A GNSS receiver must perform signal acquisition to estimate the code phase and Doppler frequency of the incoming satellite signals, which are essential information for baseband signal processing. Modernized GNSS signals have different modulation schemes and long PRN code lengths from legacy signals, which makes it difficult to acquire the signals and increases the computational complexity and time. This paper proposes a novel FFT/Inverse-FFT with baseband resampling to resolve the aforementioned challenges. The suggested algorithm uses a single block only for the FFT and thereby requires less hardware resources than conventional structures such as Double Block Zero Padding (DBZP). Experimental results based on a MATLAB simulation show this algorithm can successfully acquire GPS L1C/A, GPS L2C, Galileo E1OS, and GPS L5.

In this paper, the results of experiments conducted in indoor wired and outdoor wireless environments to reduce the interference impact of 5G mobile communication on fixed satellite services using RF Interference Reduction Module (IRM) are presented. Test results for interference signals with a 100MHz bandwidth in a wired environment demonstrate that RF IRM can reduce interference by more than 20dB in a 100MHz bandwidth. The performance of RF IRM was also tested in the S-band wireless environments. In the S-band wireless environments with interference signals having a 20MHz bandwidth, RF IRM exhibits interference reduction performance of 12-15dB, for signals with a 50MHz bandwidth, it shows 10-12dB interference reduction, and for signals with a 100MHz bandwidth, it demonstrates 5-10dB interference reduction. This paper shows that RF IRM can be used not only within transceivers but also in wireless environments to mitigate interference.
Nonlinear internal waves (NLIW) were studied as a unusual phenomena in the ocean decades ago. As the quality, quantity and variety of satellite images improve over decades, it is founded that NLIW is a ubiquitous phenomenon. Over the continental shelf of northern South China Sea (SCS), both optical and microwave images show that there are trains of NLIW packets near Dongsha Atoll (20.7N, 116.8E). Each packet contains several NLIW fronts. These NLIW packets are nearly parallel to each other and they are refracted, reflected or diffracted by the change of ocean bottom topography. Based on Korteweg de Vries (KdV) theory and the assumption that the bright/dark lines in the satellite images are centers of convergence/divergence of NLIW fronts, one may (1) sort NLIW packets in the same satellite image into groups of the same source, but generated at different tidal cycles, (2) relate NLIW packets in consecutive satellite images of one day apart, (3) locating faint signals of NLIW fronts in a satellite image. The NLIWs travel more than 100 km/day near Dongsha Atoll, with higher speed in deeper water. The bias and standard deviation of predicted location of NLIW front from its true location is about 1% and 5.1%, respectively.

This paper is a study on precise point positioning using global navigation satellite system. This paper studies inherent barriers of global navigation satellite system such as increase in shadowed areas and positioning errors when signals cannot be received due to various environmental factors. It analyzes performance of various receivers, changes in number of satellite and DOP(Dilution of Precision) following changes in environment such as center of a road, side of a road, residential area, high building, and alleys. It also studies changes in positioning error. The objective of this study lies on understanding the range of positioning error following changes in environment and the cause of error, and enhancing the reliability and safety of the global navigation satellite system.

A Satellite transponder is the Communication system to process signal with up-link signal recovery, and transmit to ground station through down-link. The orbit flight in the deep space causes high doppler shift in the received signals from the ground station so that the Carrier recovery and fast synchronization system are essential for the transponder system. The conventional analog transponder is employing the system's carrier recovery along with the PLL (Phase Locked Loop) designed for satellite's operation. This paper presents a digital carrier recovery scheme which can provide more reliable and software reconfigurable implementation technique for satellite transponder system without verifying scheme along with transponder designed for short distance or deep space satellite.
In this paper, we design a direct radio frequency (RF) sampling receiver for multiband GNSS signals and demonstrate its performance. The direct RF sampling is a technique that does not use an analog mixer, but samples the passband signal directly, and all receiver processes are done in digital domain, whereas the conventional intermediate frequency (IF) receiver samples the IF band signals. In contrast to the IF sampling receiver, the RF sampling receiver is less complex in hardware, reconfigurable, and simultaneously converts multiband signals to digital signals with an analog-to-digital (AD) converter. The reconfigurability and simultaneous reception are very important in military applications where rapid change to other system is needed when a system is jammed by an enemy. For simultaneous reception of multiband signals, the sampling frequency should be selected with caution by considering the carrier frequencies, bandwidths, desired intermediate frequencies, and guard bands. In this paper, we select a sampling frequency and design a direct RF sampling receiver to receive multiband global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals such as GPS L1, GLONASS G1 and G2 signals. The receiver is implemented with a commercial AD converter and software. The receiver performance is demonstrated by receiving the real signals.

The Angle-of-Arrival(AOA) information for an array antenna receiver is one of the important factors for estimating the location of specific signals and detecting signals efficiently, in various situations. The AOA estimator in the satellite environment can rapidly calculate the AOA information in the wide area, utilizing a planar (grid, circular) array antenna mounted on the satellite. Since the satellite receiver has the limitation of the array antenna size, the concentric circular (ring) array (CCA or CRA) antenna structure with comparatively small size but with multiple antenna elements is more efficient than the uniform circular array (UCA) structure, for the satellite environment. In this paper, we introduce a cascade AOA estimation algorithm based on CRA, consisting of CAPON and Beamspace MUSIC. In addition, we provide computer simulation examples for verifying the estimation performance of the cascade AOA estimation algorithm based on CRA and compare it to the case of UCA.
In this paper, results for an installation and operation of a GPS jammer localization system were analyzed. The jammer localization system was developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute and it consists of 4 Receiver Stations, a Central Tracking Station, and a Monitoring Station. The system was installed at Incheon International Airport in November 2014; each Receiver Stations were installed at rooftop of buildings apart from 4km, and the Central Tracking Station and a Monitoring Station were installed at indoor. Results of the operation can be monitored through web-browser in real-time, Korea Aerospace Research Institute and Incheon International Airport Corporation are continuously monitoring them. So far, there is no jamming signal which affects GPS receivers around the airport, however, some abnormal signals were frequently received at Receiver Stations. Therefore, the characteristics of those signals were also analyzed in this paper.
Republic of Korea has established its performance-based navigation (PBN) implementation plan in 2010 for ensuring a smooth transition to PBN operations and relevant new flight procedures are being developed in accordance with the roadmap. Various Navigation aids (NAVAIDs) like global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), distance measuring equipment (DME), VHF omnidirectional range (VOR), inertial navigation system (INS) are used to support PBN procedures. Among them, GNSS would play a central role in PBN implementation. However, vulnerability of satellite navigation signals to artificial and natural interferences has been discovered and various alternative positioning, navigation and timing (APNT) technologies are under development in many countries. In this paper, we study whether continuous PBN operations can be achievable without GNSS signals. As a result, it shows that some of the domestic airports require the construction of APNT in the approach area.

In this paper, we developed the hardware GPS signal generator for generating a satellite navigation signal synchronized with Live GPS signal signals and analyzed the performance of signal genterator thorough the experiment For a hardware implementation of the GPS navigation signal synchronous generator, the GPS module may receive a GPS signal in order to generate the same signal as the operation that is transmitted from the current GPS satellite and the synchronized time information and the GPS satellites using the Novatel Inc. OEMStar.In. For generating the GPS synchronization signal, the GPS navigation signal generator was adjusted to a reference clock using the GPS clock synchronous information provided by the GPS receiving module and GPS signals also generated in consideration of the delay of the internal hardware of the generator. In this paper, we analyzed the effect of the receiver via the signal switching between Live GPS signal and generates a signal to measure the performance of the GPS navigation synchronization signal generator. It was confirmed that by the seamless operation of the signal even the moment that the switching of the generated signal from Live GPS signal has occurred through experimentation.
