A Study on the Estimation of Human Damage Caused by the LP Gas Flame in Enclosure using Probit Model

  • The energetic and environmental problems have been getting serious after the revolution of modern industry. Therefore, demand of gas as an eco-friendly energy source is increasing. With the demand of gas, the use of gas is also increased, so injury and loss of life by the fire have been increasing every year. Hence the influence on flame caused by Vapor Cloud Explosion in enclosure of experimental booth was calculated by using the API regulations. And the accident damage was estimated by applying the influence on the adjacent structures and people into the PROBIT model. According to the probit analysis, the spot which is 5meter away from the flame has nearly 100% of the damage probability by the first-degree burn, 27.8% of the damage probability by the second-degree burn and 14.5% of the death probability by the fire.

  • Among many tests to verify the characteristics of power system apparatus, the short circuit test is performed to verify the performance characteristics of the apparatus under the short-circuited power system. The verification of the short-circuit performance is inevitable for the reliability of power system and the safety of the operator around. The short circuit performance test requires the suitable power source and Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute has 4000 MVA, 500 MVA short circuit generators for the short circuit performance test. This paper will study on the parameters of short-circuit generator and the estimation of them.

  • In this paper deals with a unique method for measuring vehicle states such as body sideslip angle and tire sideslip angle using GPS velocity information in conjunction with other sensors. A method for integrating Inertial Navigation System (INS) sensors with GPS measurements to provide higher update rate estimates of the vehicle states is presented, and the method can be used to estimate the tire cornering stiffness. The experimental results for the GPS velocity-based sideslip angle measurement and cornering stiffness estimates are compared with the theoretical predictions. From the experimental results, it can be concluded that the proposed method has an advantage for future implementation in a vehicle safety system.

  • This paper presented Fuzzy logic application to Electrical power system analysis for fault location estimation in distribution lines and apply the Power system theory to be fuzzy logic database. The case study referred to the Overhead distribution line of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA.), Thailand which mostly the distribution line of PEA. are Radial schemes. These benefits include reduced outage time, help in locating momentary faults, enhance safety to the line crews and provide notification of an outage without receiving calls from the consumer, Which these benefits also increase Reliability, Stability and Efficiency.

  • The kalman filter which has good estimating capabilities by means of the recursive computation from the previously known of obtained data is usually used for the system estimation in the case of not being directly measurable. The best estimating technique is still open issues on the PWR reactor control system to increase operating contingencies and to predict the safety margins for safer reactor operation. This paper addressed its estimating technique using kalman filter for the more flexible reactor control and showed the reasonable approach for discretization of the continuos-time system for reduction of computation errors.

  • This paper presents a method for estimating the population variability distribution of the failure parameter (failure rate or failure probability) for each failure mode considered in PSA (Probabilistic Safety Assessment). We focus on the utilization of generic estimates from various industry compendia for the estimation. The estimates are complicated statistics of failure data from plants. When the failure data referred in two or more sources are overlapped, dependency occurs among the estimates provided by the sources. This type of problem is first addressed in this paper. We propose methods based on ML-II estimation in Bayesian framework and discuss the characteristics of the proposed estimators. The proposed methods are easy to apply in real field. Numerical examples are also provided.

  • In-wheel motor system gets the driving force from direct-driven motor in the wheel of electric vehicle. It is known as good system for vehicles, from an efficiency, packaging, handling and safety. This paper describes motor and inverter technologies, system configuration and control algorithms for in-wheel type electric vehicle. It is necessary to control on an interrelation perspective because this system drives two motors at same time. In system design, IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) including a wide operating range and high-speed rpm is used and flux weakening control is performed in constant power range. Under the torque command from the host controller, auto control box, inverter's output torque is calculated with using torque estimation technique and applied to actual vehicle driving system. It is verified that the configuration and the algorithm are suitable for the in-wheel motor system.

  • 기존 대형구조물의 안전진단에 관련하여 구조계의 동적계수를 실험적으로 추정하는 방법이 연구되었다. 시간영역방법인 순차적 예측오차방법과 주파수영역의 방법인 주파수응답함수 추정법이 비교검토되었다. 기법의 검증은 2 Bay 3층 구조물 모형에 대해서 수행되었는데, 각 실험적 방법에 의한 추정결과는 일관된 추정치를 보이었다. 그러나, 유한요소법에 의한 결과와는 차이를 보이었다. 이 차이는 구조해석시 절점조건에 대한 부적절한 모형화에 기인한 것으로 사료된다.

  • Determination of allowable overtopping rate for coastal structure is a key point to determine the application of background of coastal structure while considering safety and economic efficiency. Thus, the accurate estimation of overtopping rate against coastal structure is essential. In general, estimation of overtopping against the coastal structure is based on an empirical formula or hydraulic experiment. In this study, we investigate the behavior of overtopping for rubble mound coastal structure with rubble armor stone and wave dissipating block using hydraulics experiment, and domestic or foreign design standard.

  • 첨단과학이 발전하면서 반도체의 필요성은 끊임없이 요구되고 있으며, 이러한 반도체 공정에서는 다량의 독성가스를 이용한 공정이 많다. 이러한 공정에서 가스의 누설로 인한 사고의 위험성은 항상 내재되어 있는 실정이다. 특히 국내 독성가스 사고는 암모니아와 염소에 의한 사고가 대부분이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 LPCVD 공정에서 사용하는 암모니아와 염소의 누출로 인한 피해를 예측하여 안전에 만전을 기하고자 한다.
