A Study on Job Stress, Fatigue and Job Satisfaction of 119 Emergency Medical Technician (119구급대원의 업무스트레스와 피로 및 직무만족도에 관한 연구)

  • This study selected emergency medical technicians at 24 fire police boxes in Jeonnam in order to examine the relationship between job stress, fatigue and job satisfaction of 119 emergency medical technicians. Data were collected from Apr. 10 to May 9, 2004, questionnaires were mailed and returned by mail. Total 109 questionnaires were distributed and 89 questionnaires were collected and 80 except 9 omitting answers and showing inappropriate answers were used for final analysis. The results of this study are as follows. A. The total mean of areas composing job stress in the degree of job stress of 119 emergency medical technicians was over the average as 2.54 (SD .44) of 4 full marks. According to the degree of job stress by each area, the highest area of job stress was crisis situation (2.98), followed by role conflict as professional job (2.58), social factors (2.57), involvement in organization (2.55). To the contrary, the areas of the lowest job stress were professional knowledge and technique (2.35), psychological burden of medical limitation (2.38), conflicts in personal relationship and services (2.45) and improper treatment (2.53). B. The degree of fatigue of 119 emergency medical technicians by areas was over mean as 2.09(SD .49) of 4 full scores and physical fatigue was highest (2.18), followed by mental fatigue (2.11) and neurosensory fatigue (1.99). C. The degree of job satisfaction of 119 emergency medical technicians was 2.71 of 5 full scores and working condition area (3.70) showed the highest job satisfaction, followed by requirement of organization (2.85) and the lowest job satisfaction area was job itself (2.18), followed by desire for job (2.49). D. According to differences in demographical characteristics of 119 emergency medical technicians, there was no variable of statistical difference at job stress and job satisfaction in significance level .05, but fatigue showed statistical difference at final education (F=2.393, p=.046). E. According to differences related to job characteristics of 119 emergency medical technicians, job stress showed statistical differences at motif of current services (F=4.935, p=.003), fatigue showed those at health conditions (F=2.732, p=.008), job satisfaction at overtime (F=3.038, p.034) and the greatest reason of having job (F=3.217, p=.017), F. As a result of analyzing correlations between job stress. fatigue and job satisfaction of the subject, job stress showed positive correlations (r=.411, p=.000) with fatigue and negative correlation (r=-.267, p=.008) with job satisfaction. Fatigue showed negative correlation (r=-.287, p=.005) with job satisfaction. Therefore, the hypothesis of this study. "There will be relationship between degree of stress, fatigue and job satisfaction of subjects." was supported.

The Effects of Parent's Participation and Satisfaction Degree on Physical Therapy for the Improvement of Motor Function in Cerebral Palsy Patients (부모의 물리치료 참여 및 만족도가 뇌성마비 아동의 운동기능 호전에 미치는 영향)

  • Family and parents which serve as a primary group for the children's development also play important role in their cerebral palsy children's treatment. This study wants to know how the parents' participation in their children's physical therapy and satisfaction degree have an impact on their children's improvement of the motor function. For that purpose, a home made self filling survey was conducted of 156 cerebral palsy children's parents whose children were treated in 4 university general hospitals and 3 welfare centers from the 1st of April 2004 to the 31th of march 2005. The gross motor function was employed to evaluate the cerebral palsy children's motor function improvement. In this study, those questioned were divided into two groups according to the time of treatment. 'Group A' is consist of the patients whose parents attended to the treatment more than one hour at home. The patients who belonged to 'Group B' were treated less than one hour at home. The general features of the cerebral palsy children and their parents and the characteristics of their physical disability, the parents' participation and their satisfaction degree were examined by survey. Evaluating the difference between two groups' motor function according to their parents participation degree in the physical therapy leads to the following results. First, 'Group A' was better than 'Group B' in their satisfaction degree with the physical therapy and participation degree. Statistically 'Group A' was superior to 'Group B' in the requirements of the information and education for the children with cerebral palsy. Second, after two months of treatment, 'Group A' showed more statistically significant improvement than 'Group B' in every items as like lying in item 1, sitting in item2, crawling and kneeling in item 3, standing in item 4, walking,running, jumping in item 5. Third, parents' participation in physical therapy and satisfaction degree have some relevance to their children' motor function improvement. The satisfaction degree is related to motor function like crawling and kneeling in item 3, walking,running, jumping in item 5. It is showed that the parents' participation degree and information about handicapped children.

Caring Services in Specialized Facilities for Handicapped Children in Gyeongbuk Province : Users' Needs and Satisfaction (장애아동 전담보육시설 이용자의 보육서비스에 대한 요구와 만족도 - 경상북도를 중심으로 -)

  • A structured questionnaire was distributed to families using some of the ten specialized caring facilities throughout Gyeongbuk Province. Of the 294 responses, 242 were usable. Results showed that (1) facilities were most used by families of children with autism (31.3%) and by families with severely handicapped children (96.3%). (2) Suggestions for improving facilities, included physical-, performance-, and language-therapies (60%) and teachers with expertise in special education (47.8%).(3) More than half of the respondents were satisfied with the degree of care. (4) Satisfaction with degree of caring services varied with academic background of mothers, mothers' job status, degree of child's disability, length of usage, average expenditure for hospital visits, and burden to the family.

A Study on Differences of Job Satisfaction and Involvement According to the Job Status between Outsourcing Staff and Permanent Staff (병원 아웃소싱직원과 정규직원의 직무만족 및 직무몰입, 이직의도에 대한 차이분석)

  • The point of this study is to analyze the difference between the outsourcing staff and the permanent staff. Also, to do a comparative analysis of the degree of understanding of the two groups with regards to elements of the major organization culture. The subjects of the study carne from 9 Catholic hospitals, the outsourcing staff being 198 and the permanent staff being 206. A survey was conducted with them, using SPSS 12.0 and carrying out t-test and ANOVA. A summary of the actual results of this analysis are as follows: Among the elements of organization culture (principles of understanding, practice, education, values, work environ) there appeared a high level of understanding among the permanent staff. As for satisfaction about the facilities, the outsourcing staffs' satisfaction level was higher. Second, the results of analyzing the effectiveness of the factors in job satisfaction and involvement - show that as the elements of education, values, work environ etc. were rated higher, job satisfaction came out higher. Contrary to that, job satisfaction was lower as the work hours lengthened. Through the results of the above study, education program for the outsourcing staff are helped to understand the hospital's special characteristics, unique philosophy and values. Therefore, it is needed the development of new techniques of management for the outsourcing staff; through setting up a department whose whole responsibility is the education and administration of the outsourcing staff, their job satisfaction and involvement will improve.

Influence of Ego-Resilience and Self-Efficacy on Satisfaction in major of Nursing Student (간호대학생의 자아탄력성과 자기효능감이 전공만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of ego-resilience and self-efficacy on satisfaction in major of nursing student. Method: Data were collected from 275 nursing students by means of self reported questionnaires about ego-resilience, self-efficacy and satisfaction in major from December 3 to 20, 2012. Results: There were positive correlations between ego-resilience, self-efficacy and satisfaction in major. The optimistic attitude in ego-resilience (${\beta}$=.56, p<.001), an associate's degree (${\beta}$=.38, p<.001), suitable to aptitude (${\beta}$=.17, p<.001), social self-efficacy (${\beta}$=.14, p=.039) and high employment rate (${\beta}$=.12, p=.033) were significant predictors of satisfaction in major. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop an effective intervention program to improve nursing student's ego-resilience, self-efficacy and satisfaction in major of nursing student.

  • The heart service of a receptionist who receives customers in the front line of a business has a great effect on the management of Company. Considering of this, this study offers a view that high job satisfaction of an employee who works eating-out businesses raises the quality of service and has a great influence upon satisfaction of customers. To support this view, the only original study were made. and for the management of human resources in the eating-industry, satisfaction factors, that have a great effect upon the characteristics of job satisfaction by vital statistics factors, are human relations, advancement, working surrounding. And we should recognize that among these, especially, human relations have d considerable effect on service offering degree and they are important variables for customers' satisfaction. In conclusion, service offers have a need to know how service products differed to customers are selected and appraised. Until now our recognition has been confined mainly to products themselves, but when service can exert its value much more. accordingly, under the recognition that job contentment has an effect on service offering and works as important variables for customers' satisfaction, employers should have incessant on job education of employees.

Relations among Depression, Life Satisfaction and Health Promoting Behavior in the Elderly (노인의 우울, 생활만족도와 건강증진행위의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to examine the relations among depression, life satisfaction and health promoting behavior, and to find factors related with health promoting behavior. Methods: The subjects were 198 elderly people of over 65 living in K City and S City. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS/WIN 13.0. Results: Health promoting behavior was significantly different according to religion, education level, living with family, previous job, pocket money, subjectively economic level, and leisure activities. Depression was significantly different according to education level, living with family, pocket money, economic level, and leisure activities. And life satisfaction was significantly different according to religion, living with family, and pocket money. The variables that affected the degree of health promoting behavior were depression, life satisfaction and living with family, and they represented 29.7% of health promoting behavior. Conclusion: The health promoting behavior of the subjects was better than average and, at the same time, the lower depression in the health promoting behavior was the higher life satisfaction was. Therefore, in order to decrease depression and to increase life satisfaction, the development of advanced health promoting programs will be helpful to lead health life for the elderly people.

Degree of Pain, and Barriers and Satisfaction with Pain Management among Home Care Cancer Patients (재가 암환자의 통증, 통증관리 장애정도 및 통증관리 만족도)

  • Purpose: To investigate the degree of pain, and to identify barriers to and satisfaction with pain management, in an effort to provide baseline data for effective pain management interventions. Methods: The study design was descriptive and correlational. A total of 100 cancer patients who were cared for at home participated in this study. Questions regarding self-rated pain, as well as barriers to and satisfaction with pain management were included in the study instruments. The data were collected by nurses using a face-to-face interview method in May of 2008. Results: Thirty six percent of the participants were in their 70's and 18.0% suffered from cancer of the large intestine. The usual degree of pain was reported as 3.43 out of 10 points, and the study patients were generally moderately satisfied with their pain management (M=$3.15{\pm}0.78$; range, 1-5). The mean barrier score was $3.24{\pm}0.52$ (range, 1-5) and concerns regarding the progress of cancer was the most highly evaluated barrier. There was a negative relationship between the degree of pain and satisfaction with pain management, and between barriers to and satisfaction with pain management. Conclusion: The precise evaluation of pains is crucial to the proper management of pain, and the education and promotion of proper pain management practices may help to overcome barriers to pain management for cancer patients.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree to which cyber counselors' psychological stress, Compassion fatigue and Compassion satisfaction affect exhaustion. 82 cyber counselors were surveyed, and 5 interviews were conducted. As a result of analysis to find out the degree of influence on exhaustion, it was found that Compassion satisfaction was a variable. In-depth interviews looked at the causes, consequences, and ways of overcoming exhaustion, and increased Compassion satisfaction, a positive emotion in the process of helping clients, lowers exhaustion, and shows that Compassion satisfaction is a protective factor to prevent exhaustion. Based on the research results, implications and limitations were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is the Influence of Sailing Yacht Experiences Participants of Flow on Satisfaction and Self-esteem relates to the impact on leisure industry, the popularity of korean culture and yacht basis for the realization is to provide. To achieve this study, Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam area residents to target marine leisure and marine leisure experiences Academy experienced subjects participated in a total population of 428 people selected for the survey was conducted, data processing method frequency analysis, reliability analysis, validity analysis, a simple regression analysis, multiple regression analysis was used. Than as a result of research methods and data analysis through the conclusions are as follows. First, sailing yacht experience the flow degree of the participants to influence satisfaction were static. Second, the flow degree of the participants experienced sailing yacht self-esteem(general factors, family factors, work factors, social factors) was found to affect the static. Third, sailing yacht experience satisfaction self-esteem of the participants(general factor, family factors, work factors, social factors) was found to affect the static.
