  • In this work a new configuration of E-core stator Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) with permanent magnets and auxiliary windings embedded in the stator yoke is proposed. For the proposed configuration of SRM electromagnetic analysis is performed using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) based computer aided design package MagNet and to emphasize its merits a comparison is drawn with existing hybrid excitation configuration of SRM. In addition, the vibration characteristics of the motor are analyzed by performing modal and transient analysis using the ANSYS package. Results of the analysis reveals that the proposed configuration of SRM exhibits better electromagnetic and vibration characteristics and is capable of competing with the existing topologies in the variable speed market.

  • SRMs are difficult to design using a simple mathematical model and, consequently, numerical analysis based characteristics analysis is used including drive circuits. In this process, it is necessary to analyze the trends according to the change of the design factors, however, many of the design factors affect each other. In order to shorten the design time and achieve a proper design, a modeling technique based on the design parameters is needed. For this purpose, this paper summarizes the formulas employed for shape modeling by minimizing the number of major design factors of the SRM, and proposes a methodology for SRM design using these formulas. In particular, we propose a design method for a 6/4-pole model, one which has been studied for a long time, and showed an example of a design produced by the proposed method.

  • Objectives: Children with disabilities may exhibit a multitude of symptoms, and treatment requires a multidisciplinary approach for a satisfactory outcome. Lack of awareness among physicians, lack of referral, and lack of inter-sectoral coordination have hindered paediatric practice in Tamil Nadu, a state in India with a striking childhood disability rate that warrants a timely interdisciplinary approach. However, the perspectives of paediatricians on paediatric physiotherapy are unknown. The aim of the study was to investigate the perspectives of practicing paediatric physicians in Chennai on the role of physiotherapy in paediatrics. Methods: For an in-depth exploration, qualitative semi-structured interviews were conducted in person with 10 paediatricians. Audio from the sessions was recorded and transcribed, and data saturation was achieved through iterative analysis. Results: A grounded theory analysis of the results yielded 5 domains under which the perspectives and expectations of the physicians were described, along with the barriers experienced by patients' parents as explained by their paediatrician. The responses highlighted deficits in awareness, structural support, accessibility and direct communication between physicians and physiotherapists. Conclusions: Paediatric physicians have different opinions, and some ignorance persists concerning paediatric physiotherapy. This study warrants a proper structure of the paediatric rehabilitation unit and regular interdisciplinary meetings and focus group discussions to increase access for parents and improve patient outcomes.

  • In this paper, a magnetic analysis of SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) using 3d finite element method considering end-coil effect is presented. SRM models with different stator pole shapes are taken into consideration for the analysis of magnetic characteristics. It is observed that a stator pole shape model having a pole shoe depth is the most suitable one for railway traction application because it gives an improved inductance and torque characteristic. For a speed control of SRM, the PI and sliding mode controllers are applied to designed SRM with magnetic characteristic data obtained from the magnetic analysis. The simulations are carried out using Matlab-Simulink and the control performance is analyzed. By employing the sliding mode controller, the transient response as well as the steady-state error are much improved under a load variation of railway resistance under operation.

  • House made differential mobility analyzer(DMA) is calibrated with NIST SRM 1691(300 nm PSL). Then the particle size and uncertainty for differential mobility analyzer(DMA) using the NIST SRM 1963(100 nm PSL). In result, calibration of prototype DMA is measured using 300 nm NIST SRM 1691, then sheath air flow was corrected 126.67 ㎤/s. Corrected sheath air flow is used in uncertainty measurement of prototype DMA. Uncertainty analysis is performed using NIST SRM 1963(100 nm PSL). The experimental result shows that NIST SRM 1963 is measured as 102.17 nm with a type A uncertainty of 0.33 nm.

  • The torque of SRM depends on phase current and the derivative of inductance. But the inductance of SRM is nonlinearly changed according to rotor position angle and phase current because of saturation in magnetic circuit, and it is difficult to control the desired torque. This paper proposes inductance modeling method using ANN(Artificial Neural Network) that is used to simulate the inductance which is nonlinearly varied with rotor position and current. The torque ripple is analyzed and input voltage and current condition to reduce torque ripple is simulated by inductance model.

  • The switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive system provides a good adjustable speed and torque characteristics. SRM has the possibility of maintaining full power over a wide speed range. So, many attempts are being done from home appliances to industrial machinery and tools. Especially, the traction drive of SRM is one of a good application due to it's torque characteristics. However, because of the switching mechanism, it has some disadvantage of noise and vibration. It is difficult to adopt to an appliance demanding silence. A noise simulations and test of 3-phase 6/4, 6/8 and 12/8 SRM were done in other to compare each other. The test results show that 12/8 SRM has good noise characteristics.

  • In this paper study on a toroidal switched reluctance motor(TSRM) is described. The structure of the TSRM is different from that of a conventional SRM The main windings of the TSRM are wound around york of the stator while those of the conventional SRM are wound around its stator poses. Therefore the TSRM has many advantages and drive system, winding connection, inductance, drive method, torque, current waveform of the TSRM are different from those of the conventional SRM In this paper, the TSRM is analysed by simulation and experiment.

  • The single phase switched reluctance motor(SRM) is simpler in control circuit because the number of switching devices is fewer than the poly phase SRM. The energy density per unit volume is very big because all stator poles are excited simultaneously by a single switching power source. But it must be provided a starting device on account of not being generated the starting torque at specific rotor positions. And also it has some demerits that have a torque ripple, noise and vibration because of being excited by switching pulse power source. Therefore, to make up for these demerits, it is realized many studies for the structure design used by computer and the operating methods by power electronics technique. In this paper, we'll present the comparison of the single phase SRM with the various rotor pole face types, as like stepped rotor pole face type and general rotor pole face type. For the torque characteristics analysis.

  • This Paper analysis variable characteristics of inductance profiles and basic magnetic fields for Switched Reluctance Motors(SRM). The varying Inductance and flux linkage on operating control condition are very important for developing control algorithm and SRM accurate drive system. Therefore, we have analytical model for varying inductance and flux linkage with simulation and experimental method, and to find an analytical expression for the SRM coenergy. There are shown some good results that comparison of simulated and analytical inductance, flux linkage and current waves.
