  • This paper presents a lateral stability control for rear wheel drive (RWD) vehicles using electronic limited slip differentials (eLSD). The proposed eLSD controller is designed to increase the understeer characteristic by transferring torque from the outside to inside wheel. The proposed algorithm is devised to improve the lateral responses at the steady state and transient cornering. In the steady state response, the proposed algorithm can extend the region of linear cornering response and can increase the maximum limit of available lateral acceleration. In the transient response, the proposed controller can reduce the yaw rate overshoot by increasing the understeer characteristic. The proposed algorithm has been investigated via computer simulations. In the simulation results, the performance of the proposed controller is compared with uncontrolled cases. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the vehicle lateral stability and handling performance.

  • UNCLOS recognizes the right of innocent passage in the ocean but grants jurisdiction and governance to the state of the flag the vessel flies. However, by granting the right to determine vessel's nationality to each country in UNCLOS and by practically consenting inconsistency with the ownership and the state of flag has made the keeping of maritime order quite difficult. Especially, acknowledging the exclusive rights of the flag state on criminal jurisdiction hinders the owner state from exercising its rights and exposes the problem of not taking into account the opinion of the affected state party. This study addresses these issues and examines international regulations on vessels and flag states, mainly UNCLOS, and provides case studies on how criminal jurisdiction is determined when accidents occur at sea. Furthermore, it takes a deeper look into the mutual assistance system in criminal matters and proposes some alternatives on how to overcome these issues.

  • In patients with multiple myeloma (MM), once-weekly intravenous injection or twice-weekly subcutaneous injection (SC) of bortezomib has been proven to offer non-inferior efficacy to standard twice-weekly intravenous administration, with an improved safety profile. However, whether once-weekly SC bortezomib can further reduce the incidence rate of peripheral neuropathy (PN) and not compromise the efficacy remains to be investigated. 25 patients of MM treated with once-weekly SC bortezomib were reviewed in this study. The median treatment cycles were 4 (range, 2-9 cycles). Complete response (CR) rate was 52%, ${\geq}$very good partial response (VGPR) rate was 72%, and ${\geq}$partial response (PR) rate was 84%. 1-year and 2-year PFS rate was 63.0% and 34.3%, respectively, and 2-year OS rate was 100%. Any grade of PN was reported in 9 patients (36.0%), with 7 patients (28.0%) had grade 1 PN, and 2 patients (8.0%) had grade 2 PN. No patients reported grade 3/4 PN in this cohort. In conclusion, once-weekly subcutaneous administration of bortezomib offers excellent efficacy with a further improved safety profile, especially with regard to PN. It needs to be validated in future prospective randomized trials.

  • It is one of the most important to protect the battery over charging for stable use and to extend the life of battery which occurs with repeated charging and discharging. Various research have been studied to know the state of health, and in this paper the terminal voltage of battery is measured to calculate the state of charge simply. The circuit used comparator is designed and built not to fall under the specific voltage of battery. The designed circuit board is attached to the automatic water sanitizer device with a solar power system. The system is located in the water tank where there is not water and electric service, and confirmed that the state of working is good.

  • Through qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, the contradictory conclusions about the stability of the settled goaf with two-layer coal seams subject to building load were obtained. Therefore, it is necessary to combine the additional stress method and numerical simulation to further analyze the foundation stability. Through borehole analysis and empirical formula analogy, the height of water-conducting fracture zone in No.4 coal and No.9 coal were obtained, providing the calculation range of water-conducting fracture zone for numerical simulation. To ensure the accuracy of the elastic modulus of broken gangue, the stress-strain curve were obtained by broken gangue compression test in dried state of No.4 coal seam and in soaking state of No.9 coal seam. To ensure the rationality of the numerical simulation results, the actual measured subsidence data were retrieved by numerical simulation. FISH language was used to analyze the maximum building load on the surface and determine the influence depth of building load on the foundation. The critical building load was 0.16 MPa of No.4 settled goaf and was 1.6 MPa of No.9 settled goaf. The additional stress affected the water-conducting fracture zone obviously, resulted in the subsidence of water-conducting fracture zone was greater than that of bending subsidence zone. In this paper, the additional stress method was analyzed by numerical simulation method, which can provide a new analysis method for the treatment and utilization of the settled goaf.

  • Job hazard analyses were conducted to assess exposure to musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) risk factors in seven workers of three dry-cleaning establishments. In accordance with the Washington State Ergonomics Rule, the analyses were performed in two separate steps: (1) observation and checklist approaches were made to identify a "caution zone job" in the seven workers' pressing operations across the three shops; and (2) detailed posture and motion analyses were undertaken to determine a "MSD hazard" in one worker's operation using a video technique. One "caution zone job" was identified and it was the pressing operation job in which five physical risk factors were found in the pressing operations. The detailed analyses confirmed that one "MSD hazard", i.e., awkward posture in shoulders, was prevalent in the pressing operations of the three dry-cleaning facilities. It would be desirable to reduce MSD risk factors including awkward shoulder posture in the dry-cleaning industry.

  • We carry out a demonstration project to verify performance of a Home- Smart Cabinet Panel(H-SCP) at the child care facility. It is difficult to prevent an electrical disaster using a existing cabinet panel because electrical events are invisible and unforeseeable. So we construct a integrated information system with a Home-Smart Cabinet Panel(H-SCP) for management of low-voltage customers. The integrated information system with the H-SCP maintain the transmitted data from H-SCP, alert a electrical event to a administrator and show a state of customer health in real time respectively. A manager of electrical safety can prevent electrical disaster to maintain electrical facilities after analysis on the integrated information system.

  • In this study, we experimented a deterioration characteristics by series arcing with 600V polyvinyl chloride insulation wire and analyzed the glowing/growing process of copper oxide, waveforms of contact voltage, current, power dissipation and carbonized patterns of insulation. We know that how glowing contacts and surface arcing can decompose PVC insulation and that it is possible for the subsequent series arc to ignite, and burn insulation. We expect that these results are useful for advancing the state-of-the-art in fire protection by Providing a better understanding of how electrical fires can initiate.

  • For a fill dam, when a long time has passed since its completion, it is very hard to judge its safety and to maintain effectively it due to limitation and restriction in data showing safety status. Conventional method based on a specific point data by surface settlement gauge is commonly used to define deformation characteristic of dam. However, point data-based deformation analysis cannot provide deformation data of the entire dam. In this study a state-of-the-art terrestrial laser scanning technology is introduced to analyze the entire deformation of dam. As a result, it is known that 3D scanning technique can also be effectively used in evaluating dam safety and then establishing adequate maintain plan.
