Evaluation method of crude drug preparations was studied in Saengmaek-san. Zig-zag TLC scanning profiles and high performance liquid chromatograms were obtained from Saengmaek-san and its each crude drug. A method using TLC densitometry and high performance liquid chromatography was established for the precise determination of ginsenoside $Rb_1$ in Saengmaek-san containing Ginseng Radix. Consequently, ginsenosicle $Rb_1$ content was 0.45-0.48 mg per g of Saengmaek-san. This method was found to be useful for the quality evaluation of oriental medicinal preparations.

We study the theory of finite series in Chosun Dynasty Mathematics. We divide it into two parts by the publication of Lee Sang Hyuk(李尙爀, 1810-?)'s Ik San(翼算, 1868) and then investigate their history. The first part is examined by Gyung Sun Jing(慶善徵, 1616-?)'s Muk Sa Jib San Bub(默思集算法), Choi Suk Jung(崔錫鼎)'s Gu Su Ryak(九數略), Hong Jung Ha(洪正夏)'s Gu Il Jib(九一集), Cho Tae Gu(趙泰耉)'s Ju Su Gwan Gyun(籌書管見), Hwang Yun Suk(黃胤錫)'s San Hak Ib Mun(算學入門), Bae Sang Sul(裵相設)'s Su Gye Soe Rok and Nam Byung Gil(南秉吉), 1820-1869)'s San Hak Jung Ei(算學正義, 1867), and then conclude that the theory of finite series in the period is rather stable. Lee Sang Hyuk obtained the most creative results on the theory in his Ik San if not in whole mathematics in Chosun Dynasty. He introduced a new problem of truncated series(截積). By a new method, called the partition method(分積法), he completely solved the problem and further obtained the complete structure of finite series.

Nikkomycins are a group of peptidyl nucleoside antibiotics with potent fungicidal, insecticidal, and acaricidal activities. sanN was cloned from the partial genomic library of Streptomyces ansochromogenes 7100. Gene disruption and complementation analysis demonstrated that sanN is essential for nikkomycin biosynthesis in S. ansochromogenes. Primer extension assay indicated that sanN is transcribed from two promoters (sanN-P1 and sanN-P2), and sanN-P2 plays a more important role in nikkomycin biosynthesis. Purified recombinant SanN acts as a dehydrogenase to convert benzoate-CoA to benzaldehyde in a random-order mechanism in vitro, with respective $K_{cat}/K_m$$ values of $3.8mM^{-1}s^{-1}\;and\;12.0mM^{-1}s^{-1}$ toward benzoate-CoA and NADH, suggesting that SanN catalyzes the formation of picolinaldehyde during biosynthesis of nikkomycin X and Z components in the wild-type stain. These data would facilitate us to understand the biosynthetic pathway of nikkomycins and to consider the combinatorial synthesis of novel antibiotic derivatives.

Chosun dynasty mathematician Park Yul (1621 - ?) wrote San Hak Won Bon(算學原本) which was posthumously published in 1700 by his son Park Du Se (朴斗世). It is the first mathematics book whose publishing date is known, although we have Muk Sa Jib San Bub (默思集算法) by Gyung Sun Jing (慶善徵, 1616-?). San Hak Won Bon is the first Chosun book which deals with tian yuan shu (天元術) and was quoted by many Chosun authors. We do find it in the library in Korea University. In this paper, we investigate its contents together with its historical significance and influences to the development of Chosun dynasty Mathematics and conclude that Park Yul is one of the most prominent Chosun dynasty mathematicians.

Objective : This case report aims to show the effect of Huini-san on depressive disorder. the patient was diagnosed with Soeum-byung based on Shanghanlun provisions. Methods : According to Diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun provisions, the patient was diagnosed with Soeum-byung and the patients are treated with Huini-san. We evaluated the results of treatment by Korean Version of the Remission from Depression Questionnaire. Results : After taking Huini-san decoction for 2 month, the symptoms of patients improved Conclusions : This case report shows that effectiveness of using Huini-san according to Diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun provisions on depressive disorder.

Polymer/silicate nanocomposites were prepared via two-step manufacturing process: a master batch preparation and then mixing with matrix polymer. A hybrid of PMMA and Na-MMT with exfoliated structure was first prepared by emulsion polymerization of MMA in the presence of Na-MMT. For the case that SAN24, miscible with PMMA, is used as matrix, we could prepare a nanocomposite with exfoliated structure. However, SAN31 nanocomposite shows the aggregation and/or reordering of the silicate layers due to the immiscibility between SAN31 and PMMA.

최근 SAN과 NAS와 같은 기술의 발전과 함께 대용량의 데이터를 효과적으로 백업하기 위한 요구들이 증가되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 백업을 위해 제안된 개방형 표준 프로토콜 NDMP를 이용하여 SAN 환경에 적합한 백업 소프트웨어를 설계하고 구현한다. 본 백업 소프트웨어는 일반 과일 시스템의 백업은 물론 데이터베이스, 원시 데이터의 백업이 가능하다. 또한 SAN 환경에 적합하도록 Lan-free 백업과 온라인 백업을 지원한다.

In China and Joseon, the measurement of the areas of various plane figures is a very important subject for mathematical officials because it is connected directly with tax problems. Most of mathematical texts in China and Joseon contained Chinese character '田', which means a field for farming, in title name for parts that dealt with problems of areas and treated as areas of plane figures. The form of mathematical texts in Joseon is identical with those in China because mathematicians in Joseon referred to texts in China. Gyeong SeonJing and Hong JeongHa also referred to Chinese texts. But they added their interpretations or investigated new methods for the measurement of areas. In this paper, we investigate the history of the measurement of areas in Joseon, which described in two books MukSaJibSanBeob and GuIlJib, with comparing some mathematical texts in China.
