  • The study conducted questionnaire analysis to 413 industrial safety field employees in order to examine the necessity and validity of industrial safety field's 17th neo-job classification based on National Competency standards(NCS). As a result, 50.1% of industrial safety management field and 43.3% of industrial health management field answered that classification details of occupational safety and health management field are classified by job(duty) performance. Industrial safety management field recognizes that management and engineering section play a significant role in their work, while industrial health management field recognizes worker's health care and work environment management and overall control of work environment assessment to be significant in their work. Furthermore, industrial safety management field recognizes that separating qualification and foundation of 'construction safety manager', 'chemicals(safety and health) manager', '(toxic)risk assessment evaluator or risk factor manager' to be highly significant. The study is meaningful in that it suggests industrial safety field's qualification items practical in industrial sites.

  • Background: This study examines whether employee perceptions of supervisor behavioral integrity for safety moderates the relationship between top-management safety climate and safety performance (i.e., safety compliance and safety participation) and the mediated relationships through safety motivation. Methods: Data collected from 389 blue-collar employees were analyzed using latent moderated structural equation modeling. Results: The results indicate that the relationship between top-management safety climate and safety behavior, and the mediating role of safety motivation were replicated. Moreover, the results show that the mediated relationships between top-management safety climate and safety behaviors through safety motivation were stronger for employees who report high supervisor behavioral integrity for safety. Conclusion: The study findings suggest the role of supervisor behavioral integrity for safety in clarifying how the employee perceptions of top-management safety climate transfer to the employee safety behaviors through the motivational pathway.

  • The study, on the one hand, reflects the recent social interest in crisis management including user safety and library disaster preparation, and, on the other hand, presents a detailed safety management manual that is a reference for library work sites concerning accidents that may occur in public libraries. The proposed safety management manual consists of safety management elements for the four areas of 'safety management planning', 'safety management for each crisis type', 'information resource restoration', and 'safety management checklist', as well as their detailed sub-categories. This allows each public library site to use the manual to establish safety management plans according to their situation and educate their employees.

  • The use rate of sports facilities in Korea is increasing every year, which means that accidents are also increasing. However, it is difficult to determine the level of safety management necessary to prevent accidents because there are no measurement tools to evaluate such management of sports facilities. Accordingly, in this study, tools and models to evaluate the safety management level of public sports facilities were developed based on public company management evaluation guidelines and the EFQM Excellence Model. A comparative analysis of the proposed tools and models between local governments showed no difference in awareness of safety management by group. This means that active safety management activities are needed to improve the low level of interest in safety of public sports facilities. We hope that this model will be widely used for the safety management of public sports facilities and to identify improvements and priorities in safety management.

  • This paper reviewed the relationship among safety education/managerial factors, safety motivation and safety appliance, and the moderating effect of safety motivation. Based on the responses from 225 employees in small & medium manufacturing and construction industry, hierarchical regressional analysis showed that all education/managerial factors have positive relationships with safety motivation. Also, safety motivation has mediating effect between education/managerial factors(safety education, communication, system, precautionary activity) and safety appliance.

  • The study is conducted in order to identify whether there is difference in laboratory safety management committee and safety manager appointment for type of institutes(university, research institute, enterprise institute). The study conducted statistical analysis of 2484 institutes (university, research institute, enterprise institute) that attended 'current status of laboratory safety management' by year(number of current status participation). As a result, university showed increase in forming safety management committee as the number of current status(year) increases. The number of safety management committee held were the highest amongst all institutes being 2 held/2 year. Furthermore, period of safety management committee held at university and research institutes are decreasing stately. For 2014, the rate of hosting periodic committee and temporary committee simultaneously when necessary are increasing. The rate of appointing safety manager who is in charge of laboratory safety is increasing in university, but it is decreasing in research institute and enterprise institute. The work pattern of safety manager in university is increase in exclusive duties and decrease in adjunct duties, while work pattern in research institute and enterprise institute is more on the contract duties.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to test a hypothetical model of Korean nurses' patient safety management activities using meta-analytic path analysis. Methods: A systematic review, meta-analysis, and meta-analytic path analysis were conducted following the PRISMA and MOOSE guidelines. Seventy-four studies for the meta-analysis and 92 for the meta-analytic path analysis were included. The R software program (Version 3.6.3) was used for data analysis. Results: Four variables out of 49 relevant variables were selected in the meta-analysis. These four variables showed large effect sizes (ESr = .54) or median effect sizes (ESr = .33~.40) with the highest k (number of studies) in the individual, job, and organizational categories. The hypothetical model for the meta-analytic path analysis was established using these variables and patient safety management activities. Twelve hypothetical paths were set and tested. Finally, the perception of the importance of patient safety management and patient safety competency directly affected patient safety management activities. In addition, self-efficacy, the perception of the importance of patient safety management, patient safety competency, and patient safety culture, indirectly affected patient safety management activities. Conclusion: Self-efficacy, the perception of the importance of patient safety management, patient safety competency, and the organization's patient safety culture should be enhanced to improve nurses' patient safety management activities.

  • The study on industrial accidents in Korea has been focused on frequencies of each type, severity, characteristics, causes, and so on. Those attributes of industrial accidents were usually analyzed independently, so that it was hard to provide a systematic guidelines for efficient safety management. Therefore, there were a few of studies based on comprehensive survey results in terms of characteristics of safety management. This study aimed to figure out the characteristics of current safety management and to provide a guideline for ideal safety management in industry. The questionnaire survey carried out for the workers(695) who were in charge of safety management at their industries. The multivariate analyses as well as descriptive statistical analysis were conducted. The factor analysis showed that there were three factors of safety management. They were 1) investment and management for accident prevention, 2) safety manager, and 3) general health and environmental condition. The industries of respondents were clustered into three groups. Three groups showed a statistically significant differences on the number of cases reported and the trends of accident. Actually, the group with the larger investment and better management of accident prevention had a smaller number of accident cases.
