The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of children's temperament, parent-child communication, peer relationships on children's cognitive and affective happiness. The participants consisted of 396 elementary school students aged 10-13 dwelling in Jeonbuk province. Data was analyzed through descriptive statistics, t-test, regression analysis using the SPSS 18.0 program. The most salient results from this study were as follows: first, there were statistically significant differences in the children's happiness according to academic performance and family's economic level; children who considered themselves to have good grades and to have a higher standard of living were happier than other groups. However, there was no significant difference in children's happiness in relation to gender. Second, children's temperament(sociability, activity), parent-child open communication and peer relationships were positively associated with the children's cognitive and affective happiness. Children's emotional temperament, parent-child problem communication were negatively associated with the children's cognitive and affective happiness. Third, as the results of regression analysis, parent-child open communication, children's temperament(activity, sociability), peer relationships were considered to be the most influential factors in explaining cognitive happiness. And parent-child open communication, parent-child problem communication, children's temperament(activity) were influential factors in explaining affective happiness. In conclusion, children's happiness is critically affected not only by internal variables but also environmental ones such as parents and peers.

Background: Carcinoma of the tongue is the most common intra-oral malignancy in Western countries. Incidence and mortality rates have increased in recent years, and survival has not improved. This study aimed to determine etiologic factors for tongue cancer with age-sex matched case-control data. Materials and Methods: 47 patients with carcinoma of the tongue referred to our oral medicine clinic between years 2005-2006 were analyzed and compared with control group data. The medical records, including family history of cancer, dental trauma, and history of abuse of alcohol and tobacco products was recorded for all subjects. Chi square comparison tests and linear regression analysis were performed using the SPSS program for statistics. Results: Patient and randomly selected control groups each consisted of 30 male and 17 female subjects with mean ages 53.2 (${\pm}12.6$) and 52.6 (${\pm}11.5$) years respectively. Smoking and alcohol abuse proportions were significantly higher in the patient group (p=0.0001, p<0.0001 respectively). Chronic mechanical trauma was observed in 44.7% of the patients and 17.0% of the control group (p=0.004). Similarly, family history of cancer of any type (for the first degree relatives) was found to be more common in the patient group (p=0.009). On regression analysis, alcohol abuse, family history of cancer, smoking, chronic mechanical traumas appeared as significant etiologic factors (p=0.0001). Conclusions: We believe that field cancerization may become evident in oral and oropharyngeal mucosa with multiple steps of molecular changes starting from the first sign of dysplasia with chronic exposure to etiological factors. Chronic trauma cases need particular attention to search for very early signs of cancer.
Purpose: This study was conducted to identify factors that influence health-related quality of life in older adults with osteoarthritis. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design with secondary analysis of the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2011. A total of 362 participants aged 65 years and older who had osteoarthritis were selected. Health-related quality of life using EQ-5D, perceived health status, body mass index, numbers of chronic illness, smoking and alcohol use, exercise, activity limitation, joint pain and stiffness, depression, and perceived stress were measured. Descriptive statistics, $x^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression were conducted with SPSS/WIN 21.0. Results: The mean score of EQ-5D was 0.77 in older adults with osteoarthritis. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that age, income, subjective health status, restriction of activity, knee joint stiffness, depressive mood, and perceived stress significantly predicted health-related quality of life in older adults with osteoarthritis, explaining 42% of the variance. Conclusion: Older adults with osteoarthritis have low health-related quality of life. In oder to improve health-related quality of life in older adults with osteoarthritis, it is important not only to enhance physical function but also to provide emotional support.
The purpose sof this study was to examine consumer's addictive buying through the TV home shopping, focused on materialism, show host and credit card use consumer. Two hundred four female consumers who had purchased fashion items in TV home shopping had participated for this study. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test, and multiple regression were used for the study with SPSS 12.0 program. The result were as follows. First, the addictive buying group was 13.2% among respondents while non-addictive buying group was 86.8%. Second, materialism was classified into 3 factors: happiness, success and possessiveness. Show host was classified into 3 factors such as visual presentation, image and communication skill. Credit card was classified into 3 factors: sales promotion, late payment and method payment. Results of multiple regression revealed that happiness and possessiveness from materialism, credit card late payment, and show host communication skill were significantly related to addictive buying. Based on these results, this study would provide fashion marketing strategies for reasonable and reasonable consuming culture, since addictive buying has been not only individual problem but also social problem. Based on these results, this study would provide fashion marketing strategies for reasonable and reasonable consuming culture, since addictive buying has been not only individual problem but also social problem.

Purpose: This study was to examine the relationship between mental health status and suicidal thinking among cancer patients. Methods: The data set of the 4th Korea National Health and Nutrition Survey (2009) was used and 230 subjects with cancers were included in the present study. Using SPSS/WIN 18.0 program, data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$ test and logistic regression analysis. Results: About one-third of subjects had stress, symptoms of depression and suicidal thinking. Female had more suicidal thinking than male (${\chi}^2$=5.44, p=.020). In addition, subjects with high income level had more thinking about suicide compared with those in low income level (${\chi}^2$=7.54, p=.023). There was a significant difference in suicidal thinking according to the educational levels (${\chi}^2$=13.25, p=.004). In the logistic regression analysis, it was indicated that gender, depression and stress were significant predictors on suicidal thinking, accounting for 26.7~38.1%. Conclusion: From the findings in this study, it was suggested that the healthcare providers should try to improve their mental health status in order to prevent suicidal thinking among the individuals diagnosed with cancer.
Purpose: The main purposes of this study were to assess maternal-fetal attachment (MFA) of the expectant mothers of a fetus with a prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease (CHD) and to identify factors associated with MFA. Methods: The methodology was a cross sectional survey study using a self-administered questionnaire. Thirty pregnant women carrying a fetus with a prenatal diagnosis of CHD and 30 pregnant women with a normal fetus were enrolled in this study. The MFA Scale and PPS (The Prenatal Psychosocial Profile) were used to collect data. Data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 Window version. Descriptive statistics, $X^2$-test and t-test were used to compare the two groups. The factors associated with MFA were identified by multiple regression analysis. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in MFA and social support from spouse was the only variable showing a significant difference. The model from the multiple regression analysis explained 33.8% of MFA for both groups. Conclusion: MFA of expectant mothers with a prenatal diagnosis of CHD and of mothers with a normal fetus were not significantly different. It is important that health care providers encourage expectant fathers to support the expectant mothers to increase MFA.
Purpose: As the number of infertile couples has grown, many infertile women have experienced depression during the diagnosis and treatment of their infertility. This study aimed to identify the factors related to depression in infertile women who underwent reproductive treatments. Methods: The study subjects were 149 infertile women who underwent reproductive treatments. The data were collected by self-administered questionnaires from August 1 to December 24, 2018. The questionnaire consisted of questions about fatigue, health-promoting behavior, and depression. Analyses of the descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way analysis of variance, correlation, and multiple regression were conducted using the SPSS 25.0 Windows program. Results: Thirty-six of the women in the study (24.2%) were in the probably depressed group and 113 (75.8%) were in the definitely depressed group and 100% of the subjects experienced symptoms of depression. Depression was positively correlated with fatigue and negatively correlated with health-promoting behavior. Multiple regression analysis revealed that fatigue and interpersonal relationships were factors significantly related to depression in the model (p<.001), with an explanatory power of 42.6%. Conclusion: The results confirmed that fatigue and interpersonal relationships, which is a subfactor of health-promoting behavior, were factors related to depression. To alleviate depression in infertile women, efforts should be made to identify and reduce psychological and physical fatigue. In addition, minimizing relational difficulties that they experience during an infertility diagnosis and treatment and strengthening positive interpersonal relationships can be positive strategies to alleviate depression.
