1. Objectives: We report the relation between the questionnaire and the health state on the Sasang Constitution. 2. Methods: We carried out a clinical test, in which 2 Oriental medical doctors participated to diagnose health state in each Sasang Constitution with 239 subjects. The subjects were divided into 3 subgroups, which are allocated to healthy group, poor health group and disease group. 3. Results: We extracted 4 questions for Taeeumin, 5 questions for Soyangin and 3 questions for Soeumin from the whole 98 questions respectively. Soyangin and Taeeumin share a same question that shows significant difference by health status. For the statistical analysis, we used a Chi-square test. As a result, we found out that Taeeumin showed different distributions of answers in direct/indirect characteristic, perspiration, frequent urination, regular defecation. According to the health status Soyangin showed the different distribution of the answers in color of urination, frequent urination, mouth dryness, abnormal perspiration, discomfort of head. Soeumin showed the different distribution of the answers in cold and chilly feel of abdomen, digestion status and cause of digestion problems when body condition gets worse. 4. Conclusions: This is the first work which reports the relatedness between Questionnaire and Health State in each Sasang Constitutions by an objective clinical test. We found out that several questions have different distributions by health status in each Sasang Constitution. These extracted questions are categorized not only by Wansilmoobyung(완실무병), but also by other symptoms and body status.

Objectives : This study was performed to investigate the relationship between Sasang Constitution and length of chest and abdomen region. Methods : Forty eight participants were enrolled. Weight, height, and lengths from CV22 to CV16, from CV16 to CV8, and from CV8 to CV2 were measured. Ratios of last three lengths to total CV22 to CV2 were calculated respectively. On the other hand, Sasang Constitution was analyzed with QSCCII(Questionnaire of Sasang Constitutional Classification II). The analysis of relationship between the measurements and Sasang Constitution was carried out with SPSS to compare the mean values according to Sasang Constitution. Results : All the mean values were not significantly different depending on the Sasang Constitution, except the ratio of the length from CV16 to CV8 to the length from CV22 to CV2, only in female participants. The ratio was higher in the female Soeumin participants than any other constitutional groups. Conclusions : This result showed that Soeumin could be assumed that they might have weak digestion abilities.

1. Objectives: The purpose of this study was done to compare Sasang Constitution diagnostic rate between taking Sasang Constitution herb medicine patients and non taking group. 2. Methods: We collected data from 430 patients who were visited at the Department of Sasang Constitution, College of Oriental Medicine, Dong-eui University from November 2006 to September 2010. We classified them into two group. One was taking Sasang Constitution herb medicine patients group, the other was non taking group. For Sasang Constitution Diagnosis, they all have done SSCQ-P questionnaire. and a Sasang Constitution specialist diagnosed constitution. According to reactions after taking herb medicine, the patients of taking group were confirmed their constitutions. We checked Sasang Constitution diagnostic rate from each groups'(the whole subjects, taking herb medicine patients group, non taking herb medicine patients group) discriminant function. And to find out Sasang Constitution diagnostic rate, we applied discriminant functions to each other. 3. Results and Conclusions: 1) The whole subjects' diagnostic accuracy rate was 72.07%. 2) Taking herb medicine group's diagnostic accuracy Rate was 75.08%. Non taking herb medicine group's diagnostic accuracy rate applied taking group's discriminant function was 61.60%. 3) Non taking herb medicine group's diagnostic accuracy rate was 81.06%. Taking herb medicine group's diagnostic accuracy rate applied taking group's discriminant function was 57.14%.

Objective : This study was undertaken for discovering the characteristics of sleep in ordinary symptoms based on the Sasang Constitution. The result of this study could be helpful to understand and to identify patients such as Taeumin, Soyangin Soeumin or Taeyangin. Methods : There were 1,229 patients (529 men), who answered the questionnaire about their ordinary sleeping patterns. They were diagnosed, including their clinical Sasang Constitution, by the Sasang Constitution specialist at Bundang Oriental Hospital of Dongguk University. By applying the multinomial and binary logistic regression analysis to those collected materials, we can measure the characteristics and the influence of ordinary sleeping patterns to the dependent variable (Sasang Constitution). Results : In order of the item's influence that had decided one's constitution, between Taeumin and Soeumin, Taeumin snored frequently or well more than Soeumin, Soeumin had more dreams and more sleeping times than Taeumin, and Taeumin struggled frequently or well more than Soeumin. Between Soyangin and Soeumin, Soeumin dreams more frequently than Soyangin, Soyangin snored frequently or well more than Soeumin, and Soeumin has more sleeping times than Taeumin. Between Taeumin and Soyangin, Taeumin snored frequently or well more than Soyangin. Between Taeyangin and a group of the other constitutions, Taeyangin felt unwell after sleeping more than the other constitutions, the other constitutions awaked frequently more than Taeyangin during sleeping. Conclusion : This study will be used for identifying patients as Taeumin, Soyangin, Soeumin or Taeyangin by contrast with each other.

The purpose of this study aimed to know the association between seven health practices and self rated health by Sasang constitution. We recruited 367 subjects aged from 30 to 59. KS 15 questionnaire was used to classify Sasang constitution and visual analogue scale was used to estimate self rated health. Chi-square test was used to know the difference of occupation distribution by Sasang constitution. Anova test, T-test and Chi-square test also used to analyze the difference of self rated health between the health practice group and non-health group in individual Sasang constitution. SPSS 21.0K was used and significant p was <.05. Regular morning meal, non-snaking, good sleeping and sufficient exercise had higher self rated health score (p<.05). Regular morning meal, good sleeping and sufficient exercise had higher score in Tae-eumin (p<.05). Good sleeping had higher self rated health score in Soeumin and Soyangin (p<.05). These results suggest there is possibility that health practices for health promotion could be different according to Sasang constitution.

This study started from the curiasty that Sasang Constitution spirit of Lee ]e-ma has something to do with MBTI based on classification of character of C.G. Jung. This reports made from the information of 368 people who got the Sasang Constitution therapy and showed the good result in health in my hospital and they take part in self-report from of MBTI which are made as statistics and research in relationship between Sasang Constitution spitrit of Lee ]e-ma and classification of character of C.G. Jung This is the statistical result of the research. There is not exactly statistical result which support Sasang Constitution spirit of Lee Je-ma relate to the classification of character of C.G. Jung. The identification of statement of Sasang Constitution spirit with partispart is average 41 which is low while the identification of classification of character with partispart is average 76 which is high. In this reseult, It is hard to get general agreement that the statement of Sasang Constitution of spirit relate to the classification of character because of the difference of identification. so more studies are needed in this part.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the premenstrual symptoms according to Sasang constitution and to utilize for understanding the characteristics of Sasang constitution. Methods Thirty one female university students participated in this study and Sasang Constitution and patterns of premenstrual symptoms was determined by Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution Classification (QSCC) II and premenstrual symptoms screening tool, respectively. For statistical analysis, chi-square test, analysis of variance and correlation test has been used. Results There existed significant differences in menstrual symptoms between Sasang constitutions. Taeumin had higher body mass index in severe PMS(Premenstrual Symptoms) group than normal/mild PMS group, and Soyang in and Soeumin are vice versa. Taeumin showed depressed mood and hopelessness, decreased interest in school activities, Soyangin showed decreased interest in home activities, and Soeumin showed decreased interest in social activities. In terms of interfered functional activities, Soyangin had increased feeling overwhelmed or out of control and Taeumin and Soeumin had increased hypersomnia. Conclusion Menstrual symptoms are different among Sasang constitutional types based on PSST(Premenstrual Symptoms Screening Tool). These results may serve as the basis in identifying and treating premenstrual syndromes related to Sasang constitution.

Objectives : Sasang typology is extensively studied for the Sasang constitution diagnosis objectification with various data, for example, questionaires, reference materials, etc and analyzed with the several statistical methods. In this study, we used ROC-curve (Receiver Operating Characteristic curve) analysis to diagnose Sasang constitution, which is a kind of epidemiologic research methods and is away from traditional statistical methods. Methods : We collected personality questionnaire which consists of 15 items, from 24 oriental medical clinics. We analyzed the sensitivity and specificity using ROC curve method based on the score of personality questionnaire and also investigated classification accuracy and cut-off value of Sasang constitution. Results : The AUC (area under the ROC curve) value was 0.508 (p=.5511) for Taeeumin, 0.629 (p<.0001) for Soeumin and 0.604(p<.0001) for Soyangin, respectively. so the classification accuracy for Soeumin was highest Soeumin for over 30 points and Soyangin for below 28 points respectively. Conclusions : We suggest that Taeeumin is not classified easily in the ROC-curve analysis. We may classify Soeumin and Soyangin but the accuracy of Sasang constitutional diagnosis is still low.

Objective : This study was conducted to find the relationship between syndrome-differentiation and Sasang-constitution in chronic fatigue patients. Methods : The subjects were 72 adults with chronic fatigue who visited Dunsan Oriental Hospital of Daejeon University between March 2007 and April 2007. Their main complaint was fatigue for longer than 6 months and they did not have any physical or mental problems. We measured their fatigue degree by using Chalder fatigue scale and health habits. To evaluate relationship between syndrome-differentiation with sasang-constitution, The patients were divided into four syndrome-differentiations, such as liver and kidney asthenia of Yin, spleen and kidney deficiency of Yang, deficiency of lung and spleen qi, and deficiency of heart and spleen blood. We also diagnosed Sasang-constitution by using Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution Classification II (QSCCII). Results : Among the 72 patients, 41.4%, 34.5% and 24.1% of belonged in Soyangin, Soeumin and Taeumin respectively. Interestingly, we found a meaningful correlation between syndrome-differentiation and physiological function by Sasang-constitution. Conclusion : The result may help Oriental medicine understanding and treatment of chronic fatigue-related diseases and patients.

Objectives : One's mind is turned over by environment and personal relationship. This Emotion is called Chiljung in Oriental Medicine. Sasang Constitution is sorted each Emotion by Nature & Emotion(性情). So, this study aimed at figuring out the relations on Sasang Constitution, and emotion traits of oriental medicine students by EEQ and CISS(as named Mood scale). Methods : 199 students of Dongshin university oriental medicine were tested by Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution ClassificationII(QSCCII) and Mood scale. In this study is used 156 students' data, except 43 students' one for research. 156 students are classified four groups by QSCCII. The degree of emotion was determined by Mood scale. These data ware analyzed by frequency, t-test, ANOVA, Multiple comparison, Correlation, Regression with SPSS windows 15.0. Results : 1. Soeumin has high score on EEQ more than Soyangin. 2. Sasang constitution make no difference on CISS, except emotion-oriented coping in not classify group. 3. It has influence on Emotional express by Sasang constotution that Task-oriented coping, EEQ and CISS. Conclusions : Sasang constitution has significant difference on Emotional express.
