 5mmHg or more, which did not meet the standard fur blood pressure meter. As a result of correcting blood pressure measurements with data of DAPL, APP, and AMP as drawn out of PPG signal, systolic blood pressure, mean blood pressure, and diastolic blood pressure were $-0.6{\pm}4.4mmHg,\;-1.0{\pm}3.9mmHg$ and $-1.3{\pm}5.4mmHg$, respectively, indicating that mean of the whole measurement errors was greatly improved, and standard deviation was decreased.

  • According to development of technology for media, observers try to watch the realities from images, as follows, 3D imaging has been extremely developed. 3D image gives depth in the image, observers feel in nature. Different image perception from left and right eyes make the 3D image. Anaglyph which is one of the ways to make an image of three dimensions is for obtaining an image of three dimensions by using color filter glasses. Anaglyph has a little amount of calculation and is easy to make, and it has a good point that anaglyph can be used in more wide field because it can create an image of three dimensions to the output of print like printed matter. However, the phenomenon of retinal rivalry can cause a feeling of fatigue because a difference of brightness of the left image and the right image happen. The way to reduce this problem is made by cutting down a difference of brightness. In the result, retinal rivalry can be reduced. We reduced a difference of the brightness of the left and the right image by utilizing the brightness and average of the original image to reduce retinal rivalry and we made better colors of anaglyph by using the way that we keep the hue caused by a change of brightness and supplement saturation about color distortion which is created at that time.
