Objectives: The purpose of this preliminary study was to identify the nurses' perception regarding disclosure of patient safety incidents (DPSI) and to evaluate the effectiveness of education for DPSI. Methods: DPSI education was conducted for nurses majoring in clinical nurse specialist at an university. Before and after the education, the nurses made a questionnaire to evaluate the perception of DPSI. The questionnaires were divided into four categories: first, overall perception of the DPSI; second, recognition evaluation of the DPSI using hypothetical case, third, opinion on legal and nonlegal measures for facilitating the DPSI; and fourth, socio-demographic factors. The Wilcoxon signed rank test was performed on the DPSI questionnaire response to compare the perceptions before and after the education. Results: A total of 10 nurses participated in the education. DPSI education showed the possibility of improving the overall perception, necessity, effect, obstacle, and promotion method of DPSI, although there were also several responses where there was no statistical significance. In particular, DPSI education led to statistically significance change in the perception of obstacles for DPSI. For example, the number of respondents who agreed to the item "DPSI will increase the incidence of medical lawsuits." was 7 before education but decreased to 3 after education (P-value: .025) Furthermore, nurses' perception of DPSI from this study was generally positive regardless of education. Conclusion:In the future, it will be necessary to carry out DPSI education and training and to evaluate its effectiveness for more nurses.
This study is based on parents that have preschool children of age 4~5, and analyzes the perception and parent education demand through parent experience of fire. As a result of the study about perception through parent experience about safety life, safety accidents, safety education of fire, the effect of parents' safety consciousness to fire safety life turned out to be moderate for fathers and large for mothers. The safety education method was mostly done in speaking than experience for fathers, while mothers did education through experience in daily life. Also the difficulties in safety education was lack of educating time for fathers while it was lack of knowledge and methods for mothers. Perception through parent experience of fire safety accidents showed that fathers did not have experience of fire safety accidents while mothers did. The locations perceived by parents where fires mostly occurred showed to be within home for both parents, and both administered first aid in managing fires. Perception through parent experience of fire safety education showed the importance of fire safety education to be important in both parents, and both parents had no experience in fire safety education. Also the fire safety education knowledge acquisition method was TV or the Internet for fathers, while it was participating in seminars or lectures for mothers. Fathers were moderately satisfied of the fire safety education instruction of childhood education centers, while mothers were slightly dissatisfied. For the demand of parent education about fire safety education, fathers were moderate while mothers thought it necessary of parent education necessity. The reason why parent education was needed was to be able to know immediate and prompt measures and first aid treatment in emergency situations for fathers, while it was to figure out the cause of fire safety accidents and prevent it beforehand for mothers. For the education institution of fire safety education, fathers demanded it for safety related institutions while mothers demanded it for children education institutions, and the number of times for parent education was once or twice a year for fathers while it was once a month for mothers. For the parent education instructor of fire safety education, fathers demanded safety education experts while mothers demanded infant teachers that completed the safety education course. For the fire safety education method of parent education, fathers demanded Internet searching while mothers demanded seminars or lectures.
This study was conducted to evaluate a take-out food safety perception instrument that could be used by foodservice establishments. A total of 324 responses was collected via online survey, and 299 responses (92.3%) were used for the statistical analysis. Data was randomly split into two groups. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was performed on the first split-half sample (n=150) to identify a factor structure using standard principal component analysis. EFA revealed three dimensions, titled "Consumer food safety perception," "Take-out food handling," and "Elements impacting on purchase decisions." Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed on the remaining half sample (n=149) using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). CFA revealed acceptable absolute model fits for three dimensions and excellent comparative model fits for the instrument. These findings propose standardized measures that can be useful in assessing the take-out food safety perception.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the level and influence factors of social safety perception of middle-aged and older adults with disabilities. The subjects of the survey were older than 50 with disabilities who responded to the 2018 Social Survey. The results analyzed by Hierarchical regression analyzes showed that factors such as gender, age, place of residence, education level, subjective health status, risk response level, compliance level of others, and compliance with public order had a significant effect on the social safety perception level. Through this study, we could know the importance of personal requirements and social capital for social safety perception of middle-aged and older people with disabilities. In the future, the differences in safety perception by type of disability should be studied too.

The purpose of this study was to provide a 360-degree video on intensive care unit admission guidance to family members admitted to the intensive care unit, and then to identify anxiety, safety perception, and satisfaction. This study was a single-group pre-post design, and the data collection period was from October 1, 2020 to August 30, 2021. The subjects of this study were 19 people who applied 360 degree hospitalization guide video. For data analysis, SPSS WIN 24.0 program was used, and real number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, minimum value, maximum value, and Wilcoxon signed rank test were used. The subjects' anxiety before intervention was an average score of 6.21±2.30 and the anxiety after intervention was an average score of 3.95±2.46, which was statistically significant (z=4.13, p<.001). The safety consciousness of the subjects before the intervention was an average of 4.08±0.39 and the safety consciousness after the intervention was an average of 4.54±0.48, which was statistically significant (z=5.00, p=.001). The highest level of satisfaction with the 360-degree hospitalization guidance image of the subjects was 4.58±0.51 and the lowest was 4.16±0.96. In this study, when 360-degree hospitalization guide video was applied, there was a difference in anxiety and safety perception, and satisfaction was high. Based on the research results, various programs for guardian education can be developed and utilized in the future.
Background: An effective communication strategy for reducing conflicts in South Korea has been designed through the analysis of public perception and communication variables on nuclear power under the conditions of rapidly changing nuclear power policies. Materials and Methods: This study conducted both qualitative research through group discussions based on social psychology and quantitative research through surveys. Results and Discussion: Nuclear power plant (NPP) area residents in favor of nuclear power indicated higher levels of communication, safety perception, and contribution than those against it. NPP area residents trusted the civilian expert groups (18.3%) and local government (17.3%) the most, while metropolitan city residents trusted the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission and the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (20.7%) the most. In determining nuclear power policy, both the NPP area residents (18.1%) and metropolitan city residents (17.1%) prioritized safety, health, and the environment. While metropolitan city residents thought that energy security and economic growth (16.4%) were important, NPP area residents thought the current issue of spent fuel rods (14.1%) to be important. Conclusion: It is necessary for the nuclear power industry to have and actively implement communication and conflict resolution strategies based on the patterns obtained in the study results.

To prevent fall from height, interest in the development and introduction of smart harness is increasing as policies and laws such as mandatory use of smart safety equipment at construction sites. However, despite the potential of smart harness, construction safety cannot be contributed unless adopted or used by users. The objective of this research is to examine the perception between safety managers and workers on smart harness, user perception according to user's experience and differences through semi-structured in-depth interviews. As a result of the interview and comparative analysis, both safety managers and workers perceived smart harness as uncomfortable, and workers with experience in using smart harness perceived that simple functions that inform risks are useful for securing safety. This research results show different user's perception of smart harness can be confirmed how much factors affect the use of smart harness, which can provide implication into establishing measures to strengthen the use of smart harness in the future.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of an education program on safety perception, safety control, autonomy and accountability in clinical nurses. Precedent cases related to patient safety were used in the education program. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest measures was used. Participants in the study, 72 nurses in the experimental group, 71 nurses in the control group, were enrolled for 3 months. The education program was composed of the 20 precedent cases related to patient safety from home and foreign countries. Results: The major findings of this study were as follows: Safety perception (p=.000), Safety control (p=.000), attitude toward autonomy (p=.000), and attitude toward accountability (p=.000) improved after the education program. Conclusion: The findings from this study indicate that an education program using precedent cases is an efficient method to improve behavior and change attitudes towards protecting patients' safety and preventing malpractice claims against nurses.
The objectives of this study were to compare the results of HSL (Health and Safety Laboratory) ramp test with perceived sense of slip onto the several different floor surfaces under contaminated conditions. There are a variety of approaches from biomechanical measurements to psychophysical test and human perception. However, controversies over these approaches still remain. Some widely accepted methods need to be improved. AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) was used to evaluate the perception of slipperiness of seven different floor surfaces under the contaminated condition with glycerol solution. Twelve subjects worn same footwear and walked with self-selected step and cadence along the test floors. The angle of inclination obtained for water wet condition using 5 l/min with HSL ramp test was compared to perception of slipperiness. The surface roughness ($R_z$) related very well both AHP (r=0.95) and ramp test (r=0.92). The high significant correlation (r=0.90) was found between AHP and HSL ramp test.The HSL ramp test values (Coefficient of Friction, COF) according to subjective evaluation were divided into two categories. There were high correlations between test results (subjective evaluation, HSL ramp test) and surface roughness in Rz. Perception rating obtained with AHP showed a high correlation with COF obtained with HSL ramp test.
This descriptive study was aimed to identify factors which influence safety performance through evaluation of nurse's perception of patient safety culture and safety control in general hospital. Self-administered web surveys were conducted by 342 nurses who employed in general hospital from May 09 to May 13, 2014. Data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 statistical program. The results of analysis revealed that the score of safety culture perception was 3.34, safety control was 3.50, safety performance was 3.53 and all scores were higher level than usual. There were significant positive correlation between safety performance and perception of patient safety culture, safety control (r=.463~.645, p<.001). The positively influencing factors of safety performance are marital status, frequency of accident reports, general perception of patient safety and safety control. Explanation ratio of the variables for the safety performance was 52.0% in this study(F=4.252, p=.004). This study findings suggest that it would be useful as a preliminary report of nurse's intervention strategy through confirmation of the nurse's positive effect to improve safety performance in general hospital.
