  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the shock attenuation mechanisms while varying the loads in a backpack during drop landing. Ten subjects (age: $22.8{\pm}3.6$, height: $173.5{\pm}4.3$, weight: $70.4{\pm}5.2$) performed drop landing under five varying loads (0, 5kg. 10kg. 20kg. 30kg). By employing two cameras (Sony VX2100) the following kinematic variables (phase time, joint rotational angle and velocity of ankle, knee and hip) were calculated by applying 2D motion analysis. Additional data, i.e. max vertical ground force (VGRF) and acceleration, was acquired by using two AMTI Force plates and a Noraxon Inline Accelerometer Sensor. Through analysing the power spectrum density (PSD), drop landing patterns were classified into four groups and each group was discovered to have a different shock attenuation mechanism. The first pattern that appeared at landing was that the right leg absorbed most of the shock attenuation. The second pattern to appear was that subject quickly transferred the load from the right leg to the left leg as quickly as possible. Thus, this illustrated that two shock attenuation mechanisms occurred during drop landing under varying load conditions.

  • Objective : This research was conducted to evaluate the method of sasangin classification by voice analysis, The 2 pilot tests were thus designed to solve the following problems: 'What are the conditions at classification for sasangin by the voice analysis?' and 'What are the important variances of /a/ parameter?'. Methods: 122 volunteers Were examined to make a diagnosis of sasangin by QSCC II and they were disease-free and healthy, First, they said /a/ three times for 2 seconds in their usual voice, Second, they said /a/ for 2 seconds by the different ways of high tone, mid tone, and low tone. The sounds were collected by a recording program (cooledit 2000) through a Sony microphone (ecm-26l). We analyzed the voices by maltlab, the simulation tool. Results: There were no differences and were correlations when one said /a/ three times for 2 seconds in the usual voice. There were some things to correlate when one said /a/ three times for 2 seconds by the different ways of high speech, usual speech, and low speech. Others were nothing to correlate. We evaluated the value of sasangin classification method by only /a/ voice analysis. The hit ratio was average $66.3\%\;:\;soyangin\;67.9\%,\;taeumin\;68.0\%,\;soeumin\;63.9\%$. Conclusion: We must set up the conditions to use the method of sasangin classification by voice analysis. The value of sasangin classification method by only fa! voice analysis was a hit ratio of $66.3\%$.

  • This research examines the legal liability of place-shifting of TV contents by the use of the Slingbox. The place-shifting of TV contents is fair use because it is a non-commercial private use based on the relevant case law regarding time-shifting and device-shifting such as Sony, RIAA and Napster. But the sharing of place-shifting function is likely to be liable for copyright infringement. And place-shifting may not be fair use based on the cases which denied fair use of time-shifting and space-shifting because the consumers' convenience for the use of the copyrighted work is against the purpose of legislation of copyright law. Place-shifting is unlikely to have a significant effect on the potential market for TV contents because it presents lucrative new platforms to disseminate TV contents to computers and mobile devices. However it is likely to have negative effect because various devices can be the follow-up marketplaces of the copyright holders of TV contents. This study proposes the "innovative medium defense," a new doctrine to analyze liability of innovative media.

  • Catamaran has recently been a choice to support a typical vertical axis turbine in floating tidal current energy conversion system. However, motion responses associated with the catamaran can reduce the turbines efficiency. The possibility to overcome this problem isto change the catamaran parameter by varying and simulating the demi-hull separations to have lower motion responses. This simulation was undertaken by Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) using potential flow analysis. Cases of demi-hull separation were considered, with ratios of demi-hull separation (S) to the breadth of demi-hull (B), S/B of 3.45, 4.95, 6.45, 7.2 and 7.95. In order to compare to the previous works in the literature, the regular wave was set with wave height of 0.8 m. Furthermore, the analysis was carried out by irregular waves with significant wave height, Hs, of about 0.09 to 1.5 m and the wave period, T, of about 1.5 to 6 s or corresponding to the wave frequency, ω, of about 1.1 to 4.2 rad/s. The wave spectrum was derived from the equation of the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC). For the case of turbines-loaded catamaran under consideration, the new finding is that the least significant amplitude response can be satisfied at the ratio S/B of 7.2. This study indicates that selecting a right choice of demi-hull separation ratio could contribute in reducing motion responses of the tidal current turbines-loaded catamaran.

  • The purpose of this study is to first discriminate and assess those infants who appear healthy in appearance but who could face possible risk factors in the future and, secondly, to identify those infants who may have difficulties in their developmental stages. The subjects of this study consisted of 35 full-term infants (39-40 weeks) and 33 pre-term infants (34-35 weeks). The infants' voices were recorded for three minutes, for which EDIROL by Roland and a stand-type microphone made by SONY were used. This was done to discern the value of the Breath unit (B-unit) and the fundamental frequencies ($F_0$). It was found that there were significant differences in terms of F0 since the pre-term infants had higher F0 than the full-term infants, showing a result of 436.4 Hz for the full-term infants and 460 Hz for the pre-term infants (p<.05) There was an average rate of 4.01 for the full-term infants and 4.02 (SD=1.69) for the pre-term infants in shimmer. For NHR, it was observed .44 for the full-term infants and .50 for the pre-term infants, thus revealing no significant differences in these observations. This study shows that the crying of newborn babies is related to their physical conditions and it is a sensatory response to these conditions. Furthermore, this study could be helpful for the early detection and measurement of newborn babies who look clinically healthy but could be at risk through acoustic and physiological analyses.

  • Lithium-ion batteries providing high gravimetric energy density are rapidly replacing Ni-Cd and Ni-H2 in aerospace applications. The main advantage is the weight reduction of the battery system. Weight is a major concern in aerospace applications. Also, lithium-ion offer low thermal dissipation, high energy efficiency, and low cell cost. The Onboard battery module for KSLV-I(Korea Space Launch Vehicle) contains 80 Sony US18650 cells configured as 10 strings in parallel, with each string containing 8 series connected cells. This allows to meet voltage and capacity requirements specified for the mission. In this paper design description and specifications of lithium-ion battery developed are presented. Qualification test flow is also shown to make sure the performance in the predicted space environment. Electrical performance was simulated by dedicated program, and verified with electronic load. Lastly, the capacity was proven on real equipment load assembly.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the kinematic characteristics of javelin to compare the characteristics between world elite athletes and local male athletes. The subjects selected 9 athletes out of total 13 athletes recorded more than 65 m in the preliminary and main competition participated in the 93rd National Sports Festival held in 2012. Three-Dimensional motion analysis using a system of 4 video cameras(Sony HXR-MC2000) at a sampling frequency of 60 fields/s was performed for this study. The Kwon3D 3.1 was used to obtain the three dimensional coordinates about the top, grip, end of javelin. And the kinematic factors of javelin calculated using Matlab2009a program. The resultant speed of javelin that affects directly to the record of performance showed 26.08 m/s indicated lower speed of about 2-3 m/s than world elite athletes. The release point appeared to have been made at the high of $1.79{\pm}0.07$ m of 99.8% of the height of the athletes. In terms of release angle, it was indicated average $33.0{\pm}3.81^{\circ}$ lower release angle compared to the world elite athletes. The attitude angle(up & down tilt angle, X axis) related to javelin indicated average $38.5{\pm}4.96^{\circ}$, its related attack angle average $5.5{\pm}5.11^{\circ}$, and yaw angle(sideslip, side attack angle) average $15.7{\pm}8.48^{\circ}$.

  • Severe acute respiratory syndrome CoV-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is responsible for the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Signaling pathways that are essential for virus production have potential as therapeutic targets against COVID-19. In this study, we investigated cellular responses in two cell lines, Vero and Calu-3, upon SARS-CoV-2 infection and evaluated the effects of pathway-specific inhibitors on virus production. SARS-CoV-2 infection induced dephosphorylation of STAT1 and STAT3, high virus production, and apoptosis in Vero cells. However, in Calu-3 cells, SARS-CoV-2 infection induced long-lasting phosphorylation of STAT1 and STAT3, low virus production, and no prominent apoptosis. Inhibitors that target STAT3 phosphorylation and dimerization reduced SARS-CoV-2 production in Calu-3 cells, but not in Vero cells. These results suggest a necessity to evaluate cellular consequences upon SARS-CoV-2 infection using various model cell lines to find out more appropriate cells recapitulating relevant responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection in vitro.

  • The purpose of this study examines the effects of corporate CSR on corporate image, customer satisfaction, and customer citizenship behavior in order to provide implications for CSR. To verify hypotheses, we conducted a questionnaire survey on university students using Apple, Sony, Sharp, and Kyocera mobile phones, and used structural equation model analysis for 294 units. As a result, four factors, economic responsibility, legal responsibility, ethical responsibility and philanthropic responsibility were derived from corporate social responsibility, and all three factors except for ethical responsibility factors were proved to have a positive effect on corporate image. In addition, corporate image has a positive effect on customer satisfaction and customer civic behavior. As an implication, Japanese companies will need to take a systematic approach to CSR to help them understand their CSR and improve the level of CSR they can sympathize with.
