The Effect of Nurse Image, Self-Efficacy, and Major Satisfaction on Nursing Professionalism of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 간호사이미지, 자아효능감 및 전공만족도가 간호전문직관에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify factors related to the nursing profession, nurse image, self-efficacy, and major satisfaction among nursing students, and to provide foundational data for establishing a positive nursing profession. Methods: We conducted a descriptive research study to explore factors affecting the nursing professions of nursing college students. We collected data from 129 students enrolled in the nursing department of a university in Gyeonggi-do, using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. Results: The average scores were as follows: nursing professionals at 3.70±0.44 out of 5, nurse image at 3.98±0.40, self-efficacy at 3.17±0.44, and major satisfaction at 4.23±0.57. Factors influencing the nursing profession included age, motivation for choosing a nursing department, major satisfactionand nurse image, with nurse image being the most influential factor, explaining 35.7% of the variance. Conclusion: It is necessary to identify factors that affect nursing students' perceptions of their profession, and this study provides insights for developing strategies to help nursing students establish a positive view of the nursing profession.

The Relationship among Professional Self-concept, Academic Self-efficacy and Major Satisfaction in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 전문직 자아개념, 학업적 자기효능감 및 전공만족도 간의 관계)

  • This study was conducted to identify the relationships among professional self-concept, academic self-efficacy and major satisfaction in nursing students. Data were collected from 137 nursing students by means of self reported questionnaires about professional self-concept, academic self-efficacy, and major satisfaction from October 19 to 23, 2017. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. There were significant correlations among professional self-concept, academic self-efficacy, and major satisfaction. Predictor that has an effect on major satisfaction was professional self-concept among nursing students. This factor explains thirty-six percentile of total variances of major satisfaction. This study suggests that professional self-concept is positively influenced on major satisfaction. To enhance major satisfaction for nursing students, it is necessary to develop specific course or training program in curriculum for increasing professional self-concept.

A Convergence Study about the Effect Path of Satisfaction with Biological nursing science on Clinical competence (기초간호학만족도가 임상수행능력에 미치는 효과 경로에 관한 융합 연구)

  • This study is convergence study about the effect path of relationship among satisfaction with biological nursing science, satisfaction with major nursing subject, critical thinking disposition, satisfaction with major and clinical competence. The survey was performed on 203 nursing students in three college. Data was collected using a structured questionnaires in May 2018 and analysed with PASW 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Model fit indices were in good agreement with recommended level(${\chi}^2/DF=1.093$, GFI=.992, AGFI=.968, RMSEA=.021, CFI=.998, NFI=.983). Base on the path model, satisfaction with biological nursing science showed a direct effect on satisfaction with major nursing subject(${\beta}=.345$), satisfaction with major nursing subject showed a direct effect both on critical thinking disposition(${\beta}=.272$) and satisfaction with major(${\beta}=.277$), critical thinking disposition showed a direct effect both on satisfaction with major(${\beta}=.365$) and clinical competence(${\beta}=.582$), satisfaction with major a direct effect on clinical competence(${\beta}=.228$). In conclusion the biological nursing science satisfaction has eventually improved clinical competence. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and apply various teaching methods that can increase satisfaction with biological nursing science.

Relationship Between Major Satisfaction, Career Decision Autonomy, and Career Search Behavior of Nursing College Students in Clinical Practice Experience (임상실습경험 간호대학생의 전공 만족도, 진로결정자율성 및 진로탐색행동의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify a causal relationship among major satisfaction, career decision autonomy, and career search behavior of nursing college students in clinical practice experience. Methods: Data were collected using a self-reported questionnaires from 197 nursing students in S city from December 1 to 23, 2016. These were then analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS/PC+ program. Results: The results suggest that major satisfaction was correlated with career decision autonomy; likewise, major satisfaction was correlated with career search behavior. The factors influencing career search behavior were grades and major satisfaction. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop a learning method considering interest and aptitude to increase the satisfaction of the major and to apply the various programs to understand the self and the work environment so as to determine how desirable the course will be.

Effects of Academic Self-Efficacy, Metacognition and Major Satisfaction on Learning Flow among Nursing Students (간호대학생의 학업적 자기효능감, 메타인지, 전공만족도가 학습몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate academic self-efficacy, metacognition and major satisfaction which influence learning flow in nursing students. Method: The subjects of this study were 239 nursing students in D college. Structured questionnaire was self-administered from May 3 to 30, 2021. The date was analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson'correlation coefficients, stepwise and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 22.0. program. Results: In academic self-efficacy, there were significant differences in age. In metacognition, there were significant differences in age, school record. There was a statistically positive correlation between learning flow and academic self-efficacy(r=.211, p=.001), metacognition(r=.357, p<.001), major satisfaction(r=.281, p<.001). The factors influencing learning flow were metacognition(t=.682, p<.001), major satisfaction(t=2.147, p=.023)Multiple regression analysis description is 61.2%. Conclusion: To improve the learning outcomes for nursing students, it is necessary to develop teaching program and curriculum for increasing, metacognition and major satisfaction.

A Study on the Effect of Nursing Students' Major Satisfaction and Nursing Professionalism on Career Preparation Behavior in a Non-face-to-face Educational Environment Caused by COVID-19 (COVID-19로 인한 비대면 교육환경에서 간호대학생의 전공만족도와 간호전문직관이 진로준비행동에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • Background: Career preparation behavior is a challenge among nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nursing students' adaptation to a non-face-to-face educational environment, lack of interaction with others, and fear of infectious disease may affect career preparation behavior. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify factors that influence the career preparation behavior in the non-face-to-face educational environment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Data were collected in October 2022 from 130 nursing students from a college in City A. A total of 119 questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, a one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The findings show that major satisfaction had a significant positive correlation with career preparation behavior (r=0.56, p<0.001). Nursing professionalism showed a significant positive correlation with career preparation behavior (r=0.57, p<0.001). The factors influencing career preparation behavior included major satisfaction, nursing professionalism, and satisfaction with clinical practice. Nursing professionalism was the most influential factor (β=0.35), followed by major satisfaction (β=0.33). Together they had an explanatory power of 37%. Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that nursing college students who experienced the COVID-19 pandemic should search for ways to increase their major satisfaction and nursing professionalism programs should be increased to improve career preparation behavior.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of perceived nursing professionalism and career preparation behavior on the effects of major satisfaction of nursing students. For this purpose, 231 nursing students from 4 university in 4 city were sampled for convenience. The result of this study were as follows:First, nursing professionalism of nursing students directly affected career preparation behavior and major satisfaction, which was statistically significant. Second, nursing professionalism showed mediating effects in relationship between career preparation behavior. Third, the major satisfaction of nursing students directly affected nursing professionalism and career preparation behavior. Based on the results of the research, it is necessary to develop an intervention program that strengthen major satisfaction of nursing students.

Satisfaction of Major and Self-Efficacy of Nursing Students According to Career Preparation Activities

  • This study investigated nursing students' major satisfaction and self-efficacy in relation to career preparation activities during high school. Career preparation activities included career education, counseling, club activities, and volunteer activities. The subjects were 246 nursing students from G and C Province and Seoul. The data were collected from 10 July to 16 August 2018 using a structured questionnaire. SPSS 21.0 program was used for data analysis with frequency and percentage, t-test, ANOVA, and Scheffé test. The results showed that there were significant differences in major satisfaction and self-efficacy according to subjects' age, gender, and grade. Subjects who had chosen their major themselves or who had experienced career education and guidance during high school also had higher levels of major satisfaction and self-efficacy. Subjects who participated in club activities during high school showed higher self-efficacy, and subjects who performed volunteer activities showed higher satisfaction with their major. In conclusion, since various career preparation activities during high school seem to be closely related to major contentment and self-efficacy among nursing students, it would be necessary to allow high school students to explore their interested major in a variety of ways, including education, counseling, club activities, and volunteer work.

The Effects of Nursing Students' Major Satisfaction, Nurse Image, Clinical Practice Education Environment, and Clinical Practice Belonging on Nursing Professional Intuition

  • This study attempted to find out the factors influencing the formation of nursing professionalism in nursing students. As for the research method, a structured self-report questionnaire was surveyed for 3rd year nursing students (n=169) at K University, and the collected data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. The results of the study showed that major satisfaction, nurse image, clinical practice education environment, and clinical practice belonging showed a statistically significant positive correlation with nursing professional intuition, and major satisfaction had the greatest effect on nursing professionalism. Therefore, in order to form a positive nursing professional intuition, it is required to develop and apply various and systematic educational programs to increase major satisfaction.

Influence of nurse's image and satisfaction with the nursing major on their career identity: The mediating effect of professional self-concept (간호대학생의 간호사 이미지 및 전공 만족도가 진로정체감에 미치는 영향: 전문직 자아개념의 매개효과)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the mediating effect of professional self-concept on the relationship between nurse's image and career identity, and between satisfaction with the nursing major and the career identity of nursing students. Methods: This study utilized a descriptive methodology, and 205 nursing students attending three universities in Busan Metropolitan City participated in it. Data were collected from self-reported questionnaires between March 26 and April 30, 2022. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and simple and multiple regression using the IBM SPSS 22.0 program and Sobel test. Results: The mean score of career identity was 2.92±0.57 out of a possible 4. Career identity showed a significantly positive correlation with nurse's image (r=.32, p<.001), satisfaction with major (r=.47, p<.001), and professional self-concept (r=.32, p<.001). Additionally, professional self-concept had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between nurse's image (Z=2.44, p<.001), satisfaction with major (Z=2.35, p<.001), and career identity. Conclusion: The results of the study show professional self-concept had a mediating effect on the relationship between nurse's image, satisfaction with the nursing major, and career identity. Based on the study's results, career identity education programs for nursing students need to include nursing image, satisfaction with major, and professional self-concept.
