  • In this paper, a timing analysis is performed for the CAN-based simulator system for a fuel cell hybrid electric vehicles. The CAN protocol is recently being used for conventional vehicles, however, the network-induced delay can make the in-vehicle network system unstable. This problem may be occurred in the future vehicles because more ECUs are being required than recent vehicles. In order to develop a stable network-based control system, timing analysis is required at the design process. Throughout this analysis, timing parameters that affect transmission delay are examined and an effective method of predicting a sampling time for a stable communication via CAN protocol. In order to show the validityof suggested timing analysis. some experiments are performed using DSPs with CAN module.

  • The incorporation of radiation from massive stars is essential for modeling the dynamics and chemistry of star-forming clouds, yet it is a computationally demanding task for three-dimensional problems. We describe the implementation and tests of radiative transfer module due to point sources on a three-dimensional Cartesian grid in the Eulerian MHD code Athena. To solve the integral form of the radiation transfer equation, we adopt a widely-used long characteristics method with spatially adaptive ray tracing in which rays are split when sampling of cells becomes coarse. We use a completely asynchronous communication pattern between processors to accelerate transport of rays through a computational domain, a major source of performance bottleneck. The results of strong and weak scaling tests show that our code performs well with a large number of processors. We apply our radiation hydrodynamics code to some test problems involving dynamical expansion of HII regions.

  • For stereo matching based on deep learning, the design of network structure is crucial to the calculation of matching cost, and the time-consuming problem of convolutional neural network in image processing also needs to be solved urgently. In this paper, a method of stereo matching using sparse loss volume in parallax dimension is proposed. A sparse 3D loss volume is constructed by using a wide step length translation of the right view feature map, which reduces the video memory and computing resources required by the 3D convolution module by several times. In order to improve the accuracy of the algorithm, the nonlinear up-sampling of the matching loss in the parallax dimension is carried out by using the method of multi-category output, and the training model is combined with two kinds of loss functions. Compared with the benchmark algorithm, the proposed algorithm not only improves the accuracy but also shortens the running time by about 30%.

  • Sewer rehabilitation is performed to improve the problem for urban drainage sewer system recently. However the data for the sewer system is not stored enough so that the sewer system is difficult to be managed systematically. In this study, a maintenance management system for urban drainage system is developed to store the data efficiently and manage the system systematically. In the developed system, a hydraulic and hydrologic analysis module is included to test the carrying capacity of a sewer pipe and estimate the amount of combined sewer overflows. The I/I and superannuation evaluation module is included in this system. The module distribute the total inflow/infiltration observed at the several sampling points in a drainage area to the individual pipes of the entire sewer system. Then the superannuation of a sewer pipe is evaluated according to the amount of I/I of the pipe. And in the developed system, the optimal rehabilitation priority module is included to determine the optimal priority and support the decision making for the sewer rehabilitation. The maintenance management system which is developed in this study is constructed by the association with the developed modules and the system is formed as graphical user interface system.

  • We have implemented a fast pressure control system for the transport chamber of a high vacuum cluster tool for advance semiconductor fabrication and evaluated its performance. To overcome the typically slow response of mass flow controllers, the modified experimental method is used very effectively to optimize the pressure control procedure. We successfully obtained quite fast pressure control by adjusting the starting time and eht tuning constants by the Ziegler-Nichols method. In the transport pressure $10\times 10^{-5}$ torr, actual pressure control starts from 4 sec after an initial gas load of 2.1 sccm. As a result, optimum conditions for the tuning constants are the rise rate of 0.02 torr/sec, the lag time of 0.15 sec, and the sampling period of 0.5 sec. Then the settling time is about 9 sec within about $\pm$0.5% for the referenced value. This settling time is enhanced above 75 percents in comparison with conventional experimental method. To account for the experimental effects observed, a theoretical model was developed. This experimental result has a tendency to fit with the theoretical result of $\omega$=-1.0.

  • A LMTT (Linear Motor-based Transfer Technology) is a horizontal transfer system for the yard automation This system is based on PMLSM (Permanent Magnetic Linear Synchronous Motor) that consists of stator modules on the rail and shuttle car. In this research, the kriging interpolation method using sequential sampling is utilized to find the optimum design of a mover in LMTT. The design variables are considered as the transverse, longitudinal and wheel beam's thicknesses. The objective function is set up as weight, while the constant functions are set up as the stresses generated by four loading conditions. The optimum results obtained by the suggested method are compared with those determined by the GENESIS.

  • A 26.4 GHz phase locked oscillator(PLO) for communication satellite transponder is developed. The PLO consists of fundamental frequency generation module(FFGM) and frequency multiplication part(FMP). The signal of 26.4 GHz is generated through frequency tripling process of 8.8 GHz fundamental frequency. Phase locking technique using sampling phase detector(SPD) is adopted to design the FFGM. The MMIC tripler and amplifier are also designed for the reduction of the size and mass of FMP. The phase noise characteristics are exhibited as -96 dBc/Hz at 10 tHz offset frequency and -105 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset frequency, respectively, with the output power over 11 dBm. All performance parameters are complied with the design requirements.

  • Using 3D asphalt pavement surface data, a deep and multiscale network named CrackNet-M is proposed in this paper for pixel-level crack detection for improvements in both accuracy and robustness. The CrackNet-M consists of four function-specific architectural modules: a central branch net (CBN), a crack map enhancement (CME) module, three pooling feature pyramids (PFP), and an output layer. The CBN maintains crack boundaries using no pooling reductions throughout all convolutional layers. The CME applies a pooling layer to enhance potential thin cracks for better continuity, consuming no data loss and attenuation when working jointly with CBN. The PFP modules implement direct down-sampling and pyramidal up-sampling with multiscale contexts specifically for the detection of thick cracks and exclusion of non-crack patterns. Finally, the output layer is optimized with a skip layer supervision technique proposed to further improve the network performance. Compared with traditional supervisions, the skip layer supervision brings about not only significant performance gains with respect to both accuracy and robustness but a faster convergence rate. CrackNet-M was trained on a total of 2,500 pixel-wise annotated 3D pavement images and finely scaled with another 200 images with full considerations on accuracy and efficiency. CrackNet-M can potentially achieve crack detection in real-time with a processing speed of 40 ms/image. The experimental results on 500 testing images demonstrate that CrackNet-M can effectively detect both thick and thin cracks from various pavement surfaces with a high level of Precision (94.28%), Recall (93.89%), and F-measure (94.04%). In addition, the proposed CrackNet-M compares favorably to other well-developed networks with respect to the detection of thin cracks as well as the removal of shoulder drop-offs.
