Since human listening is very sensitive to sound, a subjective index of a sound quality is required. Therefore, in the analysis for each situation, the sound evaluation is composed with sound quality factor. Many researchers spends their effort to make a more reliable and more accurate of sound in term of sound quality index for various system noise. In this study a reliable index is constructed and analyzed using correlation analysis, regression analysis and weighting factor for each sound quality factor. We have made the sound quality index that agrees with more than human subjective sensitivity which apply to various sound quality metrics. Also we applied a 'grade' metric to jury for sound evaluation, analyzed relation between sound duality index and sound quality grade. Then we will judge the sound quality level according to the sound quality grade scheme.

The aim of this study is to investigate the sound insulation performance of windows according to the sound source in the field test. For this purpose, an experiment was performed by KSF 2235(method for field measurements of sound insulation of windows and doors). Based on this code, the sound insulation performance fo the windows was measured for different incident angles of the sound and the effect of incident angle was obtained and discussed. Finally, it was found that the sound insulation performance of the windows was affected by the incident angle of sound source, and the sound insulation rating scale was different for the same window. The main factor changing insulation rating scale is considered to be the sound transmission through the carck of the folding part between the two pieces of wndows. Therefore, when evaluating the sound insulation performance of the windows for the field test, first of all the place of the sound source should be identified and generalized.
The purpose of this study is to suggest a new concept of the absolute sound level system in order to basically solve all the irrational aspects from the mastering stage to the output stage during the process of producing a sound source. Through this absolute sound level system, all the input absolute sound levels of sound sources become standardized based on 60 dB(S), and then sound source producers can implement a sound level they intend by using the differential sound level tag. Besides, by matching the output absolute sound level with the input absolute sound level, a target sound level can be implemented as a listener intends. With this system introduced, sound source producers are able to focus on the completion of a sound source itself without an unnecessary competition for sound levels, and only by inputting the differential reduction tag, they can implement a sound level balance as intended. At the same time, listeners are able to appreciate all kinds of sound sources fit for the standard of absolute s ound levels they want to listen to, without a process of trial and error, no matter what kinds of listening environments and sound systems they have.

Floor impact sound in high-rise apartment building became one of social problems. A lot of civil complaints on floor impact sound occur continuously and the number of disputes between neighbors in small and aged apartment buildings is increasing. Interests on heavy-weight impact sound pressure level measurement and evaluation method is increased. Previous study reported that heavy-weight impact sound level was changed by the sound field condition of receiving reverberation chamber. In this study, heavy-weight impact sound pressure level change by the receiving sound field condition was measured in standard test facility and mock-up test room. These two experimental conditions were designed to simulate averaged living room of common apartment units. By the change of sound absorption power in receiving room, heavy-weight impact sound pressure level in most of frequency bands were changed in standard test facility and mock-up room. Normalized maximum sound pressure level regulated in ISO 16032 showed wider range of heavy/soft impact sound pressure level. Heavy/soft impact sound pressure level change was became smaller by the application of standardized maximum sound pressure level and ISO/CD 10140-3 Amd 2 method. In the case of standardized maximum sound pressure level, absolute sound pressure level changed. From these results, receiving sound field correction method regulated in ISO/CD 10140-3 Amd 2 is needed for the precision measurement and evaluation of heavy-weight impact sound.

Field measurement method of heavy/soft impact sound pressure level which is regulated in JIS and ISO has been using in Korea, Japan and Canada. It is reported that heavy/soft impact sound pressure level was varied by the sound field condition of receiving room such as sound absorption power and room volume. In this study, it is checked that heavy/soft impact sound pressure level was affected by the receiving sound field condition. Rubber ball and bang machine sound pressure level was measured in the vertically connected reverberation chamber. In oder to check the effect of receiving sound field on heavy/soft impact sound pressure, sound absorption power was changed with polyester sound absorption blankets with air space and glass wool. The reverberation time at 1 kHz band was changed from 10 s to 0.2 s by sound absorption material. Rubber ball sound pressure level measured without sound absorption material was 58 dB in $L_{i,Fmax,AW}$, but the level was 46 dB with sound absorption treatment. From this result, it is confirmed that sound field correction method is needed in the heavy/soft impact sound pressure level measurement method using bang machine and rubber ball.

This study was carried out to investigate sound characteristics including sound parameters and subjective sensation, and primary hand values related with sound of fabrics for blouse, and furthermore to predict subjective sound sensation with mechanical properties and sound parameters. Sound of specimens was analyzed by FFT. Level pressure of total sound(LPT), loudness(Z), coefficients of autoregressive(AR) functions for fitting the spectra, and sound color factors(ΔL and Δf) were obtained as sound parameters. Primary hand values for women's thin dress were calculated by using KES-FB. Subjective sensation for sound including softness, loudness, sharpness, clearness, roughness, highness, and pleasantness was evaluated by free modulus magnitude estimation. The results were as follows; 1. Fabrics for blouse showed similar spectral shapes to one another in that amplitude values were lower in most ranges of frequencies than fabrics for other uses. 2. It was found that fabrics for blouse were less louder because LPT, loudness(Z), and ARC values were lower than other fabrics. 3. Primary hand values indicated that specimens were soft-touched, flexible, and less crisp. Among primary hands related with sound, Shari values were higher for silk fabrics than for synthetic ones, while the values for Kishimi were similar, 4. Fabrics for blouse were rated more highly for softness, clearness, and pleasantness than for loudness, sharpness. roughness, and highness. Silk fabrics were evaluated more pleasant than synthetic fabrics. 5. Subjective sensation for sound of blouse fabrics were predicted with mechanical properties and physical sound parameters.

Today, the use of a vacuum cleaner gave us the higher quality of life than past time, but sometimes made us w1comfortable in the house because of the specific noise that is annoying. So we need to study how sound absorbtion materials affect sound power level and sound quality with sound metrics. In this paper, we will measure and calculate sound power level for vacuum cleaner and analyze characteristics of the noise for 10 Signals according to materials positioned in vacuum cleaner. The multiple regression analysis can estimate the nonlinear characteristics of relation between subjective evaluation and sound metrics. So we will develop sound quality index for vacuum sound.
The present study aims to investigate the effects of sound diffusers and absorbers on the sound clarity in classrooms. In order to do this, computer simulations were carried out to find the effective area of treatment which could enhance the sound clarity in the room. Acoustic measurements were undertaken in a lecture room with several conditions changing the surface of walls and ceilings with diffusers and absorbers. Diffusion and absorption treatments were applied to the side walls, rear wall and the ceiling of the classroom. SPL, RT, D50, RASTI were measured at 9 measurement points with one sound source and MLS was used as the sound source signal. The results show that higher sound clarity was obtained when diffusers were applied to rear walls and ceiling rather than side walls. Also, it was confirmed that absorption increased sound clarity more effectively with smaller amount in comparison with diffusers. It was also concluded that the effects of sound diffusers and absorbers on the sound clarity could be obtained distinctly at the rear area of the classroom.

Sound pressure levels in the receiving room while testing airborne sound insulation performance are varied by the measuring points. This may increase the measurement error, then decrease the measurement reliability. With this reason the research has carried out on the method to reduce deviations of sound pressure level in the ISO type rectangular laboratory focusing on the measurement of airborne sound insulation performance. Tests were made to see the effect of sound absorption in the receiving room, loudspeaker locations, microphones locations and flanking transmission path. Consequently, it was resulted that sound absorption in the receiving room and the loudspeaker location have influence on the sound level deviations especially in the low frequency. The microphone location was very important to get measurement reliability. The effective measuring point, which the sound level difference with average sound pressure level is within 2 dB, could yield most reliable average sound pressure level. Therefore it is necessary to find the effective measuring points in the receiving room. Flanking transmission path should be sealed using sound absorber or magnet etc. to prevent from lowering the sound insulation performance.
A heart sound algorithm, which separates the heart sound signal into four parts; the first heart sound, the systolic period, the second heart sound, and the diastolic period has been developed. The algorithm uses discrete intensity envelopes of approximations of the wavelet transform analysis method to the phonocard-iogram(PCG)signal. Heart sound a highly nonstation-ary signal, so in the analysis of heart sound, it is important to study the frequency and time information. Further more, Wavelet Transform provides more features and characteristics of the PCG signal that will help physician to obtain qualitative and quantitative measurements of the heart sound.
