Research on Oral Status of Hearing Impaired Youth by Using QLF-D (QLF-D를 이용한 청각장애 청소년의 구강상태에 관한 조사)

  • This study analyzed the oral status after recording the images by using QLF-D with targets of 38 youth people with hearing impairment and hearing language impairment. In order to investigate the state of oral hygiene, plaque index (O'Leary index) and contents of investigation of the state of the teeth included the number of sound teeth, the number of caries teeth, dental caries experience and the number of filling teeth. The following results were obtained. First, women lacked the management on plaque and had more caries teeth compared with men. In terms of impairment classification, subjects with both hearing and language impairment lacked the management on plaque and had more caries teeth. Second, subjects who did not get an oral exam for one year had more caries teeth. Oral hygiene score was the highest with the brushing time for 3-4 minutes. The number of sound teeth was increased as the brushing time was increased. In addition, the oral hygiene management time was the highest when cleaning the teeth, gums and tongue at the same time. Third, it was shown that the satisfaction of oral health education by using the new equipment was high. As a result of this study, in order to improve the oral health level of impaired students, they shall be trained to manage their teeth by themselves and educated to increase their motivation and practice. Thus, it is thought that various approaches which are differentiated from existing methods are required to be tried.

  • Personalized App recommendation system is recently famous since the number of various apps that can be used in smart phones that increases exponentially. However, the site users using google play site with malwares have experienced severe damages of privacy exposure and extortion as well as a simple damage of satisfaction descent at the same time. In addition, Sybil attack (Sybil) manipulating the score (rating) of each app with falmay also present because of the social networks development. Up until now, the sybil detection studies and malicious apps studies have been conducted independently. But it is important to determine finally the existence of intelligent attack with Sybil and malware simultaneously when we consider the intelligent attack types in real-time. Therefore, in this paper we experimentally evaluate the relationship between malware and sybils based on real cralwed dataset of goodlplay. Through the extensive evaluations, the correlation between malware and sybils is low for malware providers to hide themselves from Anti-Virus (AV).

  • Six sigma is the rating that signifies "best in clas", with only 3.4 defects per million units or operations. Higher sigma quality level is generally perceived by customers as improved performance by assigning a correspondingly higher satisfaction score. The process capability indices and the sigma level $Z_{st}$ have been widely used in six sigma industries to assess process performance. Most evaluations on process capability indices focus on point estimates, which may result in unreliable assessments of process performance. In this paper, we consider statistical inference for process capability indices $C_p$, $C_{pk}$ and $C_{pm}$. Also, we study better testing procedure on assessing sigma level $Z_{st}$ and capability index $C_{pm}$, for practitioners to use in determining whether a given process is capable. The proposed method is easy to use and the decision making is more reliable. Whether a process is clearly normal or nonnormal, our bootstrap testing procedure could be applied effectively without the complexity of calculation. A numerical result based on our proposed method is illustrated.

  • Higher quality level is generally perceived by customers as improved performance by assigning a correspondingly higher satisfaction score. Usually, the quality level is measured by process capability indices. The index is used to determine whether a production process is capable of producing items within a specified tolerance. The third generation index $C_{pmk}$ is more powerful than two useful indices $C_p$ and $C_{pk}$. which have been widely used in six sigma industries to assess process performance. Most evaluations on process capability indices focus on point estimates, which may result in unreliable assessments of process performance. In this paper, we consider better testing procedure on assessing process capability index $C_{pmk}$ for practitioners to use in determining whether a given process is capable. It is easy to use the proposed method for assessing process capability index $C_{pmk}$. Whether a process is clearly normal or nonnormal, our bootstrap testing procedure could be applied effectively without the complexity of calculation. Correction of Prominent Alar Lobule by Resecting Dilator Naris Muscles-A Pilot Study (콧구멍 확대근의 절제를 통한 넓은 콧방울의 교정-예비 보고)

  • Purpose: The authors have conducted a series of anatomic studies on the factors affecting shape of a lower vault in Asian noses. The results of the studies showed that prominence of alar lobule is mainly affected by the volumes of the dilator naris anterior and posterior muscles and the insertions of the dilator naris posterior muscles. However, information on its clinical availability is yet insufficient. The present study was undertaken for clinical purpose to find out the effect of dilator naris muscle resection on the correction of prominent alar lobule. Methods: Six patients who were treated by dilator naris muscle resection with a long-term follow-up of more than 1 year were involved in this study. Rhinoplasties were performed via endonasal approaches with resecting dilator naris anterior and posterior muscles by sharp scissor. The effect of the dilator naris muscle resection on alar prominence was investigated by measuring ratio of the short axis to the long axis of a nostril (SA/LA) pre-and postoperatively. The visual analog scale (VAS) was also used to evaluate satisfaction of patients. An average follow-up time was $15.6{\pm}3.7$ months. Results: Having lost the dilating and lateral pulling effects of the dilator naris muscles, the alar lobule shifted medially and alar lobule shapes improved. SA/LA significantly improved (preoperatively $0.71{\pm}0.11$ and postoperatively $0.58{\pm}0.08$; $p$ <0.05). The VAS score was also increased postoperatively (preoperatively $3.2{\pm}1.8$ and postoperatively $8.7{\pm}1.2$; $p$ <0.05). A mild degree of hyperpigmented scar was noted in one alar lobule. Otherwise, there was no case of postoperative complication. Conclusion: Our results suggest that prominent alar lobule could be modified by resecting the attachment of the dilator naris muscles. This maneuver removes the function of dilator naris muscles, then may produce a more aesthetically acceptable alar lobule shape.

Practical Evaluation of Intellectual Capital (IC) Measurement Tool for Contract Foodservice Management Company (위탁급식전문업체 지적자본 측정도구의 운용시험 평가)

  • The purposes of this study were to a) measure the IC identified of CFMC (contract foodservice management company) ,b) examine IC circumstance of CFMC, c) evaluate practically IC measurement tool of CFMC, and d) present information for selecting an adequate CFMC to clients. The questionnaires of IC measurement were handed out to 108 CFMCs, there composing of main office employees, foodservice managers, customers, and clients of 207 school,38 hospital, and 86 husiness/industry foodservices. The statistical data analysis was completed using SPSS Win (ver 12.0) for descriptive analysis, t-test, Mann-Whitney U test. First, CFMCs had operational experience for an average of 8 years and 8 months, and served an average of 38,540 meals a day. Most of the respondent companies specialized in the school foodservice field and managed an average of 66 clients for the contract period of 2 years and 3 months. Second, the respondent companies had gotten a score of 77.78 points for the total average, 77.7 points in the large enterprise group and 78.1 points in the small and medium-sized enterprise group. Therefore, the minimum number of points for the accrediting license on Qualification is suggested to be over 70 out of a 100 point scale; this study would be serve as reference for the certification license on qualification. On the level of evaluation category, the scores were 14.15 to 20 points on $\ulcorner$finance$\urcorner$, 19.24 to 25 points on $\ulcorner$customer$\urcorner$, 19.33 to 25 points on $\ulcorner$process$\urcorner$, 14.31 to 20 points on $\ulcorner$human resource$\urcorner$, and 8.6 to 10 point on $\ulcorner$renewal and development$\urcorner$ . $\ulcorner$Renewal and development$\urcorner$ and $\ulcorner$customer focus$\urcorner$ received better grades than other evaluation categories. Third, $\ulcorner$Finance$\urcorner$ indicated similar distribution overall. Small and medium-sized companies had lower grades than large companies on 'market ability' of $\ulcorner$customer$\urcorner$ , but, clients of small and medium-sized companies had higher grade for 'client satisfaction' than large companies. Most of the companies supported 'infrastructure support for foodservice operation' of $\ulcorner$process$\urcorner$ by the main office of CFMCs, but, the branch chain offices of CFMCs were not applied efficiently. Large companies made more effort to improve the 'employee ability' of $\ulcorner$human focus$\urcorner$ than small and medium-sized CFMC. The 'research and development cost' of $\ulcorner$renewal and development$\urcorner$ was increased compared to the previous year. In conclusion, if CFMCs were to perform self-evaluation and a routine checkups by utilizing CFMC's IC measuring tool, improvements in CFMC operational capacities as well as foodservice quality can be noted. Structured Assessment to Evaluate a Family Medicine Clerkship Program (가정의학 임상실습과정에 대한 구조화된 평가)

  • This study was conducted to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of a 3-week family medicine clerkship program based on the results of an online survey taken by the students (N=127) and a structured interview with a focus group (n=10), aimed to improve the quality of the clerkship program. The online survey contained questions pertaining to goals, schedule, contents, arrangement, atmosphere, environment, evaluation, and satisfaction regarding the clerkship. The focus group interview addressed the schedule and achievements of the program. Scores were reported on a 5-point Likert scale. Most students were highly satisfied with the overall quality of the clerkship. The structured interview results showed that 97.6% of the clerkship program was executed according to the schedule. The focus group reported a perfect score of 5 points on several measures including: accomplishment of the educational goals of the family medicine clerkship, providing many chances to obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations on real patients, experience with various symptoms and diseases, positive attitudes of faculty members when teaching, notification of the guidelines for evaluation beforehand, well-constructed and effective clerkship schedule, and reflection of student feedback. However, the focus group gave low scores on: support for health accidents of students, access to patient information, enough opportunities to practice clinical skills, appropriate rest facilities for students, and fairness of clerkship evaluation process. In conclusion, the structured evaluation performed after the 3-week clerkship program motivated students and helped them ensure an efficient clerkship. This structured evaluation also suggested basic data to make the professor who is subject of the assessment. This study shows that structured assessment is an effective method which can be used to improve the quality of clerkships.

Comparative Analysis of the Results between the Early Period and the Midterm Period of a Single Surgeon's Experience in the Treatment of Hallux Valgus Using Scarf Osteotomy (단일 수술자에 의한 초기와 중기에 시행한 무지외반증에 대한 Scarf 절골술의 결과 비교)

  • Purpose: This study evaluated the results of two groups-the early group and midterm group-comparatively in the treatment of hallux valgus using a scarf osteotomy. Materials and Methods: From January 2005 to December 2009 (Group 1) and from January 2010 to December 2013 (Group 2), this study compared hallux valgus cases treated by a scarf osteotomy by a single surgeon with at least a five-year follow-up. Results: The average ages of Group 1 and Group 2 were 50.5 and 51.7 years old, respectively. The average follow-up of Groups 1 and 2 were 7.4 and 6.2 years, respectively. Groups 1 and 2 had 86 cases (53 patients) and 93 cases (64 patients) with at least a five-year follow-up, respectively. The average hallux valgus angle (HVA) and 1-2 intermetatarsal angle (IMA) of Group 1 were improved from 31.3° and 13.9° preoperatively to 11.3° and 6.8° at the final follow-up, respectively (p<0.001). The average HVA and 1-2 IMA of Group 2 were improved from 31.7° and 13.4° preoperatively to 8.9° and 6.6° at the final follow-up, respectively (p<0.001). The mean American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score of both groups increased from 48.5 and 45.0 points preoperatively to 73.7 and 82.4 points at the final follow-up, respectively. The numbers of patient-assessed subjective satisfaction of Groups 1 and 2 at the final follow-ups were as follows: excellent, 27 and 36 (31.4%, 38.7%); good, 34 and 49 (39.5%, 52.7%); fair, 13 and 5 (15.1%, 5.4%); poor, 12 and 3 (13.9%, 3.2%); respectively. Neither troughing nor stress fractures occurred in both groups. Conclusion: Scarf osteotomy for treating hallux valgus is an excellent surgical method with a relatively low incidence of complications. The results in Group 2 were better than those in Group 1, showing that more surgical experience and evolution of the techniques provided better results.

Item Goodness-of-fit and Difficulty of Childhood Autism Rating Scale(CARS) - Application of Rasch Model - (아동기 자폐증 평정척도(CARS)의 문항 적합도 및 난이도 -Rasch 모형의 적용-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate item goodness-of-fit of Childhood Autism Rating Scale(CARS), Rasch rating scale model was applied to 15 items of the CARS in a sample of pervasive development disorder(n=238). An assumption to test Rasch Model, which is satisfaction of unidimensionality, is regarded through PCAR analysis, and jMetrik 4.03 program is used to test the goodness-of-fit of items. The results of this study were: First, 5-point rating scale was appropriate for the CARS rather than 7-point original rating scale. Second, the result of examining the CARS questions goodness-of-fit, there was a overfitting or misfitting items according to the classified groups. Only in particular Q11 item in diagnosis subject of integration population of autism has become inappropriate. Therefore, it is necessary to provide education for the CARS more systematically. Thirdly, the result of comparing the personal attributes score and difficulty of a CARS question, Q2, Q3, Q10, Q11 items are necessary to distinguish conceptually defined in more detail. Fourth, the results of investigating the difficulty of CARS question, it was found to exhibit a verbal communication is most serious problem for the population of autism.

A Case Study on Vocal Aerobic Treatment Voice Therapy Development and Application for Classical Singers (성악가를 위한 VAT 음성치료 개발 및 적용 사례연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of semi-closed vocal training-based Vocal Aerobic Treatment on the voice improvement of soprano. Study subject was one soprano who appealed to the suffering of her voice problem due to vocal cord nodule. A study method of conducting pre/post acoustic evaluation and subjective voice evaluation to compare the measures was used; Vocal Aerobic Treatment was carried out twice a week for a total of 32 session. In the acoustic evaluation, MDVP (multi-dimensional voice program) and VRP (voice range profile) were used to evaluate the pitch, voice quality, and voice range; in the subjective voice evaluation, SVHI (singing voice handicap index) was used to assess voice satisfaction. As a result of the pitch evaluation, the soprano maintained a proper Fo. As a result of the voice quality evaluation, the jitter, shimmer, and the noise harmonic ratio numbers decreased compared to the numbers shown before the treatment. As a result of the voice range evaluation, the scope of the range was broadened, with the number of semitone increasing from 30 to 35. As for the subjective voice evaluation, the result of the total score obtained after the survey report divided by the number of questions showed a decrease from 3.6 to 0.6. The soprano herself reported of having a minor extent of a voice problem. The summary of the above results reflects that Vocal Aerobic Treatment is useful in the voice improvement of vocalists However, as this study is case research regarding the Vocal Aerobic Treatment effect on one soprano, further research on the treatment effect covering many other vocalists is necessary. Also, there is a need for follow-up studies regarding voice management and voice treatment program on not only the vocalists but also the voice users in many other professions.
