A Case of Pharmacokinetics of Cisplatin in Concurrent Chemoradiation for Hemodialysis Patient with Advanced Head and Neck Cancer (혈액 투석을 받는 두경부암 환자의 동시화학방사선요법에서 Cisplatin의 약력학 조사 1예)

  • Objectives : We study the feasibility and pharmacokinetics of cisplatin concurrent chemoradiation for advanced head and neck cancer patient undergoing hemodialysis. Materials and Methods : A 57-year old male with end stage renal disease developed stage III external auditory canal cancer. Complete resection surgery was done. Postoperative 6 months, local recurrence was occurred. Despite excision and adjuvant radiotherapy, local tumor was recurred. We decided to treat a cisplatin concurrent chemoradiotherapy. Cisplatin was administered at a dose of $20mg/m^2$ for 30 min. Hemodialysis was started 30 min after completion of the cisplatin infusion and performed for 4 hours. Hemodialysis was performed on day 3 and 5 of chemotherapy. Plasma samples were collected at specified times after administration of cisplatin. Result : At the end of the third cycle of cisplatin concurrent chemoradiotherapy, the tumor size was markedly decreased. The maximum plasma concentrations of plasma platinum and free platinum were 0.74 and $0.37{\mu}g/ml$ respectively. The area under the curve of plasma platinum and free platinum were 94.7 and $11.3{\mu}g{\cdot}h/ml$ respectively. Conclusion : We report a case of Cisplatin concurrent chemoradiation for hemodialysis patient with advanced head and neck cancer and suggest full dose cisplatin concurrent chemoradiotherpay is tolerable for these patients.

Fish Community Characteristics and Habitat Aspects of Endangered Species, Rhodeus pseudosericeus in Heuk Stream, a Tributary of the Han River Drainage System (한강지류 흑천의 어류군집 특성 및 멸종위기종 한강납줄개의 서식양상)

  • We investigated the characteristics of fish communities and habitat status of endangered species Rhodeus pseudosericeus in Heuk Stream, a tributary of the Han River, from April to October 2018. During this period, we collected 47 species of 14 families from 10 survey stations using kick nets, cast nets, and long bag set nets. The dominant and subdominant species were Zacco platypus (37.6%) and Z. koreanus (13.8%), respectively. The next most abundant species were Squalidus gracilis majimae (11.1%), Pungtungia herzi (7.7%), Rhodeus pseudosericeus (5.0%), Microphysogobio yaluensis (4.3%), and Hemibarbus longirostris (3.0%). Among the fish collected, 19 species (40.4%) were Korean endemic species. Endangered species were R. pseudosericeus and Acheilognathus signifer while exotic species were Micropterus salmoides and Oncorhynchus mykiss, and land-locked species were Plecoglossus altivelis and Rhinogobius brunneus. The community analysis showed that the dominance and evenness indexes were mostly low and that the diversity and richness indexes were high. Moreover, the river health (index of biological integrity) was mostly excllent (1 site is good, 9 sites are very good). R. pseudosericeus inhabited widely from St. 3 to St. 9 in Heuk Stream, and its population size was large. Age groups for R. pseudosericeus estimated by the frequency distribution of total length in spawning season (April) indicated the 32~45 mm group as 1-year old, the 46~59 mm group as 2-years old, 60~69 mm group as 3-years old, and the 70~89 mm group as 4-years or older. Total length range of male and female was similar, and the sex ratio of female (426) to male (394) was 1 : 0.95. A. signifer, which had been released in Heuk Stream, inhabited from St. 4 to St. 5, but its population size was small. Lastly, this paper discusses a conservation plan for fish in Heuk Stream.

  • S. Turner has shown that a Neron symbol can be calculated from the values of K-meromorphic theta functions corresponding to divisors on K-holomorphic torus of strongly diagonal type. Using an isogeny to a K-holomorphic torus of strongly diagonal type, he constructed a Neron symbol on K-holomorphic torus of diagonal type. In this work, we provide a simple formula of the Neron symbol on the Tate curve. And then we construct the Neron symbol on K-holomorphic torus of diagonal or st rongly diagonal type without using isogenies.

  • 지난 5월 11일 한국국제보건의료재단(KOFIH)이 개최한 제1회 해외보건의료 우수사례 공모전에서 가톨릭대학교 성의교정 해외의료지원단이 대상의 수상을 차지했다. 가톨릭대 해외의료지원단은 2004년 3월부터 몽골 울란바토르에 설립한 상설 무료진료소 '성 메리 클리닉(St. Mary's Clinic)'을 운영하고 있는데 이는 해외의료봉사의 롤모델로 평가받고 있다. 가톨릭대 해외의료 지원단과 성 메리 클리닉을 만나본다.

  • Working within classical distribution theory, we develop notions of multiplication and convolution for tempered distributions which are general enough to encompass the classical cases -such as pointwise multiplication of continuous functions or the convolution of $L^1$ functions- which most textbook treatments of distribution theory leave out. Pains are taken to develop a theory which satisfies the commutative and asociative laws.

Identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Using Fatty Acid Analysis (지방산분석을 이용한 Pseudomonas aeruginosa의 동정)

  • Cellular fatty acid composition of 17 strains of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa was determined by gas-liquid chromatography isolated from environmental and clinical sample in a C university hospital. Straight-chain saturated acid of C16:0 and straight-chain unsaturated acid of C18:1 with a double bond were commonly found in all the strains tested. The presence of 12:0 3OH (3-10%), 16:0 (18-28%), and 18:1w7c (17-37%) showed the characteristics of the species in the Pseudomonas. Bacterial fatty acid composition was considered to be useful for the study of interrelation and for rapid identification of the bacteria.

  • Introduction The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Cheongsim-tanggamibang on hypertriglyceridemia in a 37-year-old Taeeum- type male patient. Case presentation A 37-year-old male patient complained of hyperhidrosis and hot sensation was diagnosed with hypertriglyceridemia by blood test and 'Liver-Heat Lung-Dry (Ganyeol-paeJo) severe pattern' of Korean Medicine. Cheongsim-tanggamibang was executed twice everyday during 2 months from July, 23rd to September, 21st of 2019. The effectiveness of Cheongsim-tanggamibang was assessed with blood test. Conclusions After the Korean traditional medicine treatment with Cheongsim-tanggamibang prescription, blood triglyceride and total cholesterol levels decreased, and chief complaining symptoms with hot sensation also improved.

A Study on Calculation of Cross-Section Properties for Composite Rotor Blades Using Finite Element Method (유한요소법 기반의 복합재료 블레이드 단면 특성치 계산에 관한 연구)

  • A two-dimensional cross-section analysis program based on the finite element method has been developed for composite blades with solid, thin-walled and compound cross-sections. The weighted-modulus method is introduced to determine the laminated composite material properties. The shear center and the torsion constant for any given section are calculated according to the Trefftz' definition and the St. Venant torsion theory, respectively. The singular value problem of cross-section stiffness properties faced during the section analysis has been solved by performing an eigenvalue analysis to remove the rigid body mode. Numerical results showing the accuracy of the program obtained for stiffness, offset and inertia properties are compared in this analysis. The current analysis results are validated with those obtained by commercial software and published data available in the literature and a good correlation has generally been achieved through a series of validation study.
