This is a survey report of Japan's geo-stationary satellite development. Owing to Japanese government's ambitious space development efforts since 1950's, Japan became the fourth country that launched successfully its own satellite by using its own launch vehicle with the launch of Japan's first satellite, Ohsumi, in 1970. Since then Japan is maintaining a world leader's position in space development with continuous technology accumulation. Japan is injected 97 satellites into orbit(third in the world) by the end of 2003 including 18 science satellite series, 7 technology experiment satellite series, 5 meteorological satellites, and numerous telecommunication and broadcasting satellites, etc. With successful delivery of Optus C1 satellite to Sing Tel Optus Pty., Ltd. in Australia in June 2003 by MELCO, Japan is capable of competing in the international geo-stationary satellite market.

In this paper, the frequency sharing issue between time division duplex-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing/orthogonal frequency division multiple access(TDD-OFDM/OFDMA) based systems beyond third generation(B3G) and fixed Satellite Service(FSS) earth station has been studied. The conventional advanced minimum coupling loss(A-MCL) is adopted to assess the interference from a single base station(BS) of B3G systems. The aggregated interferences from base stations and mobile stations(MS) are evaluated by applying the extended A-MCL and analysed with a cumulative density function(CDF). The minimum distances that enable a single FSS earth station to sharing the frequency with a single BS are between 4 and 53.3 km. In the case of 20 MS per sector, the BS-to-BS distance and the minimum distance between a ES and BS are 6.5 and 2.8 km, respectively.

We propose a timing-offset resilient OFDMA with achieving full diversity for uplink cooparative base station (BS) systems. In uplink OFDMA, timing offset (TO) among multiple users destroys subcarrier orthogonality and thus, it degrades the performance. In order to avoid this performance degradation, the accurate processing, so called 'ranging', is required to synchronize. However, in cooparative BS systems, it is difficult to perform ranging scheme. This is because if the ranging scheme is performed for a specific BS, timing offset has to occur for other BSs. Thus, the conventional ranging method cannot achieve full diversity gain in cooperative BS systems. By employing TO resilient OFDMA, so called, 'ZCZ time-spread OFDMA'. we achieve full diversity gain even with TO among multiple users. We show that the proposed scheme achieves the same performance with case of no multiple acces interference.

In this paper, a high gain waveguide array antenna combining horn antenna on slot radiator was designed. And the fabricated antenna showed enough gain, improved efficiency and broadband characteristics for receiving satellite signals, compare to conventional microstrip antenna which has dielectric loss and radiation loss on transmission line. For easy fabrication, the waveguide structure was composed by 3-stages of radiator, signal coupler and transmission line. By experiment, the array waveguide antenna of 4 by 16 showed 28.3[dBi] gain and 2:1 of VSWR. And by combining horn antenna structure, the gain was increased 1[dB]. The received signal from Koreasat 6 by measurement showed 16[dBc] of C/N on BS(Broadcasting Satellite)-band and 14[dBc] of C/N on CS(Communication Satellite)-band.
In this study, we provide a single element log-periodic antenna that the feeding networks and array structures are aperture coupled and series dipole array type. We made the antenna for direct receiving the Moogoongwha satellite broadcasting signal. The transmission power was able to feed the patch dipole in series due to lay perpendicularly 8 series patch dipole on tapered slot. The patch dipole radiation pattern which fed in series power, make the main beam direction up $37^{\circ}{\sim}42^{\circ}$ within the BS/CS bandwidth. The main beam gain was measured 9.31~11.03 dBi. Using 32 elements to array the elements properly, we acquire $4{\times}8$ array structure on limited PCB board. As a result, it has been found that the new planar DBS antenna structure have high gain over 10dBi and acceptable elevation angle over 42 degree, and we can apply this result to commercial DBS reception antenna manufacturing.
The edge area with burn severity is known as significant factor that has great effects on the ecosystem recovery. However, there is little study on the edge area and its effects in the South Korea. Thus, this study aimed to analyze immediate responses of vegetation following forest fires due to combined effect of burn severity and edge-interior effect. Burn Severity (BS), or ${\Delta}NBR$ values were computed using satellite images of pre and post-forest fire in Samcheock areas. The burn forest was classified 231 $1-km^2$ girds and these grids were further reclassified into 4 groups by BS type (low BS and high BS areas) and forest areas (edge areas and interior areas). These four groups of grids including low BS-interior (group A), low BS-edge (group B), high BS-interior (group C) and high BS-edge (group D). Post-fire vegetation responses measured with (${\Delta}NDVI$) among four groups were then compared and tested by T-test. The results indicated that group C (${\Delta}NDVI$=0.047) and D (${\Delta}NDVI$ = 0.059) showed considerably greater vegetation regeneration than those of low BS areas including group A (${\Delta}NDVI$ = -0.039) and group B (${\Delta}NDVI$ = -0.036). It was also observed that edges areas showed greater vegetation regeneration than interior areas when BS is the same. Group B (${\Delta}NDVI$ = -0.036) showed greater (${\Delta}NDVI$) values than group A (${\Delta}NDVI$ = -0.039) in low BS condition. Similar relationship is observed between group C and group D in high BS condition. Thus adequate restoration practices for burned areas might need to pay close attention to interior areas with low BS to minimize the secondary damages and to rehabilitate the burned forests.

A higher spatial resolution is preferable to support the accuracy of detailed climate analysis in urban areas. Airborne LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) and satellite (KOMPSAT-2, Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-2) images at 1 to 4 m resolution were utilized to produce digital elevation and building surface models as well as land cover maps at very high(5m) resolution. The Climate Analysis Seoul(CAS) was used to calculate the fractional coverage of land cover classes in built-up areas and thermal capacity of the buildings from their areal volumes. It then produced analyzed maps of local-scale temperature based on the old and new input data. For the verification of the accuracy improvement by the precise input data, the analyzed maps were compared to the surface temperature derived from the ASTER satellite image and to the ground observation at our detailed study region. After the enhancement, the ASTER temperature was highly correlated with the analyzed temperature at building (BS) areas (R=0.76) whereas there observed no correlation with the old input data. The difference of the air temperature deviation was reduced from 1.27 to 0.70K by the enhancement. The enhanced precision of the input data yielded reasonable and more accurate local-scale temperature analysis based on realistic surface models in built-up areas. The improved analysis tools can help urban planners evaluating their design scenarios to be prepared for the urban climate.

The frequent handover problem and playing ping-pong effects in 5G (5th Generation) ultra-dense networking cannot be effectively resolved by the conventional handover decision methods, which rely on the handover thresholds and measurement reports. For instance, millimetre-wave LANs, broadband remote association techniques, and 5G/6G organizations are instances of group of people yet to come frameworks that request greater security, lower idleness, and dependable principles and correspondence limit. One of the critical parts of 5G and 6G innovation is believed to be successful blockage the board. With further developed help quality, it empowers administrator to run many systems administration recreations on a solitary association. To guarantee load adjusting, forestall network cut disappointment, and give substitute cuts in case of blockage or cut frustration, a modern pursuing choices framework to deal with showing up network information is require. Our goal is to balance the strain on BSs while optimizing the value of the information that is transferred from satellites to BSs. Nevertheless, due to their irregular flight characteristic, some satellites frequently cannot establish a connection with Base Stations (BSs), which further complicates the joint satellite-BS connection and channel allocation. SF redistribution techniques based on Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) have been devised, taking into account the randomness of the data received by the terminal. In order to predict the best capacity improvements in the wireless instruments of 5G and 6G IoT networks, a hybrid algorithm for deep learning is being used in this study. To control the level of congestion within a 5G/6G network, the suggested approach is put into effect to a training set. With 0.933 accuracy and 0.067 miss rate, the suggested method produced encouraging results.
In this paper, we propose an efficient and robust interference mitigation technique based on a nullsteering multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) spatial division multiple access (SDMA) scheme for frequency sharing between IMT-advanced and fixed satellite service (FSS) in the 3400-4200 and 4500-4800 MHz bands. In the proposed scheme, the pre-existing precoding matrix for SDMA unitary precoded (UPC) MIMO proposed by the authors is modified to construct nulls in the spatial spectrum corresponding to the direction angles of the victim FSS earth station (ES). Furthermore, a numerical formula to calculate the power of the interference signal received at the FSS ES when IMT-Advanced base stations (BS) are operated with the interference mitigation technique is presented. This formula can be derived in closed form and is simply implemented with the help of simulation, resulting in significantly reduced time to obtain the solution. Finally, the frequency sharing results are analyzed in the co-channel and adjacent channel with respect to minimum separation distance and direction of FSS earth station (DOE). Simulation results indicate that the proposed mitigation scheme is highly efficient in terms of reducing the separation distance as well as robust against DOE estimation errors.
