Design and Drive Characteristics of SRM for EPS Application (EPS용 SRM의 설계 및 운전특성)

  • This paper presents a design and characteristic analysis of an SRM drive for EPS(Electrically Power Steering) application. A rack mounted EPS system is considered in this paper. A conventional driving room space and mechanical structure are considered in a design stage. In the restricted design conditions, motor parameters are determined for sufficient torque and speed. For the smooth torque generation and simple circuit of power system, 12/8 motor drive is considered. With FEM and magnetic circuit analysis, designed motor is simulated to meet the requirement of specifications. Effectiveness of the suggested SRM drive for EPS application is studied by the drive tests of a prototype motor.

  • SRM has been applied to many commercial applications that require economical advantages and high performance abilities. But it has some drawbacks such as acoustic noise due to the abrupt change of mmf level when commutation. The abrupt change of a phase excitation produces mechanical stresses and it results in torque ripple and noise. This paper deals with an analysis of vibration and noise in SRM drive. Several types of excitation method are taken into account. The 1-phase and 2-phase excitation technique of short-pitch winding 2-phase excitation technique of full-pitch winding are tested. The acoustic noise is reduced remarkably through the sequential phase excitation in the 2-phase excitation. It is because that the scheme reduces abrupt change of excitation level by distributed balanced excitation with free-wheeling during commutation.

  • SRM has a characteristic of a robust, simple structure and wide operating ranges. So, recently it has studied and developed in many kinds and forms with the technology of power electronics and analysis and design by use of computer. Also, It is used in a very wide range of industrial applications. In particular, single phase switched reluctance motor has a merit in practical use because it has simple operating drives and control systems, very high energy density per unit volume comparing with three phase SRM. But it must have a starting device. In this paper, the shapes of the single phase SRM rotor are designed to reduce the torque ripple, to improve the efficiency.

  • This paper presents the application of fuzzy algorithm for speed control of Switched Reluctance Motor. SRM has a h highly nonlinear control characteristic and operates in saturation to maximize the motor torque. A systematic approach t to the modeling of highly nonlinear SRM drive system which includes the fuzzy controller with coarse control and fine C control is presented. PelfOlmance analysis of SRM dJive is reported for a wide range of operating conditions through s speed variation and load perturbation dynamics. The pelfOlmance indices of SRM drive system operating with fuzzy 1 logic controller are compared with the conventional controller to highlight the merits. The expel1mental results are p presented to confilm the validity of proposed fuzzy 10밍c controller.

  • Design and analysis of a novel 2-phase 4/5 Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) is presented. The proposed motor employs a novel stator pole configuration. A novel SRM employs four-rotor and five-stator poles. The motor has no dead-zone and can be operate at any rotor position. The structure and operating principle are also described. The comparison between the proposed motor and a conventional two-phase 4/2 SRM is undertaken in this analysis. Furthermore, the Finite Element Analysis(FEA) and matlab-simulink are used to predict and simulate the performance of a proposed motor. The results of investigation indicate that the proposed structure offers a better performance in term of torque production.

Determination of Metallic Elements in Urban Particulate Matter (SRM 1648) by ICP-MS and AAS (ICP-MS와 AAS를 이용한 대기 입자상 표준물질 (SRM 1648) 금속성분의 정량에 관한 연구)

  • This study was investigated with sample digestion techniques and a reliability of the analytical results for a quantitative analysis of a standard reference material ('urban particulate matter', SRM 1648). The metallic elements were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) with closed vessel microwave acid digestion method and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). Quality control of the overall analytical procedures for metallic element determinations of standard reference material were estimated by analysis of a SRM 1648. Three digestion solutions $(type\;1:\;HNO_3,\;type\;2:\;HNO_3\;and\;H2O_2(4'1)\;mixture,\;type\;3:5.55\%\; HNO_3\;and\;16.75\%\;HCI\;mixture)$ were applied to SRM 1648. As a result, three digestion solutions used in this study are completely unable to digest Cr of SRM 1648. Reliability of Cr and As showed some errors in the digestion with digestion solution type (3) due to the influence of chlorides. Type (3) digestion solutions are sufficient to fulfill the digestion of As as well as Se in SRM 1648. ICP-MS results showed the improvement in accurate and precise determination of some trace elements like Cd, V and Pb in SRM 1648. It is important to use the proper digestion solution for each element to qualify analytical precision.

  • The switched reluctance motors(SRM) are simple and robust in structure. Because the wide range of power and speed, their application field is increasing. In order to design the motors and to evaluate the performance of them properly, an accurate study about the analysis of motor characteristics is required. In this paper, for the analysis of SRM characteristics, the finite element method which is based on the solution of combined equations both the electromagnetic field equations and the circuit equations of stator is adopted. The analysis model is to he assumed two-dimensional and the nonlinear property of magnetic materials is considered by Newton-Raphson method. To verify the usefulness of the proposed algorithm, commercial SRM is chosen and simulated. The computed torques obtained by Maxwell Stress Tensor are compared with the experimental data and it is found that they are in good agreement. By applying the proposed algorithm to two cases, currents of stator and torques at every angular positions of rotor are obtained step by step. Comparing them, one can recognize that torque ripple of SRM can he improved by controlling the switching sequences of driving circuits.

  • 본 논문에서는 세탁기용 DD모터로 사용되고 있는 BLDC를 대신하여 외전형 Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) 타입으로 세탁기의 부하에 따라 저속/고토크인 세탁모드, 고속/저토크인 탈수모드의 특징에 만족시키는 전동기를 설계한다. 이와 같은 특징을 고려하여 외전형 SRM의 극 조합을 12/8, 18/12, 30/20, 36/24에 대해 설계하고 FEM을 통해서 특성을 해석한다. 이 중 세탁기용 전동기에 알맞은 구조를 선정하고자한다.

  • This paper presents the switching angle and voltage for maximizing torque of 4-phase 6-poles SRM. The switching angle and voltages was determined through the approximated analysis and computer simulation by using SIMULINK according to the speed and torque required by load but we used new analytic equation from maximum torque characteristic And then one-chp micro-controller controls the switching angle and voltage of an asymmetrical inverter in the SRM driver. Also we expects that this method reduce micro-controller load and realize approximated real time control

  • This paper presents a driving method of 3-phase 4-poles SRM(switched reluctance motor) drived by switching angle control. In this study, the switching angle is determined from approximated analysis and computer simulation by using MATLAB for high efficiency according to the speed and torque required by load, and then microcontroller controls the switching angle of asymmetrical inverter in SRM driver. Also, we experiment the maximum forque driving and maximum power driving by controlling switching angle available to electric vehicle.
